thirteenth floor corner unit

Guest: Lance and Jody (Mount Vernon, wa)
Date of Stay: 01/19/12 Review Submitted: 02/09/12

We just returned from a weeks vacation at Hawaiian Princess. Our first reaction was, Wow. The condo was stocked with everything you could want and more. Plenty of towels, linens and daily supplies. The veiw was breath taking!! The property was clean and the staff was very friendly. We did not arrive until 2am and had no trouble getting in with the guard on duty. The private iron gate to the condo made us feel very safe day and night. Thank you for sharing your sunny spot on Oahu. Lance and Jody

Great Condo!

Guest: Jim (Indiana)
Date of Stay: 10/20/11 Review Submitted: 12/02/11

The ocean sounds are rhythmic, calming and loud. It was VERY clean and certainly had everything we needed. The lay out is nice with three sliding glass doors to the lanai, including one in the bedroom. We never felt crowded in any way, and there’s lots of extra storage space in the walk-in closet. All the furniture is good, very comfortable bed, great shower, and no problems with any of the appliances – all seemed new. Besides the spectacular, panoramic view of Turtle Cove, the higher corner units also have an unobstructed view to the north, and the entire Makaha valley. So, being on the 13th floor, this condo looks over the Cabanas (condo units next door), not into them. We stayed for a week in October 2011 and have already booked for next year. Fred is easy to communicate with and responds quickly to questions and/or concerns.

Turtles, Fish, Dolphins

Great place to stay if you love the ocean. From the lanai with my binoculars I spotted a pod of dolphins one morning. In the evenings the turtles come close in to feed off the seaweed on the rocks. The water is so beautiful and CLEAN....not like the beaches in Waikiki. Fun to watch people doing stand-up paddle boarding across the water. Very well-equipped kitchen and huge walk-in closet in the bedroom. The unit also has beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkel gear, and swim noodles.

Can't remember how we found this property, but... We were looking for an "oceanfront condo on Oahu". Of course there were a number if hits, but nothing like this 13th floor, corner unit north of Waianae on the West coast - the leeward side of the island. It's a well appointed unit, comfortable bed and all of the appliances you'll need, including a larger flat screen TV in the living room with a DVD/VHS player and a smaller flat screen in the bedroom with a DVD player. There's an updated kitchen, a nice large shower, a walk-in closet and a WONDERFUL wrap-around deck/lanai with views west and north. Below in the common area - a ping pong table, loads of books to read and a couple of natural gas barbecues. We met people from Vermont, Chicago and Colorado while enjoying a glass of wine while our meal was cooking to perfection! But the best deal? From our lanai we could watch turtles swimming in the cove - turtle cove. Take the elevator down and literally step out to the Pacific Ocean! There's a beautiful sandy beach with not only turtles you can swim with, but many varieties of tropical fish in the healthy coral in the cove. You can snorkel or rent a paddle board or even try your hand at surfing. A number of locals enjoy the beach - men fishing and kids showing their stuff on boogie boards! The beach was never crowded, the water was always warm and no matter how colorful, watching the sun set each evening was incredible! We read mixed reviews but decided those that didn't care for the area just needed to stay home. The locals are friendly and if a moment of insanity emerges, Honolulu and Waikiki are only 35 minutes away. Trails and more beaches abound if you want to get out and explore. We purchased food the evening we arrived and never left! There was no reason to! Beach, pool, hot tub, good books, internet, snorkeling, preparing your own meals... Who could want more? Enjoy!

Great Getaway!

Guest: Jeff (Greensboro, Georgia)
Date of Stay: 03/08/11 Review Submitted: 03/18/11

Great views! We had breakfast on the lanai every day and watched the turtles, surfers, and people walking the beach. We really enjoyed meeting some of the other guests at the grill area outside the building. We were there during the tsunami, and felt very safe on the 13th floor. No hair dryer provided, so please pack one. The kitchen had lots of cookware and utensils, and even though there is no ice maker, there were plenty of ice trays in the freezer that were full when we arrived. We arrived at night, and the security personnel were very helpful. It was difficult to see while punching-in the lock box number as there is no overhead lighting at that location. Played golf at the Makaha Resort nearby, and it was a good course, and the green fees were reasonable. We didn't look for any local restaurants, as we either cooked-in or visited friends elsewhere on the island. We couldn't get the local property manager to respond to any phone calls. Unless someone leaves a note otherwise, guests will have to call/email the property owner to obtain the wireless network access code.

We stayed in November 2010. Everything is true to the pictures that you look at. Amazing beach!! Lovely condoVery comfortable bed, and furniture. Amazing views, and the glass sliding doors brought the ocean right into the room:) The town is friendly, but not much to do. The local grocery store had everything we needed. make sure you get some Ahi Poki, one of my fav's. I will say that we are "foodies" and we were very disappointed that there wasn't any good restaurants for dinner. So dont waste you money. Best was the truck along the road selling "killer shrimp" that was yummy! You will need to head west about 30 min. there you will find several good places. For the most part we stayed at our place and made our own amazing food. All and All I cant wait to go back....just love it!

