Deer, rabbit and quail also drop by to visit from time to time.

Boat, jet ski, kayak and fishing supply rentals can be found at Ferndale Resort, Konocti Harbor Resort and in Lakeport. If golf is your game, there are several courses in the area such as Adam Springs and Rob Roy located in beautiful Cobb Mountain. Lake County is home to extensive vineyards and wineries. Tasting rooms are open in several of the local wineries such as Steele Wines, Wildhurst Vineyards and most recently Ceago where the tasting room is accessible by watercraft from the lake. Clearlake State Park is the venue for hiking, birdwatching, swimming and picnicking.

While avoiding the crowds you can still enjoy the amenities at the Konocti Harbor Resort & Spa, less than 5 minutes away. Schedule a massage or enjoy a concert at their indoor showroom or outdoor amphitheatre. Additionally, Lake County is home to numerous art galleries and to the Taylor Observatory in Kelseyville which hosts a monthly public event and can be reserved for private events.

Easy day trips to other destinations abound. Calistoga, about 40 miles away, offers its famous cleansing mud baths. The world renowned Napa Valley Wine Region is a short drive further south. Drive north past Blue Lake and through the redwoods to Mendocino for shopping, or take a ride on the skunk train in Fort Bragg. You will be welcomed back home to unobstructed gorgeous views of the lake. Evening views offer a spectacular display of lights from homes across the lake and the celestial beauty of bright stars in the dark sky.
