The house was great. We had a great time hiking trails in Montreat. After hiking the hot tub felt great. We built a fire every day in the fireplace, played ping-pong,pac-man & shot pool. Which I haven't done for years. I would recommend this property to anybody. The view was beautiful & we loved sitting in the hot tub under the stars. If you like the quiet nights & waking up to lots of birds signing this place is for you.

We were looking for a mountain cabin as a weekend getaway for our family of 5 and three guests to celebrate Larry's 50th birthday! We had a marvelous time and we highly recommend it! To help you gauge whether it is the right place for your needs: The house is immaculate and extremely well stocked. Only needed to bring groceries. I would suggest for a large group you may want to bring plastic silverware as we had to do a lot of washing of forks, etc, but didn't mind one bit. Activities: The hot tub is great!!! The pool table/ping pong table were a huge hit as was the Mrs. Pacman/Galaga arcade game. We adults played those more, I think. There are plenty of big screened TV's if you need. We had bad weather while we were there so we did not get to take advantage of the hiking trails etc, but appreciated all the more how much there was to do IN the house and the big open feel of the house so that we didn't get cabin fever. Rooms: The Master Suite is, to say the least, unique. You need to know going in that it is located in the loft, which means that there is no door and it opens up to the living room/dining room/kitchen below. There is also a jacuzzi tub in the bedroom (not the bathroom). The only problems this posed was that anyone who stayed up later than us or got up earlier than us sounded like they were in the room with us. BUT, as we had no young children, this was never really an issue for us, but if we'd had small children it might have been. But it is beautiful and the beds are fabulous! There really is so much room here and it is all very comfortable and beautiful. VERY impressive! The View: WOW! One of my favorite memories is sitting on the deck in the big rocking chairs watching the sun go down!! And then sitting in the hot tub on that same deck with that same amazing view and being in awe. The main living room has that same view as well. The yard: I didn't expect there to be so much yard, but don't think your balls won't go rolling down the hill, so if you're coming in warm weather, plan to take advantage of it but I wouldn't plan a game of baseball. We saw signs of a badminton net but not sure it's really all there. That would be great though. Too cold for us to even try. I really can't say enough how nice this house is and what a joy it was for us even with our bad weather. We had gusts of wind up to 50 mph for about 24 hours and it felt like the house should blow away but we felt safe and warm!

This was definitely home for me, my family and friends. We stayed a week and wish it had been longer. This rental has everything you’ll need for a spectacular stay in the mountains. The owners are available any time of day, but honestly we never needed anything. The town is small but it has everything you will need. The grocery store is just down the mountain along with all kinds of little shops and restaurants. The home itself is filled with a dozen things to do! There were little kids with us and they were so excited about the bunk bed room! They even found some toys in the closet, which of course made them (and us) smile. There is plenty of room to sleep and hang out. Each room is very comfortable and clean. The mattresses are comfy and all the linens were clean. Plus there’s a washer and dryer in the home, which was very handy. The master bedroom is beautiful. The kiddies loved the Jacuzzi tub! Just remember that the master bedroom is a loft and just above the living room. So you will know when everyone else in your party is awake if you’re sleeping up there. The kitchen had anything you would need to cook with. We cooked almost every night and never said “Oh they don’t have….” The game room was awesome (pool, ping-pong, Pac-man and Galactica)! The fire place is great to gather around and there was no short supply of fire wood! The outdoor fire-pit a great place for smores and spooky stories! My personal favorite thing was the view from the porch and if you get the chance, makes sure to catch the sunrise coming over the mountains. However, sitting out in the cold under the millions of stars in a nice outdoor hot tub is definitely an unforgettable memory!

