Cozy "feel good" lake cabin/retreat (not a resort setting; other family cabins near)

Love this place; have been on several occasions for girlfriend getaway and once with hubby for a quiet "date" weekend, most recently August of 2011. The cabin/decks/grounds are lovely and well maintained; it's easy to see that the property owners take pride in this haven. With the towns of Sandpoint, Hayden, and Coeur d'Alene close by for all kinds of adventures/meals, we found it very satisfying to haul our own goodies in for meals and beverages, and take advantage of the kitchen, BBQ, and decks. Great place for nature walks and hanging out on the dock for some sun and fresh air as well! Would recommend to friends/family and would return again. Thanks for sharing your special cabin!

I've been going to this gem for years. It's a charming log cabin with everything you need to really get away, have fun, and relax. The large deck has the perfect combination of sun and shade, whether you're watching the hummingbirds over morning coffee or enjoying cocktails and dinner after a day of fun in the sun. The cabin interior is super cute and comfortable. I hope the remodel the owners are doing doesn't diminish the special coziness of the place. I love the sound of the old-style screen door as people go in and out! It's perfect for families, couples, or a gathering of friends.

Well let start by saying I got greeted by a neighbor yell at me and my daughter, for being on private which was fine but she wouldn't listen or help . So after I found the property the road was so over grown that I scraped both side of my truck getting down to the parking spot!!! After unloading the truck, suitcases, ect. We went to look around the place walked into the kitchen there was NO microwave that was fine I guess!! walk the rest of house it looked fine. proceded to take a look out side walk down to the dock the dock was not attached and the logs under neath where not under where they were suposed to be so any way to make a long story short the place had not been thoughly check Note nails poking out of the deck in more than 1 spot
Owner response:Our cabin has always been cared for and well maintained. The many renters who have stayed over the past 5 years have never complained. I'm not sure how to comment on tresspassers. The site also does not advertise a microwave. This couple had the nerve to ask for a $200-$300 credit after enjoying the entire week at the lake because of no microwave and log at the dock. Needless to say they are not invited back, this is a remote lake cabin.

comfortable lake retreat

The cabin is as comfortable as the photos depict. It has many personal touches in the decor that made it seem as though one was visiting a good friend in their special spot. The main pluses were the deck, the hot tub, the kayaks, and the quiet in the evenings. There is a religious camp across the water which was rather pleasant as the singing was enjoyable. We gave the property only 4 stars for the following reasons. There are several issues to consider when renting this property. The road into the cabin is narrow with no space to turn around in the parking space provided. This could present a difficult problem on a rainy day. Fortunately we had good weather during our two weeks in July. Also, if one has difficulty with steps, there are 24 down to the cabin and, of course, 24 back up to the parking space. The beach is not as depicted (summer of 2011) as the water was high, about 8 inches deep at the lake retaining wall, therefore, no sandy beach. There are also numerous weeds so swimming is not inviting off the dock but one can paddle out to the sandbar adjacent to the camp to swim. All locals seemed to enjoy the sandbar on good weather days. Directions into the cabin are confusing as one does not want to go into the neighbors property which has a sign on a tree saying 'the cabin.' It is the neighbors cabin and not the one that you are renting. If you're not traveling from a distance, take several extra pots and pans. The owner was pleasant and helpful. One could see in the care of the cabin that he truly enjoys his special lake retreat.
Owner response:Thank you for the 4 stars. In the 20 years we have owned this cabin we have never had the extreme high water which reduced our beach area and produced the weeds seen this year. The State of Idaho Parks Dept. did remidiate the weeds by chemical and hand harvesting in July. Swimming off the dock and beach has never been an issue. Look for the new pictures this next season as we are renovating the kitchen, adding new furnitue inside and out, new bedding and added a firepit in the lawn area.

Most relaxing week we've had in a very long time. The owners were so accomidating and generous especially on such short notice. Beautiful lake and trails to walk. Perfect balance of rustic and practical. Classic log cabin charm without all the fuss. LOVED IT! Cannot wait to visit again, hopefully sooner rather than later!!

We had a wonderful week at your cozy home! We loved the quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Swimming and kayaking on the lake were great. We had beautiful weather (one thunder/lightning storm that was amazing to watch!) daytimes were hot and sunny but it cooled down nicely at night. The house had everything we needed and we loved the large porch. Thank you for a very relaxing, fun week!
