We had a 2 week stay here - there were 5 of us and we had plenty of space and were very comfortable. The environment is beautiful. There is lots to do. And it was a great place to get rest, be refreshed, enjoy a fireplace, and take great walks. Loved it! And it was for a great price too. We searched a lot before we found this place and it was by far the best.

We just returned from a 3-night stay and had a fabulous time. For us, this was a family event, ages 11 mos to 90 yrs old! Everyone was happy! Equipped with everything you can imagine. Kitchen had more equipment than my own house, made meal preparation easy for our group, even for our apple crumble baking and food prep for 8 adults. The baby was thrilled with a closet full of toys, a high chair, and nothing particularly edible or breakable at her height. Nice to have plenty of space for all of us, yet privacy in the bedrooms. The open kitchen-diningroom-livingroom is a great layout for groups or families, attractively decorated, well maintained and very clean. This home was the perfect base for our fall leaf-peeping trip. Close by we picked apples at Dickie's orchard, carved pumpkins, hiked crabtree falls, drove the blue ridge parkway and skyline drive, and found several restaurants in the surrounding towns. For quick groceries/snacks, the blackrock market is within walking distance as is the main inn at Wintergreen and its restaurant. Barbara was extremely helpful in our preparation for our trip, and her emailed info packet has tons of information about the property and surrounding activities. Thumbs Up!

I stayed at this property with 5 of my friends for a ladies' getaway weekend. The house was just perfect for our group. It was a very comfortable and cozy home and was tastefully decorated. The house was exactly as described in the brochure and was very clean and well-maintained. The owner was very helpful and supplied us with detailed information about the Wintergreen resort and surrounding area. The house was conveniently situated to have easy access to the Wintergreen resort activities and restaurants. We played tennis on the indoor courts, golfed at Devil's Knob, at ate at The Edge and Coppermine Bistro - all located within 5 minutes of the house. We also visited several area wineries that were within a 20-minute drive. In the evening, our ladies' groups likes to play a lot of different games. The dining table in the house sat 8 people and it was just perfect for our game nights. Our group does our ladies' getaway at this time every year and we have been to about 5 other locations. Everyone in the group felt this was the best home we have rented and we hope to go back again next year.
Owner response:We're so glad that our renters loved our house.. we do our best to make it a true vacation home!

This was our first vacation at Wintergreen. Out trip was relaxing and peaceful. The mountain house was clean, spacious, and cozy. We had 8 adults and 1 child and had plenty of room. I would highly recommend this house and you can't beat the rates. The home owners were very gracious and helpful. We will be back soon!!

This was our first family vacation to Wintergreen and we had a wonderful time! We were very pleased with the Mountain House accomodations. It was very spacious, clean and warm. The location was central with easy access to the slopes either by the shuttle or by walking. There was a lot of ice during our stay and at one point we thought we would be stuck in the house because we could not get out of the driveway. The next thing we knew there were two men clearing the driveway for us. We didn't even have to call, they just showed up - this was a very nice touch. I would absolutely recommend this house to others. You will not be disappointed!

We recently visited Wintergreen for the first time and were extremely pleased with The Mountain House accomodations and value. The weekend we were there was extremely cold and blustery, but the house was plenty warm and toasty. We enjoyed the fireplace, spacious kitchen and dining areas, and especially appreciated the cleanliness and overall well-kept accomodations. The homey, seasonal decor was an added bonus! The location is very close to the main ski rental facility, about .5 miles. (We could have walked had it not been so cold). We would definitely return and recommend to others!

I agree with all the glowing comments posted by others. The home is very large and well appointed. There's no air conditioning, but even though the temperature was in the lower 90s in valley during our stay, it never rose above 78 F at the house, and there are refreshing ceiling fans everywhere. Although Wintergreen is large, you are never more than 5-10 minutes drive from anywhere. The WiFi worked perfectly and we liked the digital door locks - never had to worry about bringing or losing housekeys. There is no garage, but there is secure a garage-sized storage area adjacent to the driveway where you can store your bikes, skis and other large equipment. The owner is extremely responsive to all inquiries. We would not hesitate to return or recommend this house to others. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

I can't say enough about this house - simply amazing. Big enough for our large group to stay comfortably. Everything you could want is included with the house. Nice deck and grill to entertain guests. Comfortable beds.. centrally located.