My family and I had an amazing week at Highrock Haven, what an amazing property. The mountain views are incredible. The entire property is immaculate both inside and out. The cabin is very luxurious with plenty of room. Seven of us stayed at the property and there was plenty of space to spare. The ping pong/pool table and Ms Pacman/Galaga arcade games in the basement were a huge hit with the kids. The yard is surprisingly flat for being at the high elevation. We brought our two dogs with us and they had the time of their lives. There is an excellent set of hiking trails which run throughout all of the owner's properties, They take you down to the pond and run parallel with a nice little stream. The kids had a blast exploring. I can honestly say there was nothing lacking during our stay. We were welcomed with a nice bottle of wine, plenty of firewood and even satellite TV including Directv NFL Sunday Ticket. Great location, Black Mountain is a very cool little town with some great restaurants. Asheville is about a 20 minute drive and there are tons of things to do there. Other convenient attractions that we visted were Chimney Rock, Mt. Pisgah, Biltmore and Grove Park Inn. Chimney Rock has the most amazing views and although it's a tiring climb to the top it's worth it when you get there. We had family with us from West Virginia and Maryland and everyone was amazed at the beautiful scenery of the NC mountains. I would highly recommend Highrock Haven to anyone interested in a fantastic home in an incredible place.

My family relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina 3 years ago to the day that we stayed at High Rock. In the 3 years we've been in NC, we have not made a trip to the mountains. We finally decided it was time. We looked at a lot of places online, but High Rock really jumped out at us. We decided that it had everything that we wanted and we were really excited to see it. Well, all I can say is when we pulled up - wow! It was a spectacular place. We have two small children and they absolutely loved it, too. Everything was immaculate and it had all the amenities. The best part of the place (besides the Galaga/Ms.Pacman machine - I'm old school and loved that!) we thought is the hot tub that overlooks the mountains. It was an incredible view, and even better taking it in from the hot tub. High Rock is also a great launching point to go to Chimney Rock and Asheville. Needless to say, we loved it and plan on visiting again in the future. We're hoping to share the great experience with family and friends. Thanks for a great place Mike and Beverly. We needed a place to stay for a wedding we were attending at the Black Mountain Sanctuary. We were so lucky to come across Highrock Haven on the internet. We had never been to this area and found the home incredibly beautiful and luxurious. Turned out that the wedding location was only 6 miles away! We only wish we had more time than three nights, but we really enjoyed the comfort and quality of the home, the swing, the hot tub and the bear we encountered coming home from the wedding. There were 4 of us at 28, 53, 59 and 62 years of age plus two German Shepherds. We had a day to take a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway and spent some time at an orchard near Spruce Pine. We had great photo opportunities as there was some early fall color change, and Mike and Beverly could not have provided anything more. Every detail was addressed from towels, soap, firewood to a great bottle of wine. We loved the solitude and majesty of the mountains and highly recommend this home to anyone who needs to get away and relax or just have some great quality family time. I travel 100% of the time for work, and was looking for a beautiful and relaxing place to host our first family vacation in over 10 years. I was quite excited when I came across Highrock Haven while browsing the internet. The cabin is incredible - it is better than portrayed in the photos and the view is fantastic! The place was extremely clean and well-maintained. The beds and the living room were cozy and comfortable. My mother enjoyed it so much that we could hardly get her out! The hot tub facing the beautiful mountains was a favorite with the entire family. Also, making s'mores at night at the campfire site was a treat. You thought of everything - the ping pong/pool table, arcade, and tons of games made the rainy day quite fun. The location is great as well - cutest ice cream, jewelry, and pottery shops on the way to the cabin, close enough to the highway to get to nearby Asheville, various fishing spots, and hiking - yet still far enough away that you can enjoy the peace and quiet. My entire family loved every minute at Highrock Haven and we look forward to returning!

We had such a wonderful time at the Highrock Haven in Black Mountain, the cabin looked better than in the pictures that were on the internet. We had everything we could ask for, and Mike and Beverly were very helpful with anything we needed. It was a really relaxing time and we enjoyed going to the downtown of Black Mountain, and the beautiful city of Asheville that was less than half an hour away. We especially enjoyed the peace and beauty that surrounded the cabin. We will definetely go back to enjoy this amazing place again! P.S. We loved the pacman machine and pool/pingpong table, it was great!

Our children decided it was time for our first family vacation. They could not have picked a better place for us all to enjoy, from grandparents (my husband and myself), children, grandchildren and two four legged pets who had as much fun as the family. The highlight of the trip was the surprise wedding of our youngest son and his fiancee. We came from Florida, Wisconsin and Connecticut. The home and setting were absolutely gorgeous allowing something for young and old to enjoy from the game room, hot tub, swing and rocking chairs for the older folks, to the activities in the surrounding area. We had a fantastic vacation with many thanks to the Roseman family for allowing us to enjoy their beautiful home. Hopefully in the future we can once again enjoy!

