The Irish Rose has become a vacation favorite for guests from all over the world! Just take a look at our guestbook comments below! This mountain cabin is located on the historic Mosquito Gulch Trail. Just 15 miles south of Breckenridge, it is the perfect spot for either a secluded get-away or a ski vacation at a fraction of the cost.

Centered on ten acres of pine and aspen, the Irish Rose was designed to accommodate those who want a true Colorado experience. With Mosquito Creek flowing nearby, you will enjoy spectacular views of Pennsylvania and London Mountains as you relax with family and friends.

If summer hiking, biking or four-wheeling is your desire, four of Colorado's 14,000 foot peaks are at your doorstep, providing some of the best hiking and driving trails in the world. Tackle the summits of Mount Bross, Mount Democrat, Mount Cameron, and Mount Lincoln... all in a single day!

Gold pan on the local creeks, explore "Buckskin Joe" trail, and visit the ghost town of Park City. The historic mining towns of Alma and Fairplay are also nearby. Mountain bike to your heart's content or drive the legendary 4x4 "Mosquito Pass" into Leadville. Pick wildlowers and view wildlife--there's something for everyone!

If winter activities are your goal, the beautiful village of Breckenridge is just a short drive north where you can enjoy premier Colorado skiing, dining, and shopping. Keystone, Arapahoe Basin, and Copper Mountain are also close. Or, stay near home and cross-country ski to your heart's content. We have it all!

The Irish Rose was built with families in mind. The main level has a great room with a gas fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing the beautiful mountains and trees. It is surrounded by a huge 32x8 foot wrap-around deck. A full kitchen and dining area are also on this level to create an open, spacious environment. Pets are NOT allowed, No Smoking.

There are two main level bedrooms, one with a queen bed, and one with bunk beds geared for up to four kids. The great room sofa also pulls out to a queen-size bed. The master bedroom loft has a queen bed, washer and dryer, along with a small private balcony. There are full baths on both the main level and the loft. (The cabin also has a lower level with a private entrance which is occasionally used by the owners. This unit is not rented. Please inquire whether anyone will be there during your stay.)

Experience the Rocky Mountains in the comfort of the "Irish Rose". At over 10,000ft elevation, it's as close to heaven as you can get!

Why the Owner Chose Other Breckenridge Properties

Pure Colorado. The property feels secluded but still close to civilization!

The Unique Benefits at this House

Summer is our busiest season! Hiking, mountain biking, exploring, gold panning, fishing, four-wheeling, etc make it an awesome summer getaway! Great base also for skiing and winter activities. You won't be disapointed!

A
Breckenridge Ski Resort

World Class Colorado Skiing! Dining and shopping as well.

B
Hoosier Pass

Hoosier Pass is on the Continental Divide and marks the transition from Park to Summit County. Great photo op with sign at 11,542ft.

C
Alma

Quaint Colorado mountain town. Claims to be the highest incorporated town in the US. Great coffee shop, small tourist shops, and a couple of good bars.

D
Fairplay (South Park)

Mountain town with everything you need. Also the location of the open air museum South Park City--a great tourist attration. Fairplay is also the basis for the town of South Park in the comedy series "South Park"!

E
Mosquito Pass 4x4 Trail

Start of the world famous 4x4 trail "Mosquito Pass" that leads to Leadville. Awesome scenery. The actual pass is only open in the July-Sep timeframe due to snow at high elevation. Capable 4x4 is required.

F
Colorado Mining remains

The Irish Rose sits on a gold and silver mining claim from the 1800's. Remains of Colorado's mining past are all around the property, with one old mill right next to the house! Fun to explore, but respect private land.

G
Orphan Boy Mine

Remains of the Orphan Boy Mine. Use caution and 4x4 recommended. Always respect private land.

H
Mosquito Creek

River runs right through the property and by the house. Fall asleep to the sound of the river! Fishing and gold panning are fun at the small sandy area in front of the house!

I
The London Mine and Mill

The famous London Mill sits here and is very picturesque against the steep incline that leads up to the actual London Mine. The cables and structures that carried the ore to the mill can still be seen. The mine itself can be seen if you continue up toward Mosquito Pass, but it gets a bit rocky--capable 4x4 required!

J
Mosquito Pass

13,185ft! Small parking area with sign for photo oportunity. Road continues into Leadville.

K
Park City

Just a few old houses and structures remain of what was once a booming gold and silver mining town.

L
Kite Lake

Take CR8 or "Buckskin Gulch Road" to Kite Lake for breathtaking views. On the way, see the picturesque Paris Mill and ancient Bristlecone pine trees. At the lake is a trail head to climb three "fourteeners" in a day--Mount Democrat, Mount Lincoln, and Mount Bross.

