Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2004
Steve & Shirl, property owners of Cozumel by the Sea since it was being built in 2004. Both have a passion for travel, visited many islands for 6 years looking for the perfect vacation rental location. Stumbled on this property while visiting the island and new it would be the perfect fit for travelers as there is something on the island for everyone. Steve is retired from UPS and the US Army Resrves and currently spends a few days a week as a financial planner assisting clients to retire with wealth, he is a world scuba diver and marathon runner, Shirl recently retired a 30 year career in Banking, her last project in banking was to start a new bank NUVO Bank & Trust Company where she was the SVP & Director of Creative Solutions, building the banks cash management platform. She is a tap dancer of 40 plus years, and is finally taking a suba diving course to become certified to enjoy the sport with Steve. As far as the marathons, she'll pass for now, he's amazing to begin this sport at the age of 63! I'll just travel the world with him and cheer him on from the sidelines. Steve will be running in the original Marathon in Athens Greece November 09, while Shirl plans the trip through the Ioanian and Cyclade islands before the race!
Why the Owner Chose Cozumel Island
We chose this vacation rental property and this island in Mexico because of the value for the dollar and what is available on the island for visitors. Water sports of course the diving, Cozumel is known for the reef that extends around the island, the many beaches the island has to offer, shopping, golf and so much beauty...unlike many islands, there is something on this island for everyone. Scuba diving being such a popular sport, we knew it would be an excellent source to draw from! We are very comfortable with the locals as the island is known for being safe and religious.
The Unique Benefits of this Condominium/Penthouse
When we are visiting the island it's hard to pull yourself from the property. The home has it's own private pool on the roof-top. Even though there are two community pools, you don't have to leave the home to go for a swim. The views of the sea are spectacular from 90% of the penthouse, watching the cruise ships pass in the morning on their way to town while swinging in a hammock, then off in the evening sunset on their way to their next destination. Another bonus is being able to go out the front door and walk the beach for miles without being stopped by someone trying to sell you something as you may find among other tourist destinations. The beaches are secluded, safe and usually deserted, the peacefulness and beauty are breathaking. We enjoy the location and the island for the friends we have met and feel very safe among the Cozumel locals. This has become a home away from home for us and for many repeat guests of Cozumel
