Make Allenwood your refuge away from the busy pace of life. As a young child we often traveled from New Orleans to Highlands with my family to escape the heat of the deep South. Now I have made my childhood dream of returning to this beautiful mountain town a reality. I am happy to share it with you and your family and friends to make memories of your own.

Allenwood, named after my father who introduced me to Highlands many years ago, offers 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths all on one level. The home was completely renovated in 2005 and features all the modern amenities you expect: inside oversized washer and dryer, Bosch dishwasher, gas range oven, updated bathrooms and jetted bathtub in the master. The 2-car garage provides plenty of space to store bikes or kayaks that you may bring with you. The rear deck is perfect for morning coffee (bring a sweater) or twilight suppers. Nearly 15 feet above the ground, it overlooks a gorgeous hemlock tree and offers a peaceful backdrop for lots of story-telling, game-playing and catching up. Outdoor dining is comfortable at the tile-topped table with 6 comfortable chairs. Grill to your heart's content on the new Weber charcoal grill.

Being from New Orleans we take our food very seriously, so we've equipped the kitchen with All-Clad pots and pans, Henckels knives and many handy utensils. All new stainless appliances (refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, Braun coffee maker, toaster oven, dishwasher, gas range/oven) make for easy food prep and clean-up. Hadley pottery place settings and table linens for 8 provide the perfect touch for your stay-at-home nights.

The home is decorated with custom artwork done by North Carolina and Louisiana artists, and features two Hickory chairs and ottomans in addition to a very comfortable 3-seater couch. Enjoy the gas logs fireplace on those cool evenings. We also have some board games for fun nights with family and friends.

If you must stay in touch with the world back home - or just need to check the score of your favorite team's game or the weather you left behind - the home offers free Wi-Fi access, so you may bring your wireless-enabled laptop along. We also have cordless phones in the master and kitchen. A DVD player, TV with cable access, and stereo with multi-disc CD player are available for your entertainment.
