Perfect location!

Our stay at the Shelter Cove condo was great for our family of 4 (kids 11 and 9). We never once regretted staying on the marina as opposed to the beach simply because there was so much to do at night. It was a short drive (about 3 minutes) to the beach (you can also take the free Dunes Buggy if you want) and we went about 4x during our week-long stay. I suggest going early, or, like us, around 2/3pm- parking at the Plametto Dunes beach is tight if you try to go any other time. Since we flew and there are no beach chairs to use, we rented them from the place in Palmetto Dunes for around $80 (4 chairs, umbrella) for the week. We also had to buy beach towels. Not a big deal, and probably doesn't matter to most, as many people who visit HHI drive there. Beach is beautiful- no rocks or seaweed and 86 degree water- so nice! At night, we frequented almost all of the restaurants in the marina- loved Bistro 17 for all meals. Scotts has nightly entertainment, as does San Miguels (always busy- go at or before 5 and you'll be good!). We also took in the entertainment at Harbourfest (you can hear everything from the condo- love it!). Since we were there for the 4th, we got to watch the extended version of the fireworks right from our balcony! Loved that we didn't have to fight the crowds below! Firework nights are really the only nights that I would suggest making any reservations for the marina restaurants- it's packed down there! Pretty quiet the other nights, though. During the day, before the beach, we went on the dolphin tour and the Crabber J and caught some crabs, my husband and son rented poles and fished from the pier at the Disney resort across the way, they also kayked along the lagoons in Palmetto Dunes (much quieter than from the marina). We visited Sea Pines and Harbourtown- cool place to walk around, shop, eat, and drink. Finally, we swam in the condo pool many times. Overall, this was a great place to stay, having almost everything you would need for your vacation. I highly recommend staying here! We had a fabulous first visit to Hilton Head and will definitely go back another time! Thank you, Ackermans!

Great Vacation Rental

We have been coming to Hilton Head for many years. We were estatic with our stay at On The Water. Byron was easy to deal with and the condo was perfect. It was in excellent condition and we especially loved the location at Shelter Cove. We typically stay on the other side of Hwy 278, but we thought we would try this for a change. WOW - we were so impressed. Having the six beach cruisers available was a great addition. The view from balcony was beautiful - it was convenient to restaurants and shopping. We will stay here again for sure.

This place is it. Look no further. The process for renting was very profession. No need to be concerned. Every email was answered promptly, all the information regarding the unit and the area easily available. The condo was beautiful, comfortable and most importantly CLEAN. The view was beautiful. Wonderful restaurants and shopes all in walking distance. one of the best things is every Tues you have a firework show right on your balconey. This is a great place to stay. Had a great time. We truly enjoyed our stay in Shelter Cove. This condo is terrific! It provides the first time (or return) visitor to Hilton Head with excellent amenities in an ideal location. There are a variety of shops and restaurants all along the harbor within walking distance (Bistro 17 and the Fish House were both very good). This second floor condo is very well- furnished, clean, comfortable and spacious. Loved the 2 accesses to the patio and the fabulous view of the harbor. Awesome patio! Great kitchen, t.v. and sound system. Access to any location in Hilton Head is easy from this central location. Communication with Byron was professional, prompt and courteous. He was always ready and willing to share his knowledge with us, sent us all kinds of information on the area as we were making our plans, and continued to offer his help via telephone once we arrived. It is easy to see why this condo gets high marks: all the extra touches demonstrate the owners' pride in their lovely home. We were very happy with our choice, would love to come back, and would recommend this rental without hesitation. We felt fortunate to have found this ideal spot. Great family vacation place

Just wanted to say "thanks" again for the use of you great condo. The kids really enjoyed the big TV, the pool and riding the bikes to the beach. The location was convenient to everything we needed and we really enjoyed watching the boat in the marina from our balcony while we cooked outside on the electric grill. The shop and galleries downstairs were a real treat. A couples of days we caught the free shuttle to the beach which was also very nice. Great Family Vacation with Outstanding Accomodations

Great vacation! Byron was a great property owner, accessible and prompt with emails and phone calls. The condo itself is clean and in great condition, and the description is accurate - staying in Shelter Cove offered numerous amenities without having to get in the car (shopping, dining, pool, harbor or boat trips). The property has an elevator to make packing and unpacking easier, as well as luggage carriers on wheels to roll up your bags to your room, and then back to the car when the vacation is over. Parking area was full every night, but area was quiet after 9:30 PM (all outside entertainers ceased playing around then) and never had any issues with disorderly neighbors or loud kids. We have a loud kid, and were grateful that other parents and families were respectful of each other's accomodations! Our condo offered a fantastic view of the Tuesday night fireworks, and due to it's location, never really was too loud from the entertainment, restaurants, or folks strolling around outside. Byron's condo offers a cool grill on the very cool patio, and the master bedroom offers private access to the patio as well as an entrance from the main living room. The kitchen offers top tier kitchen appliances, with lots of storage space. The washer and dryer were put to use pretty much every day, and worked well. The bedroom with the two full beds has a private entrance also, which is great for those early risers or late night folks. Finally, the IPOD system, as well as the fantastic wall TV, were great for those downtimes when air conditioning was a must. Easy to book, accomodating owner who obviously takes pride in his property, and central Hilton Head accomodations - great vacation with a great condo!