Hidden Oais of Hawaii

Idealic hideaway. Second honeymoon surrounds. Heaven in a getaway. There is nothing we didnt like, from the scenery, to the room, to the staff. We cant wait to come again... and we will! If you are tired of the crazy shoppers and tourists of Waikiki, then its time for Makaha... it is local, but everyone is friendly and helpful! We will stay here again and again... Did I mention the turtles that swim by your balcony every morning and the sounds of crashing waves each night to fall asleep to. This is truly a hidden find that we were lucky to come across!

This was the best condo I have ever stayed at in Hawaii! (and I have been going to Hawaii for over 20 years). The location is breathtaking. You are RIGHT ON THE BEACH. From every room in the condo you have a million dollar, 180 view of the ocean! The condo is neat, clean and decorated well. Then they also provide everything you need for a fun day at the beach, chairs, mats, ice chest, etc... and the beach is just steps away from the condo building. I would DEFINITELY go again.

We spent a few nights at this beautiful condo. First of all the location is spectacular! From anywhere in the condo you have a million dollar view of the ocean. The condo was clean and decorated well. It also came with all the works, buggie boards, mats, chairs, ice chest... everything you need for a fun day at the beach, which was only steps away from the condo building!!!! I will definitely go again!

Favorite Vacation rental!

Guest: Ed V (Los Angeles, California)
Date of Stay: 08/13/10 Review Submitted: 12/09/10

I've stayed at this condo three times now over the past five years and have LOVED it each and every time! The condo is near the top floor and a corner unit which doubles the size of the Lanai. I've looked at other units in the same building and the corner units are MUCH nicer! The views are incredible! I love watching the sea turtles from the Lanai! The location is great ! Makaha is beautuiful and a short (:30min) drive to Wikiki. The condo itself is nicely updated and self contained with a full kitchen and washer and dryer along with cable television, DVD Player and stereo. This is by far one of my favorite relaxing vacation destinations and will be staying again!

wonderful vacation

We had a wonderful vacation at the Hawaiian Princess. The location was perfect, right on the beach away from the crowds. The beach was quiet, uncrowded with beautiful sunsets. We enjoyed the snorkeling and seeing the turtles. All the locals we met were friendly and helpful. The condo was very nice, clean, roomy and fully equipped. Having the corner unit was great because of the extra space and extra bathroom. The master bedroom room was spacious and we enjoyed seeing and hearing the ocean from the bedroom. We enjoyed the gas barbecues and the pool and jacuzzi. The condo and beach were prettier than the pictures. We had a great time and plan to return.

Wonderful

Date of Stay: 09/18/09 Review Submitted: 10/05/09

Unit is all that is described. Large, with a fabulous lanai. Feels very secure with your own locked gate to get to your unit. Faces west, has to have some of the best sunsets on the island. Largest disappointment is that the town is VERY local. No upscale or even regular restaurants within 30 min. We bar-b-qued most nights. Don't recommend the beach for children. Sand is very soft, hard to walk on, no shells, and has a steep drop to the water. Waves were strong and we saw more than one person get tossed around. On the other hand, the strong waves make for great sound. Saw turtles everyday, even dolphins. Surfers in the next cove. Recommend you take binoculars. Lots of homeless living in tents along the drive to the unit. Kind of unnerving but nothing too close to Makaha. The real estate company you deal with is definitely on island time. Expect to have to keep on top of them to get correct invoices and final papers. Best location for those who want to just sit on the lanai and relax or are willing to drive, usually in traffic, to get to the sites. We saw the whole island but spent an hour + in the a.m. and an hour and a half in the p.m. getting back and forth. Beware, traffic on Oahu is wild! It's not for the timid.

Paradise in May

We had a wonderful week in this corner unit. The photos, as beautiful as they are, don't really do justice to the venue. We ate our meals outside, soaking up that unbelievable view. The condo was spacious, clean, well appointed and quiet. We had a relaxing getaway in paradise. This is a place to which we would like to return.

We were told the property was away from the hustle and bustle of busy Honolulu which was exactly what we wanted. The only problem with condo was we never wanted to leave it to explore the rest of the Island!!! It was just that nice! Peaceful, relaxing and breathtaking views. Fred was great to deal with and gave us many excellent tips on Oahu. Would recommend to those wanting a quiet vacation with the beach at your doorstep.

We were so pleased the condo was every bit as nice as advertised and more. The sound of the surf was so relaxing, and the views were magnificient. We were prepared for the commute to the busy city and airport, and it was always heavenly to return to the beauty and privacy at the condo. This corner unit has a wonderful wrap around lanai, and we truly felt it spacious for the two of us. The owners are so considerate and helpful. We were looking to experience Oahu away from Waikiki, and we feel fortunate to have found this retreat!

We never miss a sunset when we stay in this unit at the Hawaiian Princess. There is an amazing view from the 13th floor and we love that the beach is secluded and private. There is rarely more than 10 people on the beach at a time. The condo is so comfortable and welcoming that we barely leave when we stay there. It's definitely a slice of paradise!

We love this condo so much that it has been our vacation destination for the last 4 years. The condo is clean and has everything we need from nice soft sheets and towels to all the comforts of a home. The view is to die for. Most nights we cook our food on the BBQ down stairs and eat it on the lanai. You cannot get a better view then from the 13th floor. The water is so clear we can see the sea turtles from our room. The beach is not crowded and all the locals we have met have been kind and welcoming to us. If you like a quiet relaxing vacation I can highly recommend this beautiful condo.
