Location: Indian Rocks Beach, Florida Central West, Florida, USA (5 miles south of Clearwater on Barrier Island only 300' wide) View Map

Real value for the money. Enjoy the view of the Gulf and the Bay from our 2 bedroom apartment on the second floor of the carriage house. Its located 100’ back from the beach on the courtyard. Enjoy the views of the water all around you from the many windows or sit out on the balcony from the master bedroom and watch the yachts go up and down the intracoastal waterway. This is our second largest unit and since it is not right on the beach we have priced it affordably. Queen size pillow top bed and two twin beds are ideal for an enjoyable family vacation on the beach.
The D & W Sun N Fun was my Grandparents labor of love. They converted the Tampa merchant's big house and carriage house into 6 unique seaside suites and over the 40 years they owned the place they had the pleasure of watching kids return year after year until they had families of their own and continued the tradition with their kids. The beach is timeless and they enjoyed sharing their New Orleans style of hospitality until they grew old and moved to the mainland. From the many pictures you can see that they chose well. The place is located in the Narrows, historically the most beautiful spot on the 12 mile string of tropical barrier islands between Clearwater and St. Petersburg.
We are just south of Indian Rocks Beach, written up by a major newspaper for being one of the few remaining quaint beach towns, essentially unspoiled by commercialism. You can sit down with the locals and eat a plate of stone crabs or have a cup of coffee and donut at the light house Cafe. Not much has changed from the easy living that brought people here in the 1920's For the more adventurous you can rent a boat at the Holiday Inn and cruise the bay or rent a board and go kitesurfing. That's what is nice about a vacation. Do as much or as little as you please.
We are conveniently located minutes from Clearwater Beach and St. Petersburg, and close to major airports (Tampa International) and two hours from Disney World. Deep sea fishing, scuba, Hobie catamaraning, golf, tennis and putt putt golf are near by.
For places to eat, my brother's waterfront restaurant, The Pub was rated Tampa Bays best place to dock and dine. It is within easy walking distance. There the family can sit out under the dockside umbrellas and sample the local seafood and watch the boats in the channel parade by.
To the south of us is the entertainment district called Baywalk in St Pete and the jet ski and sail boat rentals in the Village at Johns Pass. The grocery shopping is just across the bridge, about a 10 minute drive.
On the simple side, enjoy watching one of our famous deep red sunsets at the end of a day in the teakwood rocking chairs under our large gazebo. Kids like to build sandcastles with the many sand toys left behind by previous guests. The sand bar is a hidden secret. Imagine wading out thinking its getting deeper and deeper only to find you are almost walking on land in low tide. There the kids can snorkel and pick up cockel shells and sand dollars before the treasures wash ashore in the morning tide. The Gulf of Mexico can get up to 90 degrees in the summer time. Indian Rocks Beach claims this is the world's safest beach.
We hold dear our childhood memories visiting our grandparents. My wife and I and our two sons live in Colorado. This was too nice a place to let go. Our manager Sherry resides on the island about 5 minutes away and can answer your questions and help you make your reservation.
This vacation why not skip the condo crowd and enjoy a family vacation in a rare and wonderful place in Old Florida?

Why the Owner Chose Indian Rocks Beach
Its been in the family since 1966. Good memories of days on the beach with our 2 boys when my grandparents owned the place. Too nice to let it go. 3rd generation owner.
The Unique Benefits at this Suite
If you love the water, you'd appreciate the unique location. If you look at a map of Tampa Bay you will see their is a string of barrier islands along the cost between Clearwater and St Pete. The resorts and the crowded beaches at at those two ends.We are right in the middle near the small seaside town of Indian Rocks Beach where the pace is relaxed and you have that true island feeling. Old Timers called this the NARROWS where the land is only wide enough for a single row of lucky homeowners. You will be staying in one of six vacation rentals my grandparents rented out. This is one of the last remaining 1925 beachfront estates. Being able to walk out your door right onto the beach is rare and wonderful.
The largest bird hospital in the world. Open air bird roosting lets you see the seagulls, pelicans, and cranes up close.
Voted best place to dock and dine in the Tampa Bay area. Nice place to dine out on the patio and watch the yachts go by. Nightly entertainment. Sunday brunch
Fresh catch brought in daily. Go early or for lunch as the line is usually out the door by dinner time. Locals know a bargain and you can come as you are. Seating is family style with long picnic tabl

Huge beachfront park. Just a place to drive out to to look around and see where Boca Ciega Bay empties out into the Gulf of Mexico. The resort city of Clearwater is across the bridge.
This is where the Coast Guard and the big yachts tie up. Fun to walk the pier and get up close to these seagoing mansions with their sleek white fiberglass hulls, port holes suggesting luxury statero

Owner's Map of Indian Rocks Beach
My wife and I reside in Golden just outside of Denver. I am a city planner and trained as an architect. She is a part time school teacher. Her dad was a home builder in Michigan that brought the family down to Sarasota for a new start. My dad was a pilot in the Air Force that got transferred to the air base in Tampa. We met in college at the University of Florida. Both of us had relatives in Denver so after we graduated we took a road trip, liked Colorado and this has been our home for 30 years. We love the beach and the sun and the water. My grandparents that owned this place were very special people. It is always a good feeling when we make that last leg of our trip down there, cross the bridge onto the island and take in the smell of salt air and sight of the Gulf of Mexico.