Condo on the Water

We recently returned from our stay at Hilton Head Island, where we stayed in this condo. It was everything we were hoping for and more! The location (Shelter Cove Harbor) was perfect, with a lovely view of the Harbor. The condo was beautiful, clean, spacious and well-furnished. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the deck in the mornings and evenings, as well as walking and biking through Shelter Cove and the surrounding areas. The atmosphere was relaxing, with something for everyone - shopping, eating, and entertainment. The owner's quick response to any questions we had was another great feature. He provided us with much information prior to our arrival, making our move-in smooth. I would most definitely stay here again, and highly recommend it.

I also would like to revise my recommendation to say that even though my family no longer has interest in staying at this particular condo, I do recommend it for anyone else.

Great Location; A Shame about The Deposit.

My wife, our son, and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Byron's condo. The rental and surrounding scenery were as beautiful as the posted pictures. We especially enjoyed the pool, the deck overlooking the harbor, the Tuesday night fireworks, the grill, and the big-screen TV. Byron was a most helpful renter and was always just an e-mail away to answer any questions that we had before our arrival. After our vacation, however, is when disappointment arrived. Deposits were promised to be returned approximately 1 week after check-out. As of this writing, 5 weeks have passed since our return, yet no deposit has been returned to me. Several e-mails have been unanswered; one was replied to on July 20, promising that the check would be mailed "tomorrow." 19 tomorrows have passed since then, yet no deposit has been returned to me. My wife and I had discussed staying 2 weeks at this location next summer. Due to the non-return of the deposit, we have decided to find another place to stay on HHI. In addition, I cannot recommend this rental to others.

Yes it was! We've rented condos in Shelter Cove on five or six previous ocassions and this one is the best! A great location with balcony views of the yachts in the harbor and the people strolling through shops and restaurants of Shelter Cove. A great place to have a glass of wine at night, or your morning coffee. The condo was beautiful, clean and well maintained. The furniture was confortable and the tv was awesome. The use of the bikes was just another "perk" that made the week even nicer. Bryon was very responsive and timely on answering every question. He also put together a great loose-leaf book with all kinds of information for the renters review. Just another sign of owner pride. We only wished that the condo was pet friendly so that we could consider renting for two weeks in the summer or for longer periods in the winter. We certainly plan on renting this condo again!

The condo was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. We have vacationed in other areas of the southeast and without a doubt this was our best experience. The accommodations were great and the view of Shelter Cove harbor from the condo was breathtaking and provided us with an opportunity to relax and take in the beautiful sunset. The condo was centrally located on Hilton Head Island allowing for easy access to shops, restaurants and the beach. We thoroughly enjoyed the biking trails and the fact that the owner provided bicycles for our enjoyment. We hope to have the opportunity to return some day. My husband and I agree with everyone's comments! We made last minute arrangements with Byron, and he was responsive and easy to work with. The condo was beyond our best expectations. It was clean, very attractive and super comfortable. One of our favorite pasttimes was sitting on the balcony watching the boats in the marina and listening to the music in the early evening. Since it was early fall, the weather wasn't grand; however, we were so comfortable that we never minded. We have always stayed in Sea Pines, but this experience has made us converts. The condo's location is convenient but very quiet with plenty of areas to walk and bike. We would definitely return to this condo and recommend you do the same!

Since our retirement in 2007, we have rented at least ten different condos throughout the country. Some were very satisfactory and a few were dissappointments--not an acccurate representation of the condo and/or surrounding area. HOWEVER, this property was by far the "Best All Around" rental experience we'd had! The communication process with Byron, the comfortable, nicely furnished condo, and all of Shelter Cove Harbour provided us a fantastic week with our two grandchildren. Byron will be the first contact we make as we plan for future trips to Hilton Head!!

My family and I spent a wonderful week at this condominium over the July 4th holiday. It was a wonderful experience. The unit is equipped with only top of the line appliances and electronic equipment. It was like a home away from home and had many features you would not expect to see in a rental property. The outside patio/deck is wonderful to enjoy coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening overlooking the marina, and the shops and resturants are just downstairs. You also have a front row seat to the Tuesday fireworks (and 4th of July) right from your private deck. The complex is centrally located to all. I would certainly recommend this for your stay.

