Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2006
It wasn’t the first time that the sirens had beckoned. Virgil came to America in 1991 from his home town of Constansa, Romania, another beautiful destination beach and resort city on the Black Sea. He graduated from the University of Bucharest, followed by several years in management at the Port of Constansa. His parents live there still, and his beautiful daughter Andreea, also a recent graduate of the University of Bucharest, now works with a high-tech company there, so he travels home often to be with them.
Trisha’s Michigan roots did not keep her long in Cadillac after graduating high school and she has lived and traveled all over the country. Her freelance work in insurance and environmental litigation with various law firms has taken her around the world a few times, and to many of the best spots in America as well.
Why the Owner Chose Seaview
We bought the Enchanted Cottages in the fall of 2006 and still are not sure why, but Serendipity has always played a huge role in our very happy marriage of 20 years. We always knew that hospitality was something we wanted to do, untrained as we were, but we both had traveled extensively and knew what we liked and always went back to the places where the owners took the word “hospitality” seriously. Those places treated us like real people and not as a “walking check” (another Virgil-ism). So we answered the siren call of The Beach and here we are and here we hope to stay.

We just returned from two nights in the Hollyhock cottage. Our stay in the cottage was wonderful and restful. The cottage is very comfortable, spacious and had all of the amenities necessary to make our stay pleasant. The owners checked in with us to make sure we had everything that we needed, to let us know that a storm was blowing in and offered recommendations on places to dine (we had a fabulous dinner at the 42nd St Cafe). Although it was windy and rainy during our entire stay we had a terrific time staying warm and cozy in the Hollyhock cottage. Great place to unwind after the holidays.
Owner response:Thank you for your response. We are looking forward to see you soon at our place.Kite Festival,Garlic Festival and Sand Castle Festival are just a few of the summer attractions. But the main attraction is the wonderful beach.Safe travels Virgil and Trisha

My Boyfriend and I (both 21 years old and together for 5 years) stayed in the Captain's cottage from September 5th - 9th, 2011. It was so cute and cozy, and had such a great feeling to it! Everything was just as it was described on their website, not to mention it was extremely clean and very well taken care of. Virgil was eager to provide the best service possible and gave us some excellent recommendations for local dining and even told us where we could get some yummy farm fresh eggs! This was our first vacation that we were able to plan on our own and it didn't disappoint us. The entire trip was full of excitement! It was almost like entering "dreamland" with the antiquey feel of cottage and the foggy overhang over the beach during our walk on the Discovery Trail, with little sun breaks throughout. The rates were very affordable, especially considering the quality of our stay. I don't think we'll ever stay at another motel in the area again! We're already saving our pennies for another trip to the Enchanted Cottages this Fall, and hope to make the late Summer trip to Long Beach a yearly tradition. Thanks Virgil!

Our family of 4 stayed in Serendipity for 3 nights during our vacation in August. We absolutely loved it here! The beds were the best we have slept in away from home. There are 3 beds to accomodate a small family, which you don't find in many hotels. The house is fully furnished and stocked with all dishes, cooking tools, local coffee and biscotti. Virgil is a very pleasant host, making sure we were comfortable and suggesting some great places to eat. We were very sad to have to leave, but we look forward to returning very soon!

We stayed here when Virgil and Trisha first bought the place and was remodeling it. On this trip we could only stay over night (July 30,2011) but had a wonderful time. The only negative aspect was that Trisha was out of town so we did not get to see her. Virgil got us settled in and asked if we wanted to build a fire on the beach with him and another couple staying there that night. The five of us had a great time cooking hot sausages over the open fire (have Virgil give you some Garlic Lovers spice to try....GREAT STUFF)!! Fire, food, friends and laughter.....what a great night. We even went to breakfast together the next morning at a great restaurant Virgil took us to. Looking forward to maybe the 6 of us meeting again (when Trisha is back) but staying longer than one night. The room was clean and comfortable with a big kitchen, good coffee and very nice bathroom. The bathroom has a shower/tub unit and the ceiling is painted blue with fluffy clouds....makes you smile. Wonderful time....try it!

The owners were very helpful and friendly. The accomodations were comfortable, plan on setting my bedding up the same way - slept so well. The location couldn't have been better. Very cute. Looking forward to getting hollyhock seeds.

From the moment we arrived we had a wonderful experience. We stayed 2 nights, 11-13 July 2008. Virgil and Trisha met us upon our arrival, gave us a warm and wonderful welcome while they showed us the Hollycock Cottage where we stayed. They gave us coupons for local businesses as well as just chatted with us. The cottages are really very wonderful on their own, but Virgil and Trisha are the icing on the cake. On the phone when we made our booking they were helpful and friendly. In person they were open, warm and felt like we'd been friends for awhile. They gave us fantastic dinner recommenations (42nd Street Cafe was incredible, as was The Depot) and breakfast at Julie's was enough wonderful food for a horse!!! The cottage itself had everything we needed and wanted... a very comfortable bed, a living area to hang out in and a kitchen if we wanted to use it - not to mention the proximity to the beach as well as lots of other fun things to do. We went hiking at Ledbetter State Park - highly recommend it!! The Hollycock has a shower/tub combo which is our preference (the Captain's cottage has a tub only). The details were incredible. I loved the inset copper accents in the tile and the copper dragonfly sink in the bathroom, as well as the glass tile insets in the kitchen tile. This place just "felt like home" from the moment we got there. Virgil also showed us the Captain's Cottage since it was not occupied during part of our stay, and it was beautiful as well. Overall, we couldn't have asked for more! Thanks!!!

The Hollyhock is absolutely unique and warm. Trisha and Virgil have put lots of time and love into the cottage to make your stay thoroughly enjoyable. I especially loved all the treasures and antiques incorporated into each room. We had a great weekend and plan to return as soon as possible. Thanks Trisha and Virgil for letting us enjoy your wonderful cottage. See you soon....
