Villa Clara is a beautiful, private, self contained Provençal style holiday home. The superb two level villa combines traditional Provençale living with modern comforts, conveniences and amenities, giving you the best of both worlds.
Located in the charming medieval village of St Jeannet, Villa Clara is only two minute's walk from the Village's butcher, grocer, French bakeries, and six restaurants and bars. Upon arrival you will be greeted by our friendly French managers Benoit & Corinne. They are fluent in both French and English and they live in the village. If you need any advice or assistance Benoit & Corinne are always on hand to help. Villa Clara offers excellent privacy and security. The villa is situated behind two locked gates. There is also a security alarm, monitored 24 hours a day.
It is ideal for a family holiday, or as place to be enjoyed with friends. The villa and stand-alone studio can comfortably accommodate a group of eight people. You can simply relax at Villa Clara, and explore Provence and the Côte d’Azur. Italy too is within easy reach – the Italian border is only a one-hour drive away. Travel along the coast to explore the bustle of Cannes, historic Antibes or take a short trip along the Riviera to Monaco. If you wish to travel further, Nice Airport is just 16 Kilometres away.
Enjoy wonderful Mediterranean views; dine on the terrace with our simple to use wood-fired pizza oven; swim in our private pool. The location gives you all the busy Cote D'Azur has to offer combined with the get-away-from-it-all retreat that Provence is famous for. From Villa Clara you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the Mediterranean, the hilltop village of St Paul de Vence and the marvellous surrounding countryside of Provence.
Villa Clara is all about long summer days, great food, beautiful wine and pure enjoyment. It’s about experiencing l’essence de Provençale. We have furnished the Villa with everything to make you feel at home while you are transported into a different and beautiful world.
* The Lounge * The large lounge is beautifully decorated in Provençale style, and features exposed oak beams. Comfortable sofas, chairs and great ambience create the perfect place to relax in front of the large fireplace. For entertainment there is a television which receives English, Italian, French and German cable channels. There is also a DVD recorder/Video recorder, along with plenty of books and family games.
* The Kitchen * If you love to cook, you’ll love Villa Clara’s kitchen. It has everything you need. Along with all the utensils, there are gas hobs and an electric oven, a microwave oven, large refrigerator/freezer, espresso machine, toaster, electric jug/kettle and a dishwasher. In the centre is an eight-seat Provençale table. The kitchen is supplied with crockery, glasses and cups (along with plenty of wineglasses, of course) for eight people. Indoor and outdoor table linen is also provided.
* The Master Bedroom * The grand Master Bedroom is on the main level. It has a king-sized bed, lots of storage and wardrobe space, television, dressing table, and bedside cabinets. It also has an en-suite bathroom complete with large bath, separate shower, toilet, hand basin and vanity with storage space.
* The Garden Bedroom * This lovely bedroom has French doors which open on to Villa Clara’s beautiful garden. The Garden Bedroom has two single beds that can be joined to make a queen bed, as well as a television and wardrobe. It shares a bathroom with the Children’s Bedroom that boasts a bidet and a shower with a small, but deep, bath.
* The Children’s Bedroom * This cozy bedroom has 2 single bunk beds. The Children's Bedroom is the perfect size to comfortably sleep two children or one adult.
* The Office * Although Villa Clara is designed for relaxation, it’s good to know that, if you really need to catch up on work, you can.A laptop, printer,scanner and photocopier are avaiable, as well as wireless high speed unlimited internet if you travel with a laptop.
* The Laundry * Villa Clara’s laundry is equipped with a washing machine and a drier. Laundry tablets, for one wash a day, are provided. The laundry also has lots of storage space – ideal for storing your suitcases.
* The Studio * Villa Clara has a delightful studio on its grounds. This is a self contained building situated just ten metres from the main Villa. Inside is a kitchenette with two electric cooking hobs, an electric jug/kettle and a fridge. The cottage has its own separate shower and toilet too, along with a small television set. If no-one in your party is using the cottage, why not simply enjoy it as a fantastic summer house – a great place to take it easy on those long, hot Mediterranean summer days.
* The Pool * Villa Clara is just fifteen kilometres from the coast, but you needn’t go that far for a swim. The private garden pool is nine meters long and 4.5 meters wide, sloping from a depth of 0.9 meters down to 1.8 meters at deep end. During the summer it is serviced every week to ensure excellent water quality. You can make full use of the outdoor furniture and sun umbrellas and, of course, beach towels are supplied free. The electronic pool alarm will ensure that the pool is safe as well as refreshing and enjoyable.
25% deposit is required when booking. This is non-refundable and is to be paid into the owner's French bank account.
The balance is required 60 days prior to your arrival at Villa Clara.
To pay by Credit Card a 5% surcharge will be added to the rental price. Visa & Mastercard are accepted. Please email the owner.
