The location was centrally located in Harlem and close to transportation (bus, subway). The facilities were adequate and we would recommend this location to others. The price was very reasonable. Jean, the owner, was very nice to deal with and her family home was on a very lovely tree-lined street.

The apartment was exactly as described and shown in the photos. It was clean, quiet and well equipped. We were a family of 5, with three young adults, and we wouldn´t have been able to invite them to this trip to NY if we haven´t found this apartment. We felt safe even in late late night when we walked from the subway to the apartment. When shopping in midtown or south manhattan we felt it was a somewhat long subway ride to Harlem, just to let go of the goods. But we learned to plan our shoppingtrips! Thanks Jean!

After having a bad experience with a scam artist on another property, we were a little leary on looking for another place. So when we found this one and told Jean about our story, she was very understanding and worked with us to make us feel comfortable and trust that this was a legit deal. The place was great! Close to the train, comfortable enough for the six of us (of coz girls could always use another bathroom but it still worked out!). I would highly recommend Jean's property to anyone, she's very nice and takes care of her guests. Would definitely rent it again for the next girls trip to NY. Thanks for everything Jean!!

We spend 10 days in april and had a very nice time there. The equipment is very good, everything is available and clean and the aera is calm. If you have a car, you will always find a parking but it's really not necessary as subway is some walking minutes away (but sufficient enough to avoid noise). If you need any information Jean and her family is just upstairs and is very helpful want ever you can ask for. We were 4 with our 2 children of the age of 17 and 15 Dominique from France

If you like getting out of the touristy parts of NYC and still have great access and food options, this is the place for you. We found the apartment very comfortable and affordable, with everything we needed for our stay. And it's just a few minutes' subway ride from every Manhattan attraction imaginable. A lot of people think Harlem isn't very safe, but we felt as comfortable here as anywhere in any city we've visited, and the locals were incredibly friendly and helpful. The owners have provided extensive information on sightseeing and getting around town, so it made our New York stay very easy. We found three restaurants (French, Italian, and soul food) within 3-4 blocks that were all excellent and not terribly expensive. This location is a great option for families and people making an extended stay. We'll be back!

The apartment was more than we expected and more than suited our needs. We had a wonderful experience and enjoyed exploring a different part of New York City. Location was great and close to subway/bus routes. I would highly recommend this apartment. Although we didn't get to spend much time in the apartment, it was great to return to a place that felt more like home than a hotel room at the end of a busy day. Thanks J. for allowing us to rent your apartment. We'd love to come back again.

Our family loved our stay at this apartment! We have 3 children aged 17, 15 and 11, and the apartment was spacious enough for all of us. It was very clean and well equiped just as described in the ad. I would recommend this apartment to family and friends.

We are a French family with 3 children of 17, 15 & 11. We appreciated our stay in this apartment. The description and the photos on the website reflect the reality. We appreciated the location close to the subway, the supermarket well provided, the apartment clean & well equiped. We also liked the book prepared by the owner with maps & addresses in the area. We found the area interesting and safe by day. However we would recommend the taxi by night. We will recommend this property to our friends.

The apartment was clean, spacious, and well equipped, exactly as advertised. Jean was most helpful; whenever I had a question, she was there to answer it with accurate answers. The wireless internet worked like a charm. I particularly liked that the kitchen was stocked with whatever non-perishable foods others had left behind, so I did not have to run out to get staples. I am a middle-aged female runner, and I enjoyed solo early morning runs in the neighborhood. The subways to the east side and west side are about a five-minute walk away in either direction, and the apartment is very convenient to Yankee stadium, to which I went twice during my weekend stay. There is a French bakery nearby with delicious croissants. I would stay here again and would recommend it to friends.

My family stayed in this beautiful apartment for five nights in March 2008. Jean was kind enought to accomodate eight people in her lovely two-bedroom apartment. I travel to New York frequently, but this was my first time staying in Harlem. I found it to be very nice. The apartment was a beautiful brownstone and the apartment was on the ground level of the landlord's home (so we had assistance as needed). It was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. There was a bodega on the corner for quick shopping and a full grocery store within walking distance. We found the neighborhood to be very safe. We walked home from the subway every night (a five minute walk) between 11pm and midnight and although we were cautious, we never felt unsafe and never felt the need to take a cab. Also, Yankee Stadium is only two subway stops away and very convenient. Times Square was about a 15 minute ride (depending on the time of day). I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We were a girl scout troop from Virginia Beach, VA. We found the accomodations to be perfect for our size. The rental included more than we expected. The size of the apartment was big enough that we were not cramped. Jean could not have been any sweeter. Whenever we had a question or needed something, we called her and she helped us immediately. The location of the apartment was very convenient to trains. We took the trains everywhere we needed to go and did not have to worry about driving around in Manhattan and finding parking spaces at the places we visited. We would highly recommend this rental to anyone. They will not be disappointed.

Five of us had a delightful stay in this beautiful brownstone apartment. The amenities were exceptional: comfy beds and linens, modern applinances including washer/dryer, cable flat screen TV. Harlem was lovely and the subway/bus access were very convenient to NYC attractions. We had a packed week including two Yankee games (only 3 subwaystops away), Broadway, Coney Island Beach, etc. I recommend the accomodation highly. The landlords upstairs were very hospitable and helpful. Two Minnesotans and Three Iowans

We found the apartment to be very comfortable and well equipped. The kitchen had all the basics necessary to cook a meal. Both a large and small grocery store were close by as were the subway and bus stops. We enjoyed our stay very much. One must keep in mind that they are staying in Harlem and take the appropriate precautions but having said that, I never felt unsafe, even with small children. I would recommend the apartment and especially recommend the Morelands as hosts - they were great!

This is a delightful apartment, with all the comforts you have at your own home. Getting into Manhattan was easier either by bus or tube. I went with my husband and two children aged 13 and 18, I was nervous for either of the children to go out on their own, but we all enjoyed our stay.

To Whom It May Concern:This document will serve as a letter of reference for anyone showing interest in renting the apartment at 19 East 129th St. New York, NY, operated by the Mr. and Mrs. Terryl Moreland. During the weekend of June 1, 2007, I along with my father had the occasion to rent the said apartment for a trip to New York City from Washington DC to attend a high school graduation. We found the apartment in immaculate condition, comfortable, clean, and equipped with all new furniture and appliances. Though we did not have occasion to avail ourselves of the washer and dryer in the apartment, it was a comfort to have it available. The modern appliances in the kitchen, flat-screen HD television with full cable TV, and all new furniture throughout the apartment assured that we had a very pleasant and comfortable stay. We found the location in Central Harlem very convenient, being only a few blocks from the subway station, taxis, and the Metro North Regional train. We found the Moreland’s to be very hospitable, efficient, and of the highest personality character. I highly recommend the apartment for anyone wishing to have an excellent experience visiting New York.Sincerely Yours, Lumas Kendrick, Jr.
