Great, private location - can walk to anyplace in the village and to several beaches. The cottage is compact, but very comfortable and well provisioned with everything you could need - indoors and outdoors. Steve and Vicki are great hosts, next door but not obtrusive. Go the the market on Sundays - only 2 blocks away.

We stayed here for 4 nights in August 2011. Wonderful place to stay - quiet, clean, and the pictures don't do it justice. Loved the ability to come and go through a private entrance, and off-street parking is great. Quiet, pretty neighborhood - close and convenient to everything! We slept every night with the windows wide open in a comfortable king-size bed, and never woke up once. All the amenities are updated, clean and very nice! I don't understand an earlier review regarding the bathroom needing updating as it was bright, clean and well-stocked when we arrived. Although we had very little interaction with the owners while there, they were quick to respond to any emails and questions we had prior to arrival. Really a lovely place to stay and would definitely recommend to anyone!

My wife and I really enjoyed our time at this property. The owners were extremely nice and helpful. The neighborhood is safe and the house is walking distance to several local stores and restaurants. Although the property isn't perfect, it is a tremenous property for the price. The bathroom could be updated, but is clean and nice. The clothesline outside could be replaced as it was dirty. All that being said, we would definitely stay here again. The cottage is beautiful, the price is great value, and the location is unbeatable.

I recently was able to spend two weeks at this fabulously comfortable, tasteful, and centrally-located cottage whose photos don't do it justice. I was on an artistic retreat and didn't rent a car, and found the location ideal for bike and walk forays all over La Jolla. The peaceful setting was conducive to relaxation and recharging. The bed is perfect, the accomodations and linens pristine, and everything, including the gas fireplace, added to the experience of luxurious comfort. Recommend The Living Room coffee shop for atmosphere and tasty coffee and treats Recommend Pannikin for lunch/anytime. The Bistro across from Vons has wonderful food and atmosphere. Recommend biking to Bird Rock and walking along the coast bluff to the main beach. Painting at Cave Store lookout is great!

My husband and I spent a week in La Jolla recently to visit with family, and this was a wonderful home base for everything that the San Diego area has to offer. The cottage itself was sparkling clean, very comfortable, well-equipped and lovingly decorated. The small private patio was lovely. We are runners, and found plenty of easily accessible and safe running routes to explore. The location also offered tons of restaurants and shopping within easily walkable distances. While we didn't require any particular assistance from our hosts, they were very friendly and I'm sure would have been happy to answer questions or respond to any other concerns.

"Do you remember the student who achieved a mark of 110/100 on an exam? Steve and Vicki deserve 110%. They have thought of everything to provide their guests with comfort and a first class experience. The location is completely private and quiet. You snuggle down and hate to leave. Steve's artwork and Vicki's talents of design show their attention to detail. The location is central: walk everywhere to town and beach with easy access to main highways. Vicki and Steve's personal recommendations in a comprehensive book, complete with restaurant menus, maps, tourist destinations brochures assisted us in making wise choices. Vicki was kind enough to drive us to the local rental car office, taking a personal interest in our La Jolla experience. We would recommend this property highly. Thank you Steve and Vicki.

We love visiting La Jolla, and decided for our extended visit this year, we'd rent a cottage. We could not have done any better than Steve and Vicki's property! You know how you see pictures of a hotel online, and wonder "Can it really be that nice?". Well, in this case the real thing is even better! Completely private, quiet, with everything you could ask for...comfy king bed, large shower, fireplace, private parking. They even thought of the little things like providing ice on our arrival, not to mention a bottle of wine! Also had beach chairs and towels for warm weather vactaions. And having a washer and dryer made the trip less stressful, too. Location is perfect...walking distances to dozens of restaurants, Prospect Street, and the water. We joked on the last day we wanted to be like that commercial where the people say "Can't we stay just one more day", and it was tempting! But we will DEFINITELY be back!

This cottage is THE jewel by the sea. The decoration is perfect; location secluded and quiet; stay is clean and exceptionally comfortable. They have not forgetten that as guest, ammenities matter - including nice to haves for a beach trip. We walked or drove to the local restaurants, shops and beaches. This great place is no more than 5 minutes from everything in La Jolla. Reserve it while you can - you will not be disappointed.

A truly charming retreat! The cottage is just perfect for a relaxing getaway - the decor is stunning, it's quiet, private and Vicki and Steve have thought of everything to make it a comfortable and convenient stay. The location is optimal to explore by foot or by car. The cottage is walking distance to beaches, restaurants and shopping while still being tucked away on a quiet street. We've already recommended it to family and friends!
