Loved the cabin, (though more like a mobile/modular home), is was warm and cozy and very comfortable for the two of us. The screened in porch was a favorite reading spot for me. Perfect location....close enough to downtown Durango, far enough to be quiet and private. Owner lives local and has 5 properties total. Would not hesitate to book with Kris again in one of her properties. Don't miss the free concert in the park downtown on the 1st Thursday of the month; bring a blanket and chairs, picnic or fresh bread and cheese from the bakery across the street and a bottle of wine or locally brewed beer from one of the micro breweries in town. Everybody, including the locals gather with family, friends and the pets there. It was great fun! Also take a drive over to Ouray, all I can say is breathtaking snenery and a quaint, charming little town. Loved it some much here, would consider moving here!!Owner response: Thanks Lynne & Gary for the excellent review on our Cabin. So glad to hear you really enjoyed your stay with us. We have five other vacation rentals in the same area. Hope you'll come back and try all of them!! Thanks again, Lana

This cabin is situated in a perfect spot; against the bluffs, across from a horse ranch and 5 minutes outside of town. The cabin itself is fantastic with views every direction and an observation setting on the ridge above it. You can hike a short distance right up to the bluffs. A place to relax and read and walk or to experience thr narrow gauge train; dog friendly shopping. Restaurants I tried and loved included No Way Jose for great Mexican; The Red Snapper for wonderful fish and Cyrpess Grille for great soup/sandwich. Jean Pierre has Apricot Strudels and more. For my dog and I, it was perfection. And for someone who always headed towards the ocean for vacation, this was a pleasant surprise. I plan to come back and I plan to book this cabin when I do.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Had planned on being accompanied on this vacation, but circumstances made this a solo trip for me and it could not have been better. The cabin was perfect for my sanctuary for the week's stay in Durango. It was very safe, quiet, and had all the necessities of comfort. Well, I wasn't totally alone. My two dogs made the trip with me, and all 3 of us had a grand time. You cannot go wrong with this rental. I would NOT recommend it for more than two adults and one child. A horseback trail ride with Rapp Corral is a must, as is making the trip on the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Steam train. Learn to Fly Fish with Will Blanchard or one of the other guides with Animas Valley Anglers. Enjoy!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks for the wonderful review Kathy. Look forward to having you back for your next vacation! All the best! Lana

The cabin is perfect for 2 people. It is small but it is so darn cute and the screened porch is delightful to enjoy the fresh mountain air. We even watched two rock climbers one afternoon until the they reached the top. What an accomplishment! Durango is a quaint town that keeps growing there is so much to see and do and lots of great restaurants. The cabin is a great place to chill out and it is pet friendly.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks Michele for the great review. Hope to see you again next year!! Take care, Lana

We spent 12 days in your cute & quaint cabin. All of the comforts of home! Loved the screened in porch, and cement patio in back, with wrought iron table and chairs. We had a lovely salmon dinner on the grill, overlooking the mountain cliffs. Loved the Durango area! Despite staying for 12 days, we still left many activities undone. So many hikes to take! Loved the train ride through the canyons to Silverton, the car tour from Durango, up to Silverton, then up to Ouray, and around to Telluride. The mountains surrounding Ouray were breathtaking! Really how I would envision the Swiss Alps! Do watch the speed trap zzz you come to Dolores. Loved the hikes, especially up Engineer Mountain, strenuous, but well worth the effort! Glorious views. If we should find ouselves back in the Durango area again, we would love to return to your cozy cabin. Thanks again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, girls getaway, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Hi Chris & Sue, Thanks for the beautiful review on the Cabin! We hope you'll come and see us again sometime. Enjoy the rest of the Summer, Lana

Xmas 2010- We had a wonderful and idyllic Xmas break. Durango is a fantastic place and the area has lots of outdoor opportunities. We skied Purgatory twice (one day in 2 feet of powder!!!) snowshoed at Valllecito Reservoir, hiked part of the Colorado Trail and also the trail behind the house, made it to the top of Animas mountain, enjoyed Mesa Verde in the snow (spectacular!) and drove across Molas Pass to Silverton and Ouray. We're are looking forward to being back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/1