For years my wife and I have invited our grown children and their families to a rental home in either the N Carolina coast or mountains. This year was no exception as 12 members of the family gathered from as far away as Florida and Pennsylvania. This was our first visit to this 'mountain cabin' and herein testify it will not be our last! The home and its location is so breath-takingly-beautiful that the next visit will be enjoyed solely by the two of us. The rental transaction was made easy and professionally months in advance. This itself is refreshing in a business world that has become enmeshed in complexities, regulations and the lack of common sense. When the kids left in the mornings to enjoy the amenities in close by Asheville or Black Mountain, the surroundings come even more into focus. A variety of songbirds becomes the background music that enhances the reading of a good book. Nature walks are the 'breaks' one takes after having read half a book in one sitting. The marvel of the universe comes into focus late at night. Those of us who are older saw the most falling stars and satellites than we had seen since our youth. Our (sole) dissappointment was that we did not encounter the provervial black bear. Oh we know they were out there as our neighbor had to police up his less-than-secure garbage which was strewn all over their property. Everything was excellent, enjoyable and well facilitated by the owner. We recommend this home and its location to anyone. Pascual & Sharon Goicoechea

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Highrock Haven and especially enjoyed the nice cool mornings and evenings which are unheard of in June back home in Florida. The accomodations were great and Mike was very helpful with all our needs. Something else that cannot be overstated was the view from the deck, truly breathtaking. We definitely recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet getaway but with all the comforts of home.

I spent five days with my grandchildren, ages 6 and 13, at this wonderful home. The home itself had all we could for - the game room kept us busy during the few rainy hours. We walked trails, experienced sunrises and sunsets, cooked wonderful meals and spent time sitting in the hot tub looking at Mt Mitchell. This home provided an environment to unwind and reunite with my grandchildren. I am truly grateful I had this time and home to share with my family.

We had a wonderful time staying in this Black Mountain Cabin. The cabin was well appointed and had something for just about everyone. We brought our three children all under 7. The family loved the open area living space, the game room, and also the hot tub. The views are impressive, having the firewood supplied made for nice evenings, and also having a gas grill gave us a chance to cookout just about every night. The property is nice in that there are trails in walking distance that may not be challenging for the avid hiker, but perfect for our family on days we wanted to stay close to the cabin. The cabin is private and up the mountain far enough that you feel like you are really getting away. It however is also a short distance to Black Mountain which is a nice littel town with lots of shops and eateries. Asheville is just about 20 minutes away and is a great place to go find entertainment or a great meal. We had no troubles at the cabin and the owner was very helpful the one time we did call him. It appears that they take very special care of the property and the cabin which made us feel very comfortable. One item we didn't realize that might need to be pointed out is that the Master Bedroom (which is super nice!!) does overlook the main living area similar to a loft. You couldn't see up into the room, but it was open. This didn't bother us at all, but couples may need to know that ahead of time. I highly recommend this cabin and my family plans to go back and stay in this cabin on any future trip to the area.

Beautiful property with gorgeous views! Plenty of room for all the family (8 adults, 3 kids, 2 babies). Pictures show it as it is and home was clean and well maintained. Owners are terrific to work with and available if we needed help. Would definately recommend to friends and family. Owners property offers plenty to do. Kids enjoyed hiking adventures to the pond and along the creek and through the woods. They also loved bubble baths in huge jacuzzi tub every night. Game room offered lots of fun and variety (pool, ping pong, and arcade). Lots of TVs for movie nights or watching your regular shows. Kitchen fairly well equipped; only complaint is availability and quality of knives and serving utensils (although I've found this to be a problem at most cabin/vacation homes I've stayed so will start bringing my own).

Traveling, as we do, from three separate states, we always try to plan our annual winter getaway at a point easily accessible to all and Mike Roseman’s Highrock Haven in Black Mountain, NC proved absolutely perfect for all kinds of reasons. It was ideally located - literally a short drive down the mountain to the charming town of Black Mountain where a variety of restaurants, galleries and shops were open even in the middle of January. We were anxious to find kid-friendly venues and activities because our children and grands were visiting and nearby Asheville and Chimney Rock provided plenty. There was absolutely no end of fun things to do with a three and a six-year old! The cabin was beautiful - well appointed in every respect. The game room was a hit with kids and grownups alike. Because of all the snow and the freezing temperatures, all spent quite a lot of time just enjoying a roaring fire in the big fireplace. One caution, as Mike himself warns, in the event of snow and ice, 4-wheel drive is a must. The unpaved road can prove tricky and it’s quite a steep climb up and down. We had a wonderful time and absolutely intend to make Highrocks Haven a tradition!

