Fanatastic location, but getting a little long in the tooth...

The view form the lanai is fantastic, a great combination of open water and bayside surf. However, the unit has seen better days - there's no longer a parking space included, no window coverings in LR, phone doesn't work right, exposed wiring in MB fan switch, and the one provided blanket in the MB is old and threadbare. Unlike past years we were unable to get the suite cooled down properly. It's a shame, the unit is roomy and, as mentioned, the location can't be beat - sadly, it just lacks proper maintenance. We brought these concerns to the attention of the owners, as well as the property manager, but didn't even get the courtesy of a reply, in spite of the fact that we have spent over ten thousand dollars in rent at this unit. My suggestion would be to check out some other rental units at Kanaloa - you'll find that the current market offers much nicer upgraded units for similar pricing....

Owner response:There is plenty of common area parking available on site adjacent to the unit. The covered parking space is not offered as part of the use. We have not had window coverings in the living room for several years. It was a choice made to enhance the views without suffering any loss in privacy. The phone line has been fixed and the one blanket in the master bedroom has been replaced. It often gets warm very humid in Hawaii even when you are on the ocean. 2 years ago, we completely replaced the 5 ton central air condition system. It does a great job when the windows and doors are closed.

Our second stay at Kanaloa & enjoyed your sunrise/sunset location. Ate all of our meals on the lanai. Enjoyed Keauhou Bay-paddleboarding and our son (16) joined the canoe club on 2 morning paddles--he sprints kayaks back home. Our daughter (13) loved the location & ziplining in Hawi. After 20 years since our first visit to the Big Island, so happy to see how slowly things change here. Thank you.

This is the most beautiful setting and so conveniently positioned. Love it here. We have visited many of the islands many times but have never been happier than here.

This is our first visit to the island of Hawaii and I know we will make many more visits, the Lord wiling. Your condo is perfect. We all enjoyed it very much. Its the best!

Aloha! We've had a wonderful time here in Kanaloa. Lots to see just from the lanai ...sea turtles, spinner dolphins, and the reident pair of saffron finches. The pool was great for a daily late afternoon cool-off. Highlights for us around the Island: quilt and fabric shops with their gorgeous bright-colors, the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden outside Hilo, Volcano Village and the Thurston Lava Tube, the City of Refuge (wonderful sunset picnic on the beach-they have grills!), a tour of the Kona Coffee growing area (with tastings), the Body Glove Scuba & Snorkel, the Evening on the Reef Cruise, the Shops at Waikaloa, snorkeling at KAHALU'U Beach, and finally, Manta Ray viewing (and Mermaids!!) at the Sheraton Crystal Blue Lounge. The only part we hate is leaving.. Mahalo

Thank you for making your vacation home available. We had a wonderful time with views from the lanai, snorkeling trips, surfing, SUPing, (harder than it looks!), Volcano Nat'l Park (no lava, but steam), a night snorkel trip to see the manta rays (outstanding!). The kids (15 and 17) went parasailing (something they had always wanted to do) and loved it. A fantastic family vacation with a fantastic "home" base. P.S. My 15 year old daughter slept on the lanai each night- "The best bedroom ever!!"

This island, this condo complex and your home is fabulous. Nothing is more peaceful & relaxing than sitting on the lanai listening to the ocean. We were fortunate enough to see the wild parrots, visit the Kiawe tree in front of the lanai on two occasions. What a surprise! Our dream is to someday make the Big Island our home. Your lovely condo has renewed & confirmed that dream in our minds. Your home is so comfortable & was perfect for us. You must really treasure coming here. Your notebook of hints & tips is invaluable. This was an experience that my family and I will never forget. Each night we enjoyed a beautiful home prepared dinner on the balcony, enjoying the beautiful view of tghe ocean.
