The Owners have spent two and one-half years restoring all the unique qualities that were built into the turn of the century brick mansion. The 10,000 sq. foot house has been converted to four units. The owner resides in one unit a portion of the year. This is NOT a B&B. The furnishings are period appropriate, yet all the modern comforts are present. Be one of the lucky ones that stays at this classic historically significant home. You will feel pampered by the quality, detail and convenience in a location that is hard to beat,... take the train or highway in and then walk to everything. The beach is 7 blocks North.

There is a large yard, pet sitting available, a spectacular garden patio and a sitting porch or balcony to dream and visit on. The second floor balcony can be set up for summer breeze sleeping. Bicycles can be made available. Sailboat and fishing boat rentals are available. Indoor storage of bicycles is available.

The Owners are professional youthful Seniors that appreciate cultured renters and know how to make entertaining convenient for your friends and family. • Amenities
  • Air Conditioning: 3 window air conditioners per unit on second floor, central air on the first floor.
  • Washer: Shared, in Lower Level Laundry Facility with washroom. There is also a refridgerator/freezer and stove to aid in big patio parties for large groups or family reunions.
  • Dryer: Shared, in Lower Level. There are also lines, inside and out.
  • Linens Provided: All are fresh and provided in ample supply.
  • Garage: None, off street parking is available for four cars.
  • Off Street Parking: 4 spaces, and additionally on street parking is plentiful. This is a problem out by the beach area, 6 blocks away.
  • Parking for RV/Boat/Trailer: Yes.
  • Gas Fireplace (2) : By Fall of 2008.
  • Wood Stove: By Fall of 2008, in the laundry facility.
• Beds
  • Queen Bed (6) : There are 2 Queens and four high quality daybeds with trundles that make into Queen size beds.
  • Double Bed: This bed is an extra long called a Lincoln Bed.
  • Twin/Single Bed (4) : Additional daybeds can be set up for larger groups. Use them as 2 singles (trundle) or as a Queen Size Bed.
  • Child Bed (4) : Trundles that can be used lower or raised to be the level of a regular bed. All are on casters for ese of access.
  • Convertible Bed (4) : Use them as 8 twins (they have trundles) or as 4 Queen Size beds.
  • Crib: We also have a bassinet and a high chair.

  • Cable/Satellite TV: Comcast Cable, hopue is wi-fi accessible and has a booster to assure connectivity on the porch, patio and yard.

  • Catering Available: There are 153 restuarants in Michigan City, IN, several within walking distance, ask for a list of caterers.

  • Gas/Electric BBQ Grill: A large stainless steel grill is available on the 56' 66' patio, weather permitting.
  • Charcoal BBQ Grill: In storage to lend to you for picnics.
  • Deck/Patio: Very large for parties, well lit at night, flowers and schrubs, privacy and tons of ambience.
  • Balcony: Seats two. Access from the second floor front unit only.
• Communications
  • Telephone: Available in the owners unit at all times or there are 9 mhz units that are portable. Long distance is free.
  • Free Long Distance: US Only.
  • Computer: There is a laptop in the owners unit that can be used but not moved.
  • Broadband Internet: Comcast, wi-fi is boosted, access from the yard, patio, porch, also.
  • WiFi (Wireless Internet): Wi-fi is boosted for a strong signal. Owner will give you a password that is reequired. City to provide access in 2008 for the beach/boat area.

  • Amtrak is six blocks(Chicago to Detroit), The South Shore Train (Chicago to South Bend)is three blocks, walk to 10 restaurants, three professional theatres, five antique stores, Lake Michigan Beach, Washington Park, Harbor, Zoo, Miniature Golf, Car Museum, Lighthouse Mall, Library, Downtown, Art Stores, six Churches, Observation Tower, Carnivals, Festivals, Art Museum, Concerts, Senior Center, Bicycle Routes, Mount Baldy Federal Sand Dune Preservation, or Friendship Gardens. There are boat charters in town.
• Suitability
  • Pet Friendly: Owners have a great cat, Mr. McGregor, very friendly. Dogs and cats are welcomes proving the owners care for them properly with some help from the Proprietor's of course.
  • Wheelchair Accessible: Doors are wide enough but there are 8 steps and no ramp.
  • Kid Friendly: Weeks of things to do, most are within walking distance. There is a yard to play in, a playground a block away and Proprietors that love kids.
  • Minimum Age Limit for Renters: 18
  • Smoking Allowed: There is a balcony, porch and patio to smoke on. We prefer no smoking on the inside of the units.
