  Our stay at "Laughin' Place" was a relaxing respite from everyday life. Pawley's Island is a beautiful, quiet oceanside community. Our accommodations were nice. There are beautiful views of oceanside and creekside. This was an upstairs apartment in a beautiful oceanfront house. This apartment is great for a couple or a couple with two children. The apartment has a large garden tub, but no shower. I had a little difficulty getting into the tub because I'm short; but it is deep and large enough for two which would be good for a romantic getaway. There is a nice restaurant, Frank's, on Rt. 17 just up from the South Causeway. The food is excellent. Brookgreen Gardens is just up the road on Rt. 17. Myrtle Beach is about 15 miles north of Pawley's Island. Georgetown is just south on Rt. 17. This is a nice historic town. The owners of the property are very nice, and they own the beautiful historic Hopsewee Plantation near Georgetown, and there are daily tours. Charleston is about 1-1/2 hrs. south.

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers.

  Bathrooms not clean upon check in- LOTS of mold and old mildew around handles in shower,floor had hair on it. No hot H2o for outside shower-cold only.Sheets stained in upstairs apt. What was really bad in upstairs apt NO shades anywhere so it was VERY hot with sun streaming in. Previous people had place green garbage bags on windows to keep sun out with thumb tacks. Washer was broke on arrival Sat.& owner had to be called X2 and finally on Thurs. new washer arrived.Empty popcorn bags found under beds. No grill available. Owner waited to the very last to mail deposit back after she was called and asked for it to be sent. I would not recommend this rental for the price that is charged!

  Owner response: Our check-in procedure includes the language “Upon arrival please notify us immediately if anything is out of order. Cleaning problems can be quickly remedied. Silence denotes acceptance.” This renter came in early, while the housekeeper was still there. Our housekeeper attempted to accommodate, but this renter cursed her out and my housekeeper finished the best she could under the circumstances and left. The renter did not complain to me about the cleaning. I am ordering shades for the upstairs. When we use our upstairs apartment, love the openness of the space, and use the awning on the porch to reduce the heat from the afternoon sun. However, blinds would be more convenient. The washer on the main floor broke on Friday before this renter came in after business hours. Our handyman went Saturday morning before the renters checked in to see if he could repair it, but it required an appliance repairman. The repairman arrived on Monday, and I assumed he had fixed the washer when the repairman did not report any continued problem. The renter called on Tuesday evening after business hours to report the washer wasn’t repaired, so I called the appliance company on Wednesday morning and they delivered a new washer on Thursday. The renters were not without a washer and dryer as there is one in the upstairs apartment as well. We did not advertise a grill being available. Our policy on security deposit refunds is to process the refunds when the accommodation tax is due, the 20th of the following month. I did send this check before then in response to an email from the renter, when I got back from vacation.