While hoping and wishing for snow, we got exactly that and then some. With one family hauled off the mountain in the morning of 12/26, we were the family being hauled up to the mountain in the afternoon. We could not have asked for a more helpful and understanding owner who not only helped us up but was kind enough to drive us to the grocery store the following day for our week's supply. Highrock Haven exceeded our expectations. Awesome Mount Mitchell views, a clean, modern and luxurious cabin and with my favorite - a sizable wood-burning fireplace which we had going 24/7. Plenty of firewood provided, wonderfully decorated with a 9-foot live tree and just a spectacular week on a gorgeous, secluded mountaintop with family and now great memories. I would highly recommend this property for family or friends looking for the perfect mountain retreat.

Our extended family is "extended" across 3 states and finding a central location for a Christmas gathering can be a challenge. Highrock Haven provided the perfect place for our family of 10 (and one dog). The house is gorgeous, room for everyone, games and televisions throughout and stunning mountain vistas from every angle. The house was even decorated for the holidays - tree and all! We could not have picked a more perfect place for our family to gather. Thank you Roseman family for such a wonderful vacation home experience!!

Wonderful cabin. Loved the loft master bedroom and the roaring fire. The beautiful Christmas tree really made it special. Plenty of room for our family (12 adults) to spread out. Everyone had an area that accommodated each of their interests. The younger adults (O.K. even the older ones) enjoyed the game room with many challenges taking place! On the morning of our departure, we woke up to 4 inches of snow and no one with a car capable of getting off the mountain. Mike came to our rescue and spent 3 hours towing 4 of the vehicles to the main road. Luckily all this towing left tracks clear enough for the last one (my husband and myself) to drive out. We offered to pay him for his trouble but he wouldn't hear of it. Their main concern was for our welfare. Will we go back? You bet!

I highly recommend this house for it's comfort, breathtaking views, and especially the customer service. Mike answered my emails in a timely manner and was available 24/7. The drive was beautiful going to Chimney Rock and Grandfather's Mtn. Linville Falls was a great place to hike. Montreat, right past Black Mtn., is a pretty community to explore. Grocery stores and gas stations were conveniently located right off of the hwy. The house was very clean and firewood was provided. It did help having an SUV for the journey up to the house, but tht only added to the adventure!

We loved our stay at Highrock Haven. it was a beautifully-appointed house high in the mountains. We had everything we needed, though the kitchen pans and knives were sub-par for a good cook. It was perfect for kids with a lot to do - the games, the bunk beds/kids room, the fire-pit for roasting marshmallows and the creek were all great fun! The views were beautiful and for the most-part it was a tranquil, serene setting. While it was a long, winding drive up the mountain, restaurants and shopping were within 15 minutes.

We will certainly return to this home many times and anxious to experience all seasons in Black Mountain. Easy drive into Asheville and surrounding areas. My children loved their treehouse room and the rest of us enjoyed the gorgeous deck and hot tub. Perfect family retreat!!

Highrock Haven is an amazing retreat for friends to gather & catch up. We all hung out for four days at this beautiful cabin with great views. The cabin was effeciently accommodating with wonderful fire place. We had a visiting "singer" who blessed us from the balcony with her voice. I know everyone on the mountain heard us all singing and having a great time. We were grateful to have our own professional cook, who prepared most of our food, including homemade ice cream. We had a wonderful time and look forward to a return visit.

This was an amazing get away for us. The home is exceptional, the pics don't really do it justice. We immediatly felt comfortable. We had a lot of family visitors in and out through the week and we were always able to accomodate everyone. Due to the layout of home, It was easy to prepare meals and stay social with your guests. Everything you could possibly need was available. I had an 8 year old in the house who was thrilled with all of his gaming options. We are usually beach people but came to Black Mountain because it was a nice point to meet up with family. We would absolutly rent this home again. The property is breathtaking! If you are more adventurous, there are several local attractions that are not far away like the Biltmore and Chimney Rock. Down town Black Mountain was really awesome too, lots of shops good restaurants and convenient to the home. We are thrilled we got to experience this.

