Here, you’ll experience the Old Hawaii of the late 1800’s, with boardwalks, shops and a great choice of restaurants.

We stayed at Kapoho View the 1st week of March 2011.We found the ad and pictures of Kapoho View to be accurate and everything we expected. The home is spacious and comfortable complete with a wrap around covered deck which we used for morning coffee, enjoying the view and the lush surroundings. The beds were very comfortable. (we used the main bedroom and loft) We made good use of the binders listing information about the local sights and how to access hidden treasures such as the hike to Shipman Beach. We found the location of the house to be great as it is close to the interesting lava potholes for snorkelling, the hot water pool and the very scenic drive to Kalapana where we walked through the glowing lava flows. We were lucky to be there for the latest eruption. Nearby Pahoa is a lively little town with good restaurants and live music. The Volcano National Park was a highlight for us. We would recommend the hike into Kilauea Iki crater. In Hilo had 3 excellent Thai meals at the Full Moon Cafe. (its worth the 45 minute drive over to Hilo) All in all staying at Kapoho View we feel we experienced life in real Hawaii.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.