A 'Security/Damage Deposit' of 700 € must also be paid in cash on arrival. This is refundable and will be returned in full if there is no damage to the house.
The renter is required to have a travel insurance policy with public liability cover for each person.

Dear Anna and Bryan Pat and I had an absolutely wonderful, relaxing week in your beautiful St Jeannet home. The week went by so fast it seemed like we were just beginning to settle in when it was time to start packing for our return to Chicago Illinois. You are to be applauded for your generosity and for your support of the Chicago Bear Gala and Cancer research. But for your donation, Pat and I would never have been able to know how spectacular the Villa Clara truly is. I will never forget how wonderful you were in accommodating our schedule and switching the Villa Clara instead of Chez Claude Apartment. It is with a heavy heart that we must leave this beautiful villa.Our family will have some amazing memories from our vacation in St Jeannet. Although we made numerous day trips to the Riviera, our precious memories will be hiking the Baou with Benoit and immersing ourselves in the French culture. Today unfortunately we must leave this lovely home. We will however take with us beautiful memories of the comforts and magnificent views that we have experienced this past week. Benoit has been extremely helpful and provided us with technical assistance when we needed it. We have taken many enjoyable side trips to various locations and enjoyed some memorable restaurant meals and art gallery excursions. We highly recommend the Maight Foundation, it is simply breathtaking. Thanks to Anna and Bryan for creating this little piece of paradise on earth. Hi Anna, I apologize for the great delay in writing you to thank you for sharing your wonderful villa with us this summer. My parents, my husband, children and I felt like we were in paradise when we were there. The views were breathtaking and the house was more than we could hoped for. And by the end of the trip, I was a pro at navigating through the village with the minivan. We frequently replay the video and put the picture on the TV to remind us of our wonderful trip. Corinne and Benoit were also so helpful and friendly and Corinne’s jams were outstanding... needless to say, the didn’t last long with us (nor did the St Jeannet wine and olive oil). Thank you also for the beautiful tray from the local potter. It is a constant reminder of our trip. Our dream too is to eventually own a house in the South of France like yours. Thank you for sharing your lovely home with us! Our family: grandparents Nancy and Herb, Parents Kim and Franck and “Les Enfants” Alex (11) and Brianna (8) thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at your lovely Villa Clara. The weather accommodated, the children became true “water rats” taking advantage of the beautiful pool; the view from the terrace was spectacular and ever changing; Kim and Franck along with Alex climbed the Baou which also afforded an awesome sight. We made several trips from St Jeannet to Vence, St Paul de Vence, Cap Ferrat, Villefranche-sur-Mer and of course Nice and Antibes. All in all, a wonderful vacation including great food and wine which our son-in-law Franck (chef at the French Embassy in Washington DC) took advantage of your well equipped kitchen and on the grill. All in all a total delight!! Tahnks you again for a wonderful vacation and many thanks to Corinne and Benoit for their assistance and delicious jams. They were very warm and welcoming. Our second visit to Villa Clara and another truly wonderful stay. Along with my sister Christine and brother in-law Malcolm we have travelled up and down the coast, wondered through the village and had some wonderful local meals. Thank you Bryan and Anna a truly magic spot. I still think I’ve had more pool swims than you and have mastered the art of diving from the edge of the pool. First trip outside the Pacific. I am worried I might fall off the edge of the earth. It has been a fantastic introduction to the Northern Hemisphere and I hope there will be more. Very impressed with our/your villa and feel I might like to run away for a few more months. What a magical settling. Villa Clara is so tranquil and nowhere can quite compare with the amazing views. The kitchen is well equipped with everything one could need for a wonderful supper “a la Francaise” admiring the sunset. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing little corner of “la Belle France” with us. It has been a superb relaxing holiday and St Jeannet a hidden gem. About the owner: Bryan and Anna Pocock are Chartered Accountants running a busy practice (Pocock Hudson Limited) in Wellington, New Zealand for the past 18 years.
Why the Owner Chose St. Jeannet:
Our dream started 15 years ago, when we would come to The South of France every year for the month of September.
We would often rent an apartment in Villefranche Sur Mer, and we commented that we could offer so much more ( a home away from home) if we purchased a property and rented it out on the short term rental market.
So in 2004 we started in earnest looking for the ideal French home away from home.
We fell in love with Villa Clara after looking at hundreds of properties over a 2 year period (yes we travelled more than just once a year…actually up to 4 trips a year!)
In December 2005 our dream became a reality, and we became the proud owners of Villa Clara.
Living in New Zealand we can really only holiday here during our long summer break in December and January, which leaves us to share with our guests the best of the Villa and the weather in our peak rental months of June, July, August, September.
Every now and again when there is a gap we run away and enjoy the sun!