We can say only positive Things about our stay...thanks to the Owners for such a lovely Home. My wife and I, and our dog, recently spent our anniversary at Highrock Haven and could not have been happier. The location is secluded yet you are still a short distance to the quaint town of Black Mountain. The property itself hosted enough amenities to entertain an entire family, yet was laid out perfectly enough for two. The master suite can compete with any five star hotel. The view from the deck is amazing and the property has a nice sized yard to enjoy with the dog. To top it off the owners were very personable and easy to contact. We highly recommend this property and plan on returing next fall with the rest of the family.

We took my mother to the mountains for her 70th birthday and the Highrock Haven exceeded our expectations. The home is wonderfully rustic with all the modern amenities. No detail overlooked. The Master loft was spectacular. The mountain view from the hot tube was breathtaking, It rained one day we were there but we still had a great time playing the game room and lounging in the hot tub between showers. The plasma TVs and the large movie collection kept the kids entertained as well. The house is ideally located just a few miles from the town of Black Mountain and 15 minutes to Asheville. One thing is for sure. We are spoiled and look forward to visiting again.

We spent a week at Highrock Haven, it was a very enjoyable place to stay with ammenities that everyone enjoyed. The children loved the game room as did the adults, the hot tub on the deck has a wonderfull view of surrounding mountians. The stars at night seem so much closer. We would recommend this property to anyone that wants to visit this area of North Carolina, we found that the majority of activities we did were within a 20 to 40 mile radious, making outings easy to get to and not spending a lot more time in the car. The locals were very friendly also. All in all, a great location, the owner is very amicable. This was a great experience. Thanks, we will return. Wanda C Fruit Cove Florida

Our Highrock Haven vacation lived up to all our expectations. There were 8 of us - 6 adults and 2 kids (13 and 3), and we stayed for 2 weeks in July. The lovely, large, log home accommodated us very comfortably with all the modern amenities. The exterior and interior stairs are quite steep, and our 3 yr. old took a scary tumble down the inside one leading to the game room, but he was OK, and that was the only negative experience during our stay. The mountain scenery and treetop views are terrific. We were amazed to see a black bear saunter across the side yard and off into the woods just a couple of hours after our arrival. Then a week later, we saw 2 more bears wander past the same wood piles. We also came across a little fawn and a doe as we were driving up to the house, and had fun watching the bunnies on the lawn and seeing the occasional chipmunk. The whole family enjoyed the hot tub on the deck. It was great in the evenings after spending the day exploring or shopping. Our 13 yr. old liked it when we would go to the creek down from the house so that he could use his net to hunt for salamanders and tadpoles. Several times on the cool nights, we had fun roasting marshmallows over the fire in the greatroom, and making s'mores. The house is beautifully made and appointed, inside and out, and we truly hated to leave it. It took a bit of getting used to the winding Route 9 and then the bumpy gravel road that leads you up to it, but we always felt it was well worth it once we got up there. Highrock Haven is a wonderful place to stay for a vacation in the mountains. Our family highly recommends it! We had a full house at Highrock Haven, where family from different states gathered because of a wedding we were attending in Asheville. The place was beatiful and EVERYONE enjoyed it immensely. Of course, there was some heated discussion over who would be getting the loft with the king size bed and jacuzzi! We all took turns at the ping pong table, and surprisingly, despite the exuberant activity downstairs, particularly when it was doubles teams for ping pong, the noise did not interfere with other activity going on in the main area of the house. Though there was some initial concern about having to drive from Black Mountain to Asheville for the wedding, other than the drive up/down the dirt road, this was a very easy trip and no one had any complaints. The isolation and quiet after so much weekend activity related to the wedding was very welcoming and facilitated some great conversation, coffee and drinks out on the porch, walks to the creek, and cribbage as well as other game activities. And the shopping in Black Mountain is full of unique arts and crafts, so it is easy to spend a day (and money!) on Cherry Street, which is basically at the bottom of the hill. The owners were efficient in responses to inquiries about the accomodations and the whole experience, having been our first in renting a "home away from home" was easy and pleasant. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone and at some point would love to gather the family there again at a time where we didn't have other commitments and could just enjoy the lovely accomodations and atmosphere.

