Location: Navona, Rome, Latium (Lazio), Italy, Europe (One Block from Piazza Navona)
Accommodations: Apartment, 2 Bedrooms + Attached Unit, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4)
Located in a 14th century Roman palazzo in the historic center of Rome, we own two adjoining, fully restored, antique-furnished 2-bdrm. apartments. The apartments can be rented separately or together. Each apartment sleeps four people.
The palazzo is one block from Piazza Navona, three blocks from Campo di Fiori market, four blocks to the Pantheon, fifteen minutes walk to the Spanish Steps or Trastevere, and twenty minutes to St. Peter's. There are numerous excellent restaurants, boutiques, antique shops, etc., as well as grocers in the area. See the New York Times articles on our apartments and the neighborhood at our website.
The apartments are centrally located, spacious (approx. 1600 sq. ft.) and both have abundant light. Each apartment has been fully restored and newly painted, and maintains antique coffered and beamed wood ceilings with gilt highlights and polished stained antique wood floors and doors, oriental rugs and Italian antique furniture. They both are fully equipped with all necessary linens, kitchen supplies and appliances (dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, telephones with answering machines, computer printers (bring your own laptop), cable TVs and stereo) and have high speed internet connections. Although there is no elevator in the building, the apartments are located on the "secondo piano" level, two floors above street level.
There is a manager living nearby who greets guests, shows them to the apartment, and is available for questions, if any. A thorough written guide to the apartment, its systems, the neighborhood and Rome generally, and useful telephone numbers and services, is provided all guests, as well.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 1996
My wife and I fell in love with Rome in 1983, when at the start of a seven-week European vacation my wife fell ill and was admitted to the womens' ward at a hospital in Rome. We knew no Italian and were petrified. However, we soon made many friends in the hospital. The warmth, generosity and love of life the Italian possessed - even in such a dismal situation as a hospital ward - were totally captivating to us and convinced us that this was our home away from home. We eventually continued our European tour, but came back to Rome continually through the years. In 1996, we decided we needed a place in Rome that we could return to several times a year. It took awhile to find a place that met our requirements: a central location, nice views and at least two bedrooms.
Why the Owner Chose Navona
We had a hard time finding a place that met our requirements: a central location, nice views and at least two bedrooms. We eventually took out an ad in a local English-language paper that led to a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment of 1,600 square feet. It was just the right size and located on a quiet street with a beautiful private terrace. It had remarkable character. A few years later, the adjoining apartment became available and we decided to purchase it also. We've enjoyed shopping for and furnishing the apartments with hand-picked antiques and luxurious furnishings.
The Unique Benefits of this Apartment
The neighborbood and apartments have immense character. The hand-coffered ceilings and original wooden floors add a sense of grandeur to the spacious, elegant rooms. The apartments are wonderfully centrally located: One block from Piazza Navona, three blocks from Campo di Fiori market and four blocks from the Pantheon. There are numerous small, friendly pubs on our street, in addition to excellent restaurants, boutiques, antique shops, and grocers.