We had an exceptional experience at Byron's Villa. It was so good that my parent's are relocating to HHI. The patio overlooking the Harbour is so idyllic you'll love the views! What a lovely condo, equipped with everything you need, and more. The harbor view is magnificent. It is very hard to believe this is a rental unit. The upkeep is way above standards. We have been to HH many times, use to stay in Harbor Town, then Pal Dunes. Thought we would try Shelter Cove this time. We really enjoyed the condo and the area. Enjoyed walking along the harbor/shops and watching the boats. Loved Shannon Tanner! And also the other entertainers. Great view from the villa deck! The large TV set-up in the villa...very nice! The kitchen is well equipped (and clean),for cooking meals after a trip to "Fresh Market". Owners were great to work with, provided lots of area info. Will stay again, Thanks Byron and Tracey!

My husband and I have been to Hilton Head many, many times. As far as comfort, location, convenience and romantic views, this condo is one of the best we've ever had. We enjoyed the Condo very much. The Shelter Cove Marina was great as were the restaurants, entertainment and sightseeing. We used the Apple TV to listen to our ipod music and displayed the pictures we took each day on the big screen from our laptop. Also thanks for the great restaurant guide.

When going on vacation you want an upgraded experience with as much convenience as possible. This rental and the conveniences it provides delivers! The two-bedroom condo has a prime location overlooking the luxury yacht harbor of Shelter Cove. It has a very large balcony that allows you to overlook the fine restaurants and shops just below. Every convenience has been accounted for from bikes, to beach shuttles, to upgraded appliances and expanded Cable TV. You really can't go wrong in selecting this unit. It's a very secure (Security is always patrolling) and safe location for kids, located mid-island and you can be anywhere in no more than 5-6 minutes. I would definitely recommend it for an upgraded vacation experience that delivers terrific value.

This was our first trip to Hilton Head and we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay! The villa was fully stocked, well decorated, and the views from the balcony were wonderful. The owner's tips on kayaking, dining, etc, were very helpful, and the beach access at Palmetto Dunes, the bikes, and pool were very nice and convenient. We stayed with two teenagers and a young adult daughter and they enjoyed making smoothies and playing games on the balcony each evening. They had no complaints, and liked it here very much! So glad we rented this condo! Shelter Cove is a great location. Kayak rentals just yards away, bike rides to the beach or shops. So many great shops and restaurants within walking distance, and others just a short drive away. And like others who have commented, the balcony is a great place to relax. Since this was our first trip to Hilton Head, we were undecided whether to stay on the beach or at Shelter Cove. We chose this condo at Shelter Cove and loved it. The condo itself is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The view from the balcony is great, and we enjoyed being within walking distance of so many restaurants. We also enjoyed our beach access in Palmetto Dunes, but it was nice to come back to this lovely condo at the end of the day. The nice touches by the owners, such as the notebook with reviews of restaurants on the island, was much appreciated. This was our first time to Hilton Head and we loved it!! The condo was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. One of our favorite things to do was sit on balcony for sunset and cocktails and enjoy the light music played by local establishment. This unit was definitely one of the nicer places we have rented. View, and convience to everything 5 stars in our book. Owners very easy to work with and helpful with places and things to do in the area. Some of the fun things we enjoyed on our visit...fun tennis, kayaking (located in marina in front of unit), great food, and biking the many miles of trails throughout the island. The owners graciously offer you the use of their personal bikes so that you can explore this wonderful vacation spot. We will definitely come back and recommend to friends as well.

This visit to Hilton Head was my favorite so far! I have always stayed on the beach when visiting HH, but we decided to stay on the Water at Shelter Cove when we visited in September this year (2007). When I came upon this listing on the vrbo site I thought "this condo sounds and looks great". It was fabulous, (as described) and we had a wonderful time. The condo is beautiful, comfortable and complete with every amenity needed. The view of the harbour from the balcony is great! We did enjoy having coffee in the morning and a glass of wine in the evening, as suggested in the description. We also enjoyed watching the boats come and go each day. This is a very upscale condo and we enjoyed it thoroughly! It is a "must stay"! I do need to mention that the owners were so very helpful and accomodating in making our stay the best possible it could be. Dealing directly with them was great. They have put much time and effort into their beautiful condo, and it is something to be proud of. We were 100% pleased with our stay!

A great rental with everything newly remodeled. IMO, rarely do owners rent this high quality of condo unit out to people. Nice view of harbour and convenient to restaurants and shopping down below. Super huge HD TV good for relaxing after a day on the beach. I would definitely recommend this rental to friends and family. Transactions with owner and communication with owner were excellent. We stayed with 3 adults and two kids (6 and 18 mos.) with no issues at all.

We were very pleased with the condo. Everything was newly updated and decorated very nicely. It was very peaceful and relaxing to sit on the porch overlooking the boats on the harbor. Beautiful sunsets!! We also enjoyed being able to walk to resturants and shopping. Your condo will be our top choice of places to stay when we visit Hilton Head.