We absolutely loved our vacation to Highrock Haven. Our group consisted of four adults and two dogs. The property was very secluded with spectacular mountain views. The home itself was beautiful inside and out. The interior was warm and modern yet maintained the rustic charm you expect with log home living. The hot tub was very clean and well maintained as was the entire property. I would definately go back to this property. Great nature hikes through wooded trails.

We rented the house for Thanksgiving week, and our family joined us there. It was an intergenerational group with my parents, our children and grandchildren. The home is exactly like described and it was a perfect retreat for the week. Thank goodness they provided stacks of firewood - it was quite cold while we were there! It's an easy drive into Asheville for sightseeing or shopping. We're already thinking of renting it again in the summer to enjoy the wraparound porches and hot tub!

Our weeklong stay at this property had a something for everyone. My father-in-law enjoyed the quiet. My husband and brother-in-law enjoyed the scenic motorcycle rides. The girls enjoyed cooking in a fully-equipped kitchen. My toddler son enjoyed the children's bedroom. My infant son had a lot of space to crawl and roam. My only comment for families with babies - bring a baby bathtub, baby gates, and a portable crib. The stairs in the house are fairly steep and need to be gated off. Strollers and wagons are hard to use on the property because of its slope and large amounts of gravel. But the property is great for toddlers who love to run and explore! The Property owners do a great job of being there for their guests. We arrived a bit early and were graciously welcomed. The house was clean. The washer and dryer were a must for our family with kids who get messy. Local towns of Black Mountain and Hendersonville were fun to walk through and shop. Very family-friendly. Downtown Asheville proper struck me as being a bit too offbeat for our family. Chimney Rock Park requires several hours to explore beyond the rock. Not a good idea for families with infants. For motorcycle enthusiasts - there are plenty of great rides. Just watch the weather as you head up into the mountains. All in all, we are glad that we chose this property. We like to stay in places that are relaxing and good for families. This fit the bill.

Highrock Haven was everything our family expected. The cabin home was very clean and well layed out. Most outdoors people would welcome this site. A little more flat land might be advantageous if you like outdoor games, as our family did. A handicaped person might want to look at other sites, if stairs were a problem. This beautiful cabin has 3 levels. The view was great and everything as advertised! The location was close to stores and restaurants, yet in the wilderness. We would recommend this home site!

The ultimate in vacations. Since my family is scattered from California to Pennsylvania to Florida, this was a perfect geographical choice. My main concern was that my grandchildren, age nine and eleven would be "bored!" They were most impressed from the hot tub to the Pacman game and so much more. There is so much to do in the area, Biltmore Estate which we rode bicycles along the farm trails and enjoyed very much. We went to the Piscah National Forest and tried rock climbing as well as white water rafting within driving distance for a unique days outing. The shops in Black Moutain were very charming as well as the southern charm of merchants. I could have spent a whole day perusing the book collection at Jean & Carl Franklin's Cherry Street bookstore. We found a quaint little vegetable stand on the way to Ashville and explored the creek and truly huge rocks behind the vegie stand. Some of our best photos came from there. The kids had to be threatened with bodily injury to tear themselves away (not really). It was refreshing to observe children enjoying God's landscape and interacting with humans instead of an electronic gadget. We gathered to celebrate my youngest child's licensure to practice psychology in the state of California. What we came away with was a renewal of spirit and the knowledge of this fact. If more families vacationed in this heaven on earth, my daughter might not be so busy in her practice. Blessings to you for sharing such a lovely piece of this earth with me and mine.Ranging in age from 58 to 9 y/o. Pamela and Family

Our mountain weekend was just perfect. We really enjoyed your lovely home and it was laid out just great for our family. It was our grand daughter's first Easter and we were able to get some great photos in the rocking chair downstairs. We enjoyed the hikes to the creek, the views, the swing – just everything. Thanks so much.

Highrock Haven provided a true winter wonderland for our two families! We enjoyed the cold weather activiities and the warm cabin entertainment. Your hospitality went above and beyond – from our trip up the mountain in your 4X4, the cabin tour, help unloading to mule riding and sharing Jake!
