Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
Originally from Wisconsin, I was living in Minneapolis, Minnesota when I met my husband. He had been living in New York for many years and was renovating a brownstown in Harlem. We moved in after our wedding in 2003. We have enjoyed our 6 years in Harlem. Formerly a computer software consultant, I now stay home with our two children and manage our rental.
Why the Owner Chose Harlem (Central)
My husband bought this brownstone when it was just a shell with a burned-out interior. It had been empty for 15 years. He had it totally renovated and we moved in after our wedding in 2003. We live in the top 3 floors and orginally leased the bottom floor to long-term tenants. In 2006, we decided we would rather take on short-term renters and furnished it, with the hope of hosting vacationers. We stay in houses and villas instead of hotels when we travel the world, so it is fun for us to put up travelers on our end as well.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
We have enjoyed Harlem for it's unique mix of architecture, it's community feel and friendly neighbors and it's view of the sky (we are not surrounded by towering skyscrapers, most buidings are 6 stories or less). We are also in a very convenient location to get around Manhattan--equi-distant from the 2/3 subway and the 4/5/6 subway lines.

To Whom It May Concern: This document will serve as a letter of reference for anyone showing interest in renting the apartment at 19 East 129th St. New York, NY, operated by the Mr. and Mrs. Terryl Moreland. During the weekend of June 1, 2007, I along with my father had the occasion to rent the said apartment for a trip to New York City from Washington DC to attend a high school graduation. We found the apartment in immaculate condition, comfortable, clean, and equipped with all new furniture and appliances. Though we did not have occasion to avail ourselves of the washer and dryer in the apartment, it was a comfort to have it available. The modern appliances in the kitchen, flat-screen HD television with full cable TV, and all new furniture throughout the apartment assured that we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. We found the location in Central Harlem very convenient, being only a few blocks from the subway station, taxis, and the Metro North Regional train. We found the Moreland’s to be very hospitable, efficient, and of the highest personality character. I highly recommend the apartment for anyone wishing to have an excellent experience visiting New York. Sincerely Yours, Lumas Kendrick, Jr.
