The house was clean and well stocked with everything that you would need for your getaway. The beach is semi-private and a short walk away. Brookings is a great town to walk around and explore. We went to the botanical gardens, azalea gardens and Loeb Park. At Loeb park we walked along the Chetco River and saw the northernmost grove of the Redwoods. We also walked out to Chetco Point and did some bird watching. We drove into California and spent time in the Redwoods. There is a movie house in Brookings with the latest shows. We definitely want to return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

What a weekend. The temps were in the 90's. This place was a perfect landing place for two couples who had no experience traveling together. The place fit our needs completely and was a great jumping off location with which to visit the majestic redwoods of Northern California. What a treat. The kitchen and amenities allowed us to stay in for meals with perfect comfort. Everything we needed was right in the house. I'd highly recommend this bungalow to anyone headed for that part of the southern Oregon coast.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The house, located at the end of a quiet, dead-end street had all the amenities needed, was clean and allowed easy access to the beach. Although I stayed in February and it rained most days, I can imagine the deck outside would be great to use in the summertime! The property is ideally located close to the California border, for sightseeing in northern California, as well as near the Oregon coast.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is the 2nd year in a row that our family has come to this home by the sea in February. The weather was perfect, the home was clean and well stocked. We played on the beach, on the lawn, and games indoors. We had a blast! I love that we can just walk down to the beach right where there is a cove protected from the wind. Each time we drove to another beach area, the kids would ask if we could just go back to "our beach" and play. Thank you, again, Ken, for a wonderful place to spend time with our children! Blessings, the Van DiestsRecommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful week in the Winchuck River house. The beds were comfy, the kitchen was well stocked and the closeness to the river and ocean beach was great. Our Lab Nellie loved the water in the stream flowing to the sea and the large yard. We didn't realize there were blackberries in abundance right under our noses until it was almost time to leave. The southern Oregon weather really showed off. Day time high temps in the high 60's to low 70's with lots of sun. It couldn't have been better for driftwod treasure hunting. We can't wait to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, pet owners.

We had 6 adults (5 women and 1 man ... poor guy) and stayed for 3 nights. Having the attached Unit for the lone husband on this trip was a godsend (had his own TV and bathroom to retreat to when tired of the female chatter and high-pitched laughter.) The beds were very comfortable, couches great for stretching out on...the best we've had in some time (we rent houses A LOT), and the dining room chairs perfect for longterm sitting. While so close to Hwy101, it was amazingly quiet and restful and such a short walk to the Winchuck and ocean. We had a GREAT TIME and will for sure being renting this place again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, sightseeing.

Just got back from having a mother daughter vacation and reserved this home for 5 nights, What a great place to stay. Very peaceful and cozy with all the amenities a person needs. This would be a great place for a family as it has a nice big clean yard and wrap around deck. House was well stocked with towels, kitchen accessories exceeded my expectations, use of washer & dryer was a plus and most importantly this home was "very, very clean" and quite. The location of the home allowed us to explore northern California for a few days and then travel north on the Oregon coast. And the best part of it all, it was a short walking distance from the house to the beach which was enjoyed every evening. I would strongly recommend this vacation rental and plan to stay here again. In addition to this being a great place to stay, Ken was great to work with,Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We've had our eye on this gem for a while and it finally worked for us to be able to stay here! We had a family reunion just yards from the house it could not have been more perfect! The house is adorable, it was stocked great, neat and tidy. We will definitely stay here again and I would recommend it to anyone ready for a perfect, peaceful vacation... steps away from the River and Ocean. Thanks Ken!!!!Did you find this review helpful? My husband and I just got back from a week stay.. Loved every minute! The house was very clean and comfortable. Had all the accommodations of being at home. Great house for a family vacation. The house was very well stocked from the kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and even had the use of a washer and dryer. The location was great!, not too far from town and not in the middle of town either, very quite, peaceful and relaxing. The short walk to the beach was easy to get to. Loved the large wrap around deck. We will recommend this house to family and friends. Looking forward to returning for another stay.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We had a blast! The place was perfect for our family of boys. I loved that we could just take a short, easy walk to the beach! We spent our days at the beach right there and then also at two others: Harris State Park and Samuel H. Broadman. We saw seals and a sea otter. We built sand castles, forts and went on long walks along the cliffs. We also went to Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park in California. Amazing! This was the perfect place to come home to after spending our days playing outdoors! Loved it!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The location was excellent. A quick stroll to the Winchuck River and Ocean where we flew kites and built forts with the drift wood. The visitors center is just a few walking minutes away and worthwhile to see. The home was clean and the owner was prompt with answers and returning our deposit. The out door deck is very relaxing and has plenty of chairs and room for people to sit. For the price it is a gem! We would rent it again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners.

