Fantastic Find!

My husband were attending a wedding at the Lake Lure Inn in October, 2011. Rather than stay at the Inn for a weekend, we decided to make it a vacation and find a house to rent for the week. The White Oak Cabin looked like a good find. It was everything we hoped for and more. The cabin is beautiful, clean, roomy, has wifi and satellite tv, is full of neat little things, has a dishwasher, washer and dryer, air hockey game, table tennis, other games, and is a perfect place to leave the rest of the world behind. We spent time relaxing outside, rocking on the porch, walking the "neighborhood" and exploring the area. Lake Lure has much to see - Chimney Rock was interesting, the boat tour of the Lake was fun, the area waterfalls are great and the cabin is only an hour from Asheville and the Biltmore Estate! The owners responded to every question we had in a very timely manner - and returned our cleaning deposit in a matter of days. We had a fantastic vacation and hope to return one day. Whether you are looking for a second honeymoon, traveling with kids (young or teenaged), we highly recommend the White Oak Cabin!

Owner response:A well thought-out and helpful review. Many thanks! Jane

We stayed here in August 2011 with our son and his family and we had a great time. It's a really relaxing property and you need it after a busy day in the area. Apart from Chimney Rock and Lake Lure we found great fun at Canopy Ridge Zipline, Cedar Creek Stables and Riverside Stables. Getting further afield is a little more challenging as the roads are very twisty turny but heh, what to expect, you're in the mountains! So you can get to Asheville, Pisgah Forest and Blowing Rock, you just need to factor in a little more time. To return to the cabin, we found the facilities to be very good and as described in the details. The three floors allow plenty of opportunity for family privacy, but the main lounge / dining room held plenty of space to gather everyone around. Most of the time we self catered and found the cabin to have an excellent range of crockery, utensils and cookware, plus a big dishwasher to take care of everything when the meal was done! We were satisfied with the upkeep and cleanliness of the cabin and were delighted that the owner had carried out their intention to add a crib to the property, which suited our 18 month old grandson. In addition, the owner was very forthcoming with ideas and answers to questions asked. The cabin is well stocked with brochures for local attractions and restaurants although maybe a folder to include other local information such as shops, hospital and similar services would help. Shops weren't a problem as that had been one of our intial questions answered by the owner. We'd have no hesitation in recommending this property to friends and family on the proviso that they understand the distances issue. It's in a delightfully quiet area, don't be surprised to see deer when you arrive back late at night. Our favourite waste of time to wind down the day was butterfly spotting from thathe balcony off the back corner. Such a splendid array!

Owner response:Your kind comments and helpful suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at White Oak Cabin last weekend. It was great sleeping with the windows open, something we rarely do here in Texas. Everything from the comfy beds, to the well stocked kitchen, to the porch (which we spent most of our time) was awesome! Its so nice to find such a great place without knowing in advance what you are really going to get. Yours was a wonderful surprise.

Visited this beautiful home in August of 08 and really enjoyed it! Fishing was fun and the kids had a ball! Can't wait to visit again. Only thing that was missing was Wi-Fi access.

Owner response:Thanks! We are looking into Wi-Fi access.

What a relaxing time we've enjoyed here-a much needed change of scenery and break from the everyday stresses of life! Our 3 year old loved the lake and the mini waterfall. His only disappointment was that he couldn't catch a frog!