M
Windy Ridge

The Bristlecone Scenic Area was established by the US Forest Service in 1964. These amazing trees are known to achieve lifespans of several thousand years! The winds from which the ridge gets its name have caused the trees to take on a tilted appearance.

Peaceful Thanksgiving

Guest: Sarah (Louiwville, Colorado )
Date of Stay: 11/19/11 Review Submitted: 11/27/11

We had a lovely Thanksgiving at the Irish Rose. Snow on the ground, sun in the sky, and peace all around. I think what we liked best was to be able to walk out the door to a trail through the woods and up the hill, with no need to get into the car. It was a bit late for the bears, but we saw a porcupine waddling along, quite near the house. Probably the nicest mix of remote and yet near local attractions (we skied twice at Breck) that we have experienced with VRBO.

We had a great time this weekend! Thank you Rich for your hospitality and flexibility. You have a beautiful property and we can see why so many people enjoy their stay. The Irish Rose offers everything as advertised. The creek has good size brown trout for fly fishers. The property is spacious and in a remote location. The Irish Rose is close enough to Breck and Alma to make a quick trip if necessary.

September Mountain Getaway

Guest: Penny (Colorado Springs)
Date of Stay: 09/23/11 Review Submitted: 10/04/11

I stayed at the Irish Rose from 23-27 Sep 2011. I was looking for some peace, quiet and tranquility - and I definitely found it here. The cabin was well equipped (the best of any vaction rental I've ever stayed at), clean and comfortable. The setting was what could take your breath away - not to mention the autumn colors at their peak! I also was able to see one of the "local" black bears and the moose - which was truly a highlight. The property proved to be a great home base for exploring all through the area - Alma, Fairplay, Como and Breckenridge. I left a little detailed journal of my explorations and experiences in the cabin guestbook in case anyone needs any more ideas for what to do (although there are plenty of informational packets/books available in the cabin). I cannot express how much I enjoyed staying here and truly appreciate the assistance from Rich during the planning and reservation of the home. All in all, it was a great get-away weekend in the mountains! Thanks Rich and Angela!

Solitude with Beautiful Scenery!

Guest: Adrian & Patty (North Dakota)
Date of Stay: 07/21/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

Our family spent three nights at the Irish Rose, and it was wonderful. The property is quiet and secluded, with plenty of places to explore. Fairplay is a quick drive away, and had everything we needed. It was great falling asleep to the sound of the creek behind the house and looking at the stars through the skylight. This really is a great place to get away and enjoy God’s creation!

4 adults enjoyed a perfect time at the Irish Rose for a week. The house was so well equipped, and more than that. There were so many games videos and books that would keep everybody well occupied. The georgeous scenery alone was enough. We took hikes and several drives to Allma, Fairplay, Como, Leadville, Breckinridge, etc. We enjoyed fishing in Mosquito Creek, within a short walk from the house. Now we are planning on bringiing our whole family up next year.

Our two families just returned from five fabulous nights at the Irish Rose. The setting is gorgeous and the owners couldn't be more helpful. Everything we could have possibly needed was provided in the cabin and the great outdoors provided endless hours of entertainment for the kids. We highly recommend the Irish Rose!

Best vacation ever!

Guest: Jason and Jen (Atlanta, GA)
Date of Stay: 06/03/11 Review Submitted: 06/23/11

Our family had the opportunity to kick-off our summer at the Irish Rose. It is truly an outstanding retreat that is convenient to Denver and Colorado Springs, yet isolated enough to be a great retreat. The owners have created a wonderful place and our teenage sons had a blast exploring the property and hiking throughout the Mosquito Gulch/Ten Mile Range area. I would wholeheartedly recommend the Irish Rose to anyone! Thank You Rish and Angela!

Awesome Mountain Experience

Date of Stay: 02/17/11 Review Submitted: 03/03/11

Our family stayed at the Irish Rose over Presidents day weekend. We all loved our stay. The boys loved the mountains, we loved playing games around the fire in the evening, cooking big meals at night, sleeping in when it was completely quiet, having a big mountain breakfast, and skiing and shopping all day. What a wonderful time for our family to spend together, one with many pictures that we will remember forever. Thanks again

Wonderful Irish Rose Experience!

We just came back from a lovely weekend at the cabin. A Stunning view greeted us each morning. The beautiful surroundings made for a perfect afternoon of snowshoeing. My 10 year old was fascinated by the old mine we found. We could tell the back yard is a perfect place to spend a summer evening as well. Close to Breckenridge for the snow sculpture contest. We had everything we needed for terrific dinners and game night by the fire. Thanks for sharing your home! We would love to do it again.
