    • Hi Erin, We truly enjoyed our time -- the cottage was comfortable and very clean, and the location was great...Victor enjoyed running along the lake every day... We are thinking of doing it again next year, possibly longer...would you consider some kind of discount for a 2 or 3-month stay? Thanks! Janice

    • As long time Seattlites who now live out of state, this house is great in many ways. First, the location is the best in Seattle - close to Lake, cute neighborhood shops/cafes,etc, easy access to dwntn. The house is beyond comfortable - the beds are great & the kitchen is well stocked. However, the downsides - the occupants in below apt are on a different schedule than a young family and the floor is thin!!! Really, if you are a light sleeper - this may not be the house for you. Their front door is directly beneath the master bedroom's bed and they open and shut it many times after 10pm. Also, music (even when played at normal volume) can be heard clearly from the bdrm. When we contacted the owner at past midnight, she was unsympathetic and unresponsive. We had to knock on their door in our pjs. As other reviewer mentioned, floor is VERY, VERY squeaky and LOUD when you walk anywhere. Also, our rental contract said dogs are 'welcome' as long as well behaved. The owner informed us at he end of our stay that we had to pay an additional $200, because she accidentally sent us the wrong contract and dogs are no longer allowed (even though ours did no damage or made any noise). Lastly, while there is just about everything you may need - the only mirror ladies is the medicine cabinet! Would have given more pos review if owner was more easy going. Her daughter who we booked with is very nice though.

      Homeowner Response:
I just wanted to write a response to this comment. This person stayed with us from June 26-July25. This year the 4th of July fell on a Friday. Our VRBO renters called at 11:30 at night on the fourth complaining about too much noise from the tenants below. There wasn't a party, just people talking and trying to enjoy the firework show outside. We have never had any complaints about the tenants downstairs before or after these guests! Yes, the floors are a bit squeaky, the place was built in 1926. In response to the dog, they were allowed if well behaved and friendly. We were never informed that they had a dog. There is a $15 per day pet fee (so $200 is a huge discount of what it should have been). Their dog dug many holes in the landscaped yard, left scratch marks on the cupboards and ran around the neighborhood without a leash harrassing the neighbor dog. When the neighbor told the VRBO renters to please put their dog on a leash that there was a leash law in Seattle, the VRBO renter's response was to worry about their own dog. Neighbors complained about them being rude and about their dog running around. We have never had complaints before. I am sorry that this family didn't have a positive experience. We have had wonderful people rent with us, have had return guests and more that would like to return in the future.

I wanted to email you and thank you for renting to us your beautiful home. We had a fantastic stay there, and really loved the house. It was just beautiful, the fixtures and supplies were of a nice high quality, and the views from the home are just spectacular. We brought our au pair with us; she is from France and Sweden, and this was her first view of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. She was completely charmed by the house and amazed at how beautiful and interesting Seattle is. The English Cottage was an excellent home base for our visit to Seattle -- a nice place to cook a few meals, a comfortable place to sleep, an elegant place to have visitors over. We really can't thank you enough for such a beautiful home. Anonymous

    • Thanks so much for sharing your charming place with us! We loved the close proximity to downtown, the water views and the ‘fully-stocked’ cottage. It was everything we needed and wanted for our visit to Seattle. My only wish was that we would’ve planned less, leaving more time to enjoy your place! Thanks for everything—including the pack-n-play!

    • My wife and I stayed here for a week while we were in the middle of our move to Seattle. We were amazed by how cozy it felt, and how accommodating the owners were. The interior is beautiful, and the view over Lake Washington out to the Cascades is really something else. We also were very grateful for the gas grill; we grilled up salmon from Pike Place Market and felt like locals.

Hi, Erin! I wanted to say thank you so much for everything. The cottage is just beautiful and we only wish we could have stayed longer. We loved the location, and the view, and all of the conveniences. Each time I thought of something I needed – tissue, dishwashing soap, scissors, pen, an extra blanket – I opened a drawer or cabinet and there the item was! Thank you for thinking of so many details! I would have loved to have a mirror outside of the bathroom but that is the only thing I can think of that I missed. The whole family loved your place. Thanks! Jessie

Hi Erin, I sent an email to your VRBO address, so I do hope it was received. We had a really wonderful stay at the cottage, and hope to stay again when we are visiting Seattle. Best regards and thanks again, Ann Flood

    • This cottage was perfect for us! It was in a great neighborhood with a wonderful view and had all the amenities we needed. It was also a relaxing place to come home to after a day of touring the city. We loved Seattle and after the first day of getting our bearings, had no problem getting around. Also, the owners of this home were very helpful with any directions or questions. We would love to return someday! (Be sure to check out Pike Place Market...we went there 3 times!)

    • This cottage was very nice. My only complaint (and it's a SMALL one) would be the VERY squeaky floors. It's a little warm in the hot summer, but would be ideal for a winter or fall trip! We enjoyed ourselves here and would stay again!
