Location: Santa Croce, Florence, Firenze (Florence) Province, Tuscany, Italy, Europe View Map
Accommodations: Apartment, 1 Bedroom + Loft + Den, 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-3)
Keywords: Loft apartment
This magnificent loft apartment is set on the 3rd floor in a 15th century Medici Palazzo. The loft apartment is 90sqm (about 1000sqft) with amazingly high ceiling of 5meters (about16ft) high. The ceiling is the original 15th century Florentine wood work (a cassettoni) that has all been finely and painstakingly preserved.
The apartment consists of an entrance hallway which leads you into the loft apartment with 2 huge cathedral windows that let a lot of light in. The flooring is the old Florentine terracotta, there is a small kitchenette with all the amenities necessary in a modern day kitchen. The bathroom has a shower and has all been finished with precious marble. The living area has been decorated with very unique antique Florentine furniture and some of the pieces are masterpieces of the old Florentine craftsmanship. One great example is the dining table that is made of marble inserts, a technique known as "Scagliola".
Seeing is believing how welcoming and beautiful this apartment is. The apartment is on the 3rd floor with no lift, so there are 70 steps, but it is all well worth the journey to this "Medici jewel". The location is exceptional, for you are stones throw to all the Florentine museums and important sites, shops, and bars and restaurants. The building itself is so centrally placed for it was said to have been built by one of the Medici for his French mistress.

We spent a wonderful week in this charming loft in September, 2011. All was as described though we did not have the use of a computer. We did find a cute cappuccino bar in the neighbourhood however with wifi so with our iPad, we were good to go. Though the walk up seemed daunting at first, we adjusted quickly. It was well worth the climb! Our hosts were more than helpful. They were very gracious, welcoming & generous with information as well as hospitality. We would stay there again without hesitation. Great location, very clean, comfortable apartment. Beautiful furniture it was like staying in a private home. Everything was as promised. Perfect quiet resting place for tired tourists. Close to shops and center of city. Must be able to walk up 70 steps to top floor. Most favorite of all VBRO rentals. Every time I mention going back to Italy it's the same question. Do you think the apartment in Florence is still available?

Very good location. Roomy, well furnished and very comfortable apartment. My girlfreind and I stayed in the apartment for 4 nights and highly recommend it. Yes there are steps, but you quickly get used to them and the accommodation is well worth the short climb. The owners were very accomodating. The photos are representative.

This apartment is very pretty, and feels like going back in time. Simone and Fredericka are very nice. Short walk to the heart of Florence. Stairs - lots of steps - 70+. Bed plus sofa bed. The apt is an open design, so no privacy other than the bathroom. Apt is dark because it is very deep, had dark wood, and only two widows on the front wall. Warning - do not take a car! Simone told us "no problem, and if you get a ticket it will be the same as parking". Lie. 9 months later I get two tickets. One for parking at 62 Euro and one for driving in a restricted zone at 108 Euro. The garage about 500m away is around 25 Euro per day.

This was an amazing apartment and was very roomy and comfortable. It even has a grand piano in it. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there. It was in a very centrally located area of Florence within a couple of blocks of the Duomo and the Bargello and within walking distance to just about all of the "tourist" spots. Simone and Frederika live next door and so were always available if any needs arose. It is truly a beautiful apartment and we would not hesitate to stay there again.

The apartment provided a perfect spot for us to enjoy the wonders of Florence. We have stayed in many privately-owned apartments during our trip. This definitely gets a double "thumbs-up": from its loction to being well furnished.

This is truly a fabulous apartment in an ideal location in the city. As you can see in the photos it is beautifully decorated, plenty of sunshine from the large windows, spacious, and just as wonderful as it appears. The owners are very accommodating and when we return to Florence we would love to stay at this "jewel" again.
