We went with this cabin rental at the suggestion of a camp ground owner who had no more rentals at their float trip place the weekend before the 4th of July. The booking process was easy, and Sam (the owner of the cabin) was very responsive to my emails. My 5 friends and I went down for a float trip and party/relaxation weekend, and had a wonderful time. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. It has 4 spacious bedrooms, each with comfy beds, and linens provided. The one bathroom was quite cute and towels were provided as well. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed (and more). Sam and Nora were wonderful hosts, and stopped by to see if we needed anything, and Nora even helped me to air up my slumping tire before we left on Sunday. I would definitely stay here again and would also recommend this place to friends. It is just a few short miles to a few different float trip places, so you can rent a raft/canoe at several different places nearby. I'd love to come back with just a couple of people or my spouse and have a more quiet, relaxing weekend in the fall. Thanks for everything!Did you find this review helpful? My husband and I stayed here with our 4 children over Easter weekend. We wanted to just get away and reconnect with ourselves, each other, and nature. We were able to do that. Sam and Nora have a little piece of heaven that they choose to share with others. We had originally intended to take a float trip, but had so much fun exploring the land around the cottage that the float trip never happened. Maybe next time we will stay longer and check out some of the other things in the area. Or maybe we will just do like we did this time and enjoy being away from it all. The kids were amazed by all of the animals they got to see. There were lizards everywhere! There is a huge creek on the property, goats right across the road, and trails through wooded areas all around. The cottage was beautiful inside and out. Sam and Nora thought of everything. We had everything we needed, even a high chair for the baby. It was a great place for a family vacation and would be a great place for a group of people who wanted to go floating without camping. Thank you Sam and Nora for sharing with us, and Sam for coming down Sunday night to eat with us. We had a wonderful time. . . we'll be seeing you again, soon I hope!Did you find this review helpful? This was our second year staying at this home and we had a great time again! The house was immaculate when we arrived and everything looked great. We enjoyed hiking around the property, feeding the goats, floating on the river, sitting by the fire, grilling, and sleeping in a nice house. The owners are very friendly and accommodating. We really like how this house is a short distance from the St. Louis area, is affordable, and is only a short drive away from the canoe rental place. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to have a fun and relaxing weekend.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

I booked the cabin for a friends weekend away. The cabin was more than I expected. It was very clean, had everything we needed to cook, great location in the country and was very comfortable. We had enough room for 7 adults and we were all pleased with our stay. The location is close to hiking and the river for float trips, which we took advantage of. The ease of check-in/check-out was great as well. Sam stopped by to make sure everything was good and we appreciated that.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed here for a weekend in June 2010 and had a blast! There were 8 adults total so each couple was able to have their our own bedroom. The owners are very helpful and professional. The home was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed sitting around the fire in the yard, feeding the goats, and hanging out in the house. The canoe rental place is just a short 10 minute drive away and we had a great float trip! We look forward to returning to this home in the future!Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers.

We have stayed at Hinch creek cottages three times before and this year will be our forth we have brought our families and our friends with us on these stays and its like having all the comforts of home but not the worries an problems , we get to leave them behind . Sam an Nora or more than host they are friends. an if you stay you too will come to call them friends as well. Our main reason for coming here the first time was so that my husband could hunt for turkeys, but did not bag one the frist year or the second or the third but its such a great place an they are such good people that we keep comin back reguardless of the hunt. Our chrildren an grandchildren love it as well. I don't think you will find a more beautiful place or sweeter people any where.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
Owner response: The hunting is pretty good in this area but turkey hunting is sometimes hard work! If the weather cooperates and you put in the needed effort success can be achieved. We are expecting a very good spring turkey season this year. With the successful 2007 spring hatch, and not too much snow cover this year the woods are full of turkeys. But just being in the Missouri spring woods and seeing and listening to the forest awaken after a winters sleep is worth the stay. And being surrounded by good friends and nice accommodations just adds to the experience. See you in the spring...PS we are waiting to taste some more of that great GUMBO!!!

I stayed here at the end of last December with a friend and I had the most wonderful time of my life. We went for walks and enjoyed movies and the rooms were all very nice. I hope to come back this year really soon. I never met Sam but Nora was as sweet as can be and I'm not just saying this because we share the same first name... She is a real doll. Thank you both so much for offering such beauty and tranquility. Again, I has the most memorable time of my life at your cottage... I'm just sad I forgot my walking stick. Sincerely, NoraRecommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
