Set in the hills just above Ocho Rios, with commanding views of the Diablo Mountains, Bromley has been a family home for five generations. Built on the foundations of a 16th century Spanish fort, Bromley is a working cattle property with a rich history. The house has generous bedroom suites, high ceilings, and wrap around balconies, each with their unique views, and is filled with books and antique colonial furniture including a custom made extra king size four-poster bed. There is a small pool and outdoor yoga platform and guests have access to the lovely Reggae Beach near Ocho Rios and are invited to use the owners' private two and a half acre beachfront property 20 minutes away by special arrangement.
Be pampered by Bromley’s warm and friendly staff who will prepare authentic Jamaican dishes featuring local produce. Bromley has a close association with Walkerswood Caribbean Foods who produce an internationally acclaimed range of seasonings and spices. (Sample menus available upon request.) Tour their factory in the nearby village and try some of their extensive range of hot sauces, chutneys, jams and jellies. Visit the local farmers market just up the road or stop by Job’s stand in the village for seasonal fruits and vegetables. There are a number of excellent restaurants nearby including the romantic and award winning Café Aubergine, set in Jamaica’s oldest extant ferry building.
To help you with this experience of authentic Jamaican country life, Alexandra Edwards, one of the owners will give advice, help with transportation and meal plans and arrange a variety of excursions including visits to local beaches, galleries, and beauty spots including Noel Coward’s Firefly. You can also try one of the many activities within reach of Bromley, horseback riding, river tubing, mountain biking in the Blue Mountains, kayaking (arranged by renowned Chukka Cove Tours), or deep sea fishing. Guests are also encouraged to make use of Kiyara Day Spa at the world class Jamaica Inn hotel. |