Visited this rental on the weekend of March 21st, 2009 and what a great time! The house is great, sleeps 10 easily, five full sized bedrooms, a HUGE kitchen, great grill outside, comfortable family room with fireplace and flat screen tv, great dining area with room for our entire group! Cannot say enough about the property and how great it was! Owners are very hospitable, friendly and easy to reach. All emails or phone calls were promptly returned, and overall made the process much easier on me, a first-timer! Will definitely be back next ski season and looking forward to it!

Dear Barbara and Family, Thank you for such a smooth and helpful rental process. The house was absolutely wonderful -- equiped with everything we could possibly need for our family Thanksgiving dinner and celebration! The furnishings were comfortable, the fireplace (and free wood!) warm and inviting, the views gorgeous, and your directions and recommendations perfect. We've stayed in several vacation homes, and this one was by far tops! We also appreciated your flexibility with our dates, and the extra effort to have the heat and hot water ready upon our arrival. We'll always have great memories of our family putting together puzzles at the large table, toasting by the fireplace, and watching old movies on the big TV. Thanks again, and we hope to come back to the Mountain House soon! Regards, Gayle Dillon and Family

This is truly a wonderful place to "get away from it all" and enjoy some quiet solitude with your family. It seems too good to be true, but for once what you see IS what you get and it is perfect. Don't hesitate to believe this one! We are so grateful to the owners for providing such a "good deal" both for the money and for the exceptional space!

This is by far the best house we have ever rented. The owners are congenial and thoughtful, and the house is well appointed and maintained. It is in a very convenient area of the mountain, close to the lodge and store, but part of a quiet neighborhood. Our stay could not have been any nicer. We definitely plan to return!

I had been to WIntergreen before, for one of their night ski events, but never stayed the night. A group of girl friends and I went and stayed the weekend, it was beautiful. The house was immaculate. There was enough room for all of us to sleep comfortably and prepare large meals, where everyone could sit at the large dining table and eat together. We spent most of out time sitting on the large back porch, enjoying the Wintergreen Vineyard's wines, and the mountain air. We had a wonderful time. The house is very close to a great country store which provides movie rentals, wines, and a small bistro. We had a great time, and we are sure to return very soon.

The house was warm and welcoming! I enjoyed the weekend get-a-way with the girls. We spent a majority of our time on the deck enjoying the beautiful mountain and gorgeous weather. I would recommend visiting Wintergreen Resort if you want to get away from the busy day to day schedule of life.

The house was beautiful, it had everything we needed (especially in the kitchen.) We found board games in the closet and had fun with those in front of the fire. The deck was perfect! Even though it was chilly at night we sat out there with jackets on. The bedroom areas can be closed off from the rest of the house which made it enjoyable for those who stayed up late and those who went to bed early. The store was close, the dumpsters were close, the driveway accommodated all of our cars and the owners are very friendly! We couldn't have asked for it to be better!

Amazingly appointed home with all the extra amenities you could desire! A truly welcoming home... Gas grill,WiFi, expansive deck, hideaway lofts in upper bedrooms that the kids adored, ample parking, updated throughout...and, in a fantastic location (walking distance to town & store). Lovely owners who genuinely care about your experience in their home and in Wintergreen! Enjoy

Beautiful house! We have stayed in almost everything Wintergreen has to offer and by far we loved your house the best. The house had everything you could possibly think of and in very good condition. Kids (8 & 2) had lot of fun sleeping in the bunk beds and were truly amazed to find toys, movies, books for their age. My husband was very happy with Wi-Fi connection, in fact he said that it was much better than our house here. We just got back from out week long stay, and are already planning for another visit. Overall, starting from renting till we mailed our keys, everything was a very pleasant experience.

The house was absolutely perfect. Relaxing, quiet, warm and visitor friendly. I have rented other house in the past but I rate this home at the top of the list. The grounds are lovely and there is plenty to do. If you are interested in renting this is the place for you.
