Why the Owner Chose Antigua

I had been living for 16 years in Antigua and sold my travel agency, and decided to invest in building this beautiful home to sell. Unfortunately, I made the classic mistake of falling in love with it, and although I was given a very nice offer for the house, after a lot of deliberation, I decided to live there. It was my home for a couple of years, and for schooling reasons, we have moved to Lake Atitlan, so I now offer short term Antigua vacation rentals.

The Unique Benefits at this House

The house is so conveniently located, and all amenities, hotels, restaurants, tourist spots, are within walking distance. My house is very safe, as it is located within a guarded gated community with friendly neighbors.

You will love the attention to detail with the exposed brick, old antique wood and old iron work, as well as all the antiques and art work on the walls.

With 3 open fireplaces, a jacuzzi-tub and King Size bed, as well as the included maid service, you cannot go wrong.

Our Concierge/Property Manager, Paola, is nearby for any travel arrangements you might need, or any restaurant bookings. Just let us know

Our welcome basket and welcome notes too, I believe show you how much we care that you get the feeling of having a "home away from home"

    • What an absolutely fantastic home! Immediately upon entering my breath was taken away by the beauty of the stone and wood and the magnificent artwork throughout. Each room was gorgeous and large. Even with the beautiful art, etc, it is a wonderfully comfortable and homey spot. My partner and I were traveling with a family of four and we all had great privacy when needed but enjoyed the large living room and dining room/kitchen when we were together. The bathrooms are wonderful. And the views from the upstairs bedrooms are stunning. The house was spotlessly clean and all the necessities (linens, dishes, etc) for our stay were abundant and of high quality. Location is perfect - close enough to walk to sites and restaurants in Antigua. But far enough way to be delightfully quiet -- and safe! Dona Clara is wonderful and very sweet. Thank you so much, Philippa. Jeanne

    • My husband and I stayed in this fantastic home for 1 mo this past January. We have to say everything was perfect-from the volcano views to the commodious rooms to the high speed internet access and cable TV. Of course Clara was the shining jewel as both housekeeper and, on occasion, cook. Another positive thing to note was the very fine gated community. We were welcomed by neighbors from near and far. In fact we were so impressed that we may return to look for a place for ourselves on a more permanent basis. Don't hesitate to rent this property-the owner, the housekeeper and the community all add up to five stars! Kathy Rose and Hal Vogel

    • I want to thank you for the lovely accommodations for our stay in your home in Antigua. It was like a dream living in a castle, the interior decor was very unique. The balcony overlooking the plush tropical garden patio and the beautiful scenic view from our bedroom, viewing the volcano mountains was incredible. It was indeed a wonderful and relaxing stay for our family. We also appreciated the use of the cell phone and umbrellas. Your housekeeper, Clara is such a sweetheart, we really appreciated having her tiding up the house each day..... Feel free you use our recommendation of appreciation for advertisement for your website. Thanks again for the use of your lovely home in Antigua. Warmest regards Helmut and Bernice Fraund

    • We had an absolutely fantastic time at this wonderful home. The views of the volcano are spectacular and the location is superb. We woke up every morning and walked to the bakery for pastries and coffee. We brought our three children with us and the house easily housed us all. Super clean, great location, and wonderful owner.

    • Philippa, thank you so much for providing the perfect base for our recent stay in Antigua. The house is lovely in every respect and had everything (and more) that we could possibly have needed during our stay. We particularly enjoyed relaxing on the terraces after a day of shopping - the views of the volcano are amazing! The location of the house was also perfect, steps away from the central market and shopping district but quiet and secluded. I will be recommending your house to anyone planning a trip to Antigua. Thanks again for everything.

      Homeowner Response:
Thank you! I am so happy you enjoyed your stay at my house in Antigua. We hope to see you back before too long.

    • Alex & I flew directly from our wedding to your house in Antigua & it was the perfect place for us to begin our lives together as husband and wife. Beautifully and comfortably appointed, situated in a private, safe, and convenient part of town with multiple breathtaking, unobstructed views of Agua Volcano, and run like a luxury hotel by the lovely and amazing chef, Doña Clara, this house has to be one of the best on VRBO. I highly recommend it to families or friends traveling together, as there is plenty of private space in the house and 4 lovely bedrooms. But it was also a treat for honeymooners like us! The hammock, the garden, the giant patio with Agua view - all these plus every amenity of home made our 3 weeks in Antigua magical. Many thanks to you & to Doña Clara for providing a "dream home" for us to start our married life together.

    • I spent a week in this beautiful villa with my adult son, daughter and my daughter's friend. The pictures do not begin to do it justice: it is a truly lovely home with local art on the walls and in special niches, good bed linens, a fully-equipped kitchen, high speed Internet, beautiful views from the balconies...! The layout was perfect for our group--my son had a bedroom and bath downstairs, I had a room and bath at one end of the upstairs hallway, and the girls each had a bedroom and shared a bath at the other end. The gated facility made us feel very secure (although there was nothing about Antigua that made me feel insecure--day or night). The housekeeper is a charming woman and Gustavo tended to our every need and responded quickly to any little emergency--a tv remote that didn't work, etc... The location is a long block to the main commercial street, and the artisans' market, and about 6 blocks from Central Park --Parque Central. Antiqua is a must-see destination. In my mind, it ranks with Prague as a beautiful and romantic destination. The citizens are most gracious and will speak to you in Spanish if you are able, but most also speak enough English to get by if your Spanish fails you. I have rented many vrbo properties around the world and this one certainly is among the best! I recommend it without hesitation or reservation. One caution about visiting Antigua if you require wheelchair accessibility: the roads and sidewalks are so bumpy that they can be difficult even for someone who has no physical challenges. Everyone should bring sturdy walking shoes. Flip flops present a hazard. Our favorite restaurants include: Frida's, La Fonda de la Calle Real, Cafe Contessa, Rainbow Cafe for breakfast/lunch(co-located with the travel agency that we used for all of bookings, and a bookstore), and Cafe Dona Luisa (sit upstairs near the window for a volcano view). Also Panza Verde for its ambience and good, though not local, food. Finally: bring mosquito repellent. There are not a lot of them, but the ones that live here are nasty little devils. Be sure to visit Casa Santo Domingo at night: it wil take your breath away.

    • Philippa, Thanks for allowing us to stay in your beautiful Antigua home. For most of our group, this was our first time in Antigua and we had an amazing trip. The home was perfect for our group. Everyone had a their own private space and we enjoyed the dining room and living room and the high speed Internet. The view of the volcano was a special treat, and Dave especially enjoyed the hammock. We had breakfast one morning and dinner one evening at Casa Santa Domingo which was fabulous. We also highly recommend breakfast at the coffee plantation. We will be sure to tell others about our fabulous home.

      Homeowner Response:
Thank you. This means a lot especially knowing that you are the founders of the VRBO web site!! Look forward to having you back again.