I just got back from a week long stay...It was wonderful!..I can't say enough good things about the whole experience. Ken, the owner, was very good about communicating with me about questions I had. (before and after the trip) The picture is VERY accurate, it is a lovely home with every possible supply you could imagine needing. Everything worked just fine, and there were lots of dishes and towels...and the washer and dryer were great for a week long stay. The neighborhood is very quiet. and seemed quite safe...I certainly would recommend this property to friends, relatives, or anyone looking for a great Beach experience. We found tons of beautiful rocks on the beach, there is Brady Park Distillery about 15 min away. Lone Pine State Park is just a few miles north of Brookings; it's FREE and there are wonderful tidepools. My husband went out on the Trade Winds Charter fishing boat, and had a great time...and Zola's Pizza at the marina was wonderful.. All in all,.If you are looking for a 'Party House' for your boozing, rowdy friends, with loud music you should probably choose a different place,...but if you are looking for a lovely home to share with civilized family and friends..I can guarantee you, you wont be disappointed!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The home is well kept and has all the comforts you could want in a vacation home. We were a party of 4 adults, 2 kids, and the family dog. Everyone enjoyed our stay there. The home was well stocked with cooking utensils, spices and herbs, towels, paper products, etc. All the appliances worked and the beds and sofas were all comfortable. The ocean access is perfect whether you want a river or beach experience it is perfect. The rental fees were reasonable and the owner was accommodating. Everything was as he said it would be. We recommend you rent this place and please take good care of it because we plan to go there again ourselves.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

My family had a wonderful time at the vacation house, the kids loved playing outside in the yard and walking to the beach and playing in the water. The house is very nice and we had plenty of room with my family of 6. I loved how the bedrooms had their own doors to the deck, we kept our door cracked open and listened to the ocean every night! We will definitely rent this house again the next time we go to Brookings!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This bungalow is well stocked, private and close to Brookings Harbor, Redwood areas and ocean views. The bedrooms are large, two baths are warmed by heaters and provide plenty of rooom. The kitchen is a good place to cook with all the cutlery ever necessary. Our large dog was welcomed by the hosts and it is a great location for dogs on the ocean five minutes away. Whether hiking, shopping or just resting; this is a basecamp for northern California and southern Oregon coastal areas. Comfy, clean and clear ocean view!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

It didn't even matter that it rained on us our whole trip... It was the best vacation we have ever had. There was plenty room for our six person family and it was literally a home away from home! The beds are fantastic, the living room is so cozy and the kitchen is perfect if you like to cook on vacation! We went hiking through the Redwood Forest. The Oregon Redwood Trail was the best and closest to the beach house. The sign is marked on the highway so you can't miss it. The quail cross right in front of the front door and the setting all around the house is so peaceful. The walk down to the Winchuck River where it enters into the ocean is beautiful and the view is gorgeous! We had just enough things to entertain ourselves, but didn't feel the need to fill up every second. It was the first vacation that we were able to just relax part of the time. We decided to eat in for the most part because it was such a breeze and I love to cook, but we did go out to eat one night. We went to the Brookings Harbor and ate at Chetco grill and seafood and it was AWESOME! I would have sworn that we walked into our families house. The waitress was super sweet and a great server. The owner, who was cooking, came out to visit and to see who was brave enough to order shark. He was really surprised when he found out it was our teenage daughter! Great people, great service, great location and great food! We were planning our next visit on day 2 of our 4 day visit. We love it and plan to return very soon! It was like all the comforts of home with new and exciting places to see.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This house is very well kept. The location is quiet & peaceful. Perfect for relaxing, yet close enough to all that Brooking has to offer. We even made a quick trip to the Redwoods! Very well furnished, we found ourselves lacking nothing. Even had some breakfast fixins for our first morning (that we replaced, of course). Cable & wireless internet were a huge hit with our kids. And most importantly....the beach (just a short walk from the porch) was BEAUTIFUL! It felt like our own private piece of heaven. Don't forget to visit Chetco Point, or take in a round of golf at Salmon Run. This really is a great house to relax in.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Everything exceeded our expectations for this vacation. The house was clean and comfortable and had everything we could need or want. It even had an ice cream maker! Even though town was close by, we felt secluded in the quiet little dead end drive. Our kids keep asking when we get to go back. The weather was pleasant and all the town folk were friendly. We enjoyed the beach, touristy areas and pier as well as just staying home.
