Situated on the top of Blue Mountain, an 800 acre mountain reaching up to 2,200 feet, higher than any other mountain in the vicinity, BLUE MOUNTAIN dominates a magnificent country—hills and valleys, fields and forests, rivers and ravines.
It is covered with trees, from the soaring tulip poplar and the majestic oak, to the whispering pine, the charming dogwood and the colorful redbud. Wild flowers abound—the wild anemone, first to appear in the spring, the humble bloodroot, the glamorous trillium, the precious and rare lady’s-slipper. In that enchanting setting, roam a host of wild animals, none dangerous and all interesting to watch—deer, raccoons, woodchucks and squirrels (including the flying variety), grouse, quails and wild ducks, and innumerable other birds which paint flashes of brilliant colors in the air and fill the silence of the woods with their gay and harmonious songs.
Rich in history dating back to the 1800's, Blue Mountain Oasis had Mosby Rangers hiding out on the mountain during the Civil War; escaped slaves found the mountain a place of safety before the Civil War; the battle of Cedar Creek, one of the most decisive of the Civil War, was fought in the Valley just below Blue Mountain and could be viewed from a high point on the mountain. John Marshall, the first chief justice of the USA, lived on the mountain.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2002
Born and raised in Virginia and absolutely love the Shenandoah Valley. I rent 3 units in the valley (personally own 3) and my goal is to offer the BEST vacation for my guests and make them love the valley as much as I. I'm an avid traveler and know what makes me happy from luxury resorts (all over the world) to small VRBO's and put those touches into my rentals. Down to earth, easy going, and will make sure you have what you need and get the most from your vacation. I don't sale, nag, or pester guests but give you what you want: relaxation and privacy.
Family owned and operated, not big business.
Why the Owner Chose Front Royal
I wanted an oasis with an easy drive from Northern VA and Washington DC. This house is 1 hour away. It's a modern house, lots of upgrades, on 2 acres of land (flat!!), with plenty of privacy. It's near the BEST vineyards, downtown Front Royal, and much more. Nearly all guests say, "great location" because it gives plenty of privacy but close to everything.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Privacy, plenty of space, and modern amenities (42" LCD TV, WiFi, Hot Tub, etc.). Sit on the deck in our country rockers, BBQ on the grill, or relax in the hot tub. You will love it.

Weekend Oasis has something for everyone. Star gazing in the hot tub was my favorite! I would love to come and spend a week so that I could begin to enjoy all that Jason has included in his home. Football games on the great TV's, a million great books to read, the view from the mountain is breathtaking, close proximity to wineries, Skyline Drive.....too many things to enjoy and not nearly enough time. I also love the fact that Jason is obviously a dog lover! I left my dog in Texas but she would have loved it there! Also, the booking process was the best VRBO booking I have encountered! Thank you for sharing your home Jason.

We had a relaxing three days at Blue Mountain Oasis. This was our second visit The house provides many amenities to ensure the comfort of your guests. We enjoyed bird watching from the deck and even added a species to our life lists. The high point of our stay was swimming in Deer Lake after walking on the Appalachian Trail. What a sweet, spring-fed gem! : ) Thank you! Jan & Deb Arlington, Va. & Searsmont, Maine

Our second day three of us dropped by Fox Meadow Winery and did the 'deluxe tasting." We enjoyed it and all liked the same wine. So Sunday morning we came back for "brunch" consisting of a bottle of Reisling and assorted cheese and crackers. We enjoyed their outside deck which overlooked beautiful scenery and would go back again. The house offered something for each of us - a hot tub, books, a large yard for the three year old, a great tv to watch movies on, and just a relaxing environment. My daughter and I are already thinking of just the two of us coming back for a long weekend.

We enjoyed our stay in a very tranquil setting with the feeling that you are away from it all.

I was pleased with the booking process and the rates were fair and reasonable. The house was very clean and secluded. Lots of song birds and woodpeckers. Gorgeous stand of timber on the mountain. The view from the lodge was fabulous.

On my second day there I was already planning my next stay. I was quite pleased with Blue Mountain Oasis when I came in the door. I was even more pleased when I opened a door and found the steps downstairs, walked outside and saw the decks and backyard, saw the coffee basket, etc., etc., etc. The pictures don't adequately show the house. Great location. Very central to so many things. Really appreciate the amount of detail that Jason put together so I had a comfortable feeling about what I could expect when I got there. Also appreciate the fair price and being so accomodating for my two dogs.
