Chop Chestnut Cabins are beautiful secluded, both log and cedar cabins, located in the Daniel Boone National Forest Area, in the eastern hills of Powell County in Kentucky.
This cabin is located just off of a National Scenic Byway through the beautiful valleys of the Red River Gorge and natural rock bridges. It is located only a few miles from one of Kentucky's beautiful state parks, the Natural Bridge State Park.
It is secluded from other cabins by wooded areas. They are out in the country where you can sit out on the porch and see and listen to the wild turkeys and watch the dear and many different small creatures and birds, but just a few miles from places to find entertainment and the major grocery stores and restaurants.
You can go on a short hike early in the morning or travel a short distance to the gorge for larger hiking and rock climbing.
You can enjoy a small two night or several nights vacation by contacting us by e-mail or phone call.
If you enjoy being in a quiet peaceful surrounding out in the country then I know you will enjoy visiting Chop Chestnut Cabins.
Cabin # 5---Chestnut Hilltop Hide-a-way---is also a three queen bedroom cabin. It has a beautiful wrap-a-round covered porch with several wood chairs and other tables and chairs. It has a private covered porch that opens from the French doors in the downstairs bedroom, which has a wood swing. It also has two large bedrooms upstairs divided by a walkway. It has a large garden Jacuzzi tub that is surrounded by windows. It has a full bathroom with bathtub and shower. The living room has Dish satellite and DVD player. The kitchen is fully furnished with stove with oven, large refrigerator and all dishes and cooking utensils.
It has a large secluded yard with a fire ring, charcoal grill and two large wood picnic tables.
When entering the cabin area there is a brown wood fence and on the left is a small office where cabin information, statements and information about areas of interest in our county are posted. Please always look for this information. We will update as others bring their information to share. Hope you have a great time and we strive for our return customers.
Thanks much,

Do NOT get Hunter's Rest

The quality and service received was great but do NOT rent out Hunter's Rest unless you are 4ft 5! We had to duck under the doors but not only that it was on top of a what use to be an old rest stop. Below the attic (where the cabin itself is rented) is a boys and girld bathroom that is locked and used as storage. My suggestion is that unless you want 6 or 7 bumps on your head from the tiny space and short doors like me and my boyfriend do now, spend the extra $10-$30 a night on the bigger cabins or just get a cabin closer to the gorge itself. P.S. These cabins are NOT "just minutes away from the gorge." They are twenty minutes away and are extremelyyyy difficult to find off all those back roads!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers.

The cabin was just as advertised! It was very clean. The pictures on line are just as the cabin looks inside and out. The scenery was great. Brenda was a gracious hostess. You are just far enough from another cabin. They are not on top of one another. Plenty of HOT water and towels! I will most certainly return!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.
