Paw Paw house description
This is a home away from home. This is no cottage but a year round home with all the comforts that implies.
Whether you would like to rent for a week , a month, a year or longer,** and you would like a secluded, relaxing hide-a-way, you've found it!
With a small vineyard on one side and a neighbor on the other side who is rarely there, you have a great deal of privacy. There are no homes to the road side of the house. Just a beautiful wisteria vine growing on a split rail fence and trees as far as you can see and beyond those trees is a cherry orchard.
When guests open the front door for the first time and see the panorama of the lake set before them their immediate reaction is, 'What a view!'.
Located in the heart of the country you have the best of all worlds. Just 25 minutes away, Kalamazoo beckons with bike and hiking trails, fine dining, a world class museum, and many shopping opportunities.
In the summer the fishing is great and swimming is relaxing. In the fall the trees across the lake are resplendent in glowing colors. In the winter there is ice fishing and on frosty days the snow sparkles and glistens. The snow mobile trails are not far away.
Something for each season...
Closer to home, Paw Paw is about 15 minutes away. It offers a movie theater (very low cost), shopping, antiquing, fine dining, a winery, fast food places, and much more. There is also, should it be required, a very good hospital in Paw Paw.
For a very quick trip, Lawton is only 5 miles away and also, has good resturants, a grocery store, bank, a Dollar General Store, and a gas station.
If you play golf there are several courses from 5 to 15 minutes away.
If you play tennis there is a super park in Lawton and there are tennis courts right next to a nice climbing area for children. In this same park there is a shelter house and picnic benches scattered around.
There are numerous churches in Lawton and in Paw Paw, also.
If you don't feel like traveling, you may just want to relax in the large screened-in front porch and enjoy the lake view. This spacious room has a table and 4 chairs, two large, comfy wicker chairs, a table lamp, a wicker coffee table, and a chaise lounge with side table.
The kitchen/dining room is large and airy with ample work space. The kitchen is fully furnished with all the pots and pans and cooking things you need.
The roomy, comfortable living room wiath an especially large and comfy rocker/recliner and plenty of seating for friends and family. Sitting in the recliner you may watch the day go by and have a wonderful view of the lake at the same time.
Two of the bedrooms also overlook the lake and are shaded by the screen enclosed front porch.
The private master suite with private bath is cozily tucked away and has a view of the lush greenery that surrounds the house. The view from the master suite is of the country side. When you wake up in the morning and look out the windows all you will see is that lush (especially in the summer) wisteria vine, trees and, and not a house in sight.
Big Cedar Lake has been known for years to be a great fishing lake. Mny of my guests tell me that since they were children they have fished this lake. The boat ramp just a short distance away. Rental boats are available, also. The number will be furnished upon request.
So,if you're looking to relax or play, or use this as a home base as you explore the surrounding towns, this is the place to stay whether for a week end, a week, a month, or a year! **And I do welcome long term renters.
****Please note: I rent for a minimum of four nights throughout the year. ***

We stayed at this sweet house for a week over Christmas so that we could be near my son and his family for the holiday. We had a wonderful time. The house is not fancy, but it had all the things we needed for a comfortable family Christmas, complete with turkey dinner and our favorite Christmas movies.

Very quiet area. It really IS as close to the water as it looks. Caught bass and bluegill from the dock. Lots of comfortable seating, both inside and out. Stocked with everything we needed.

We had a great week at the Lake, it is an absolutely beautiful setting with great fishing, swimming for the kids and very relaxing to sit on the deck and watch the sun come up in the morning. Can't say enough about how much we enjoyed it!

We had a fantastic stay at this cottage! Such a welcoming place and the deck by the water made the house so relaxing. Friendly owners and neighbors! Quite a welcome respite from summer in the city. We would definitely visit again.

This is a lovely place to kick back and relax from the everyday pace of life. I have stayed here two times in the past 9 months and both times have found it clean, and comfortable. Truely a home away from home feeling. The owner is very nice to deal with. Great value and a great lake.

It was a great family getaway. The house is very cozy and spacious and the view off the deck is just gorgeous. There were 4 adults and 2 little kids and everyone enjoyed it. And the owner is very pleasant to deal with.

This is a lovely get away. The pristine Cedar Lake is right off of the beautiful deck. Great fishing, boating and swimming. The rooms are comfortable with excellent beds. The 1/2 bath is actually a bath with a shower. My family loved it ! It was quiet, the neighbors 2 doors down were nice and everything is nearby. We highly recommend it.

This fall I suprised my Fiance with a getaway weekend for his birthday. With so much going on with the wedding plans the owner and property manager made it so easy for me. He(we)loved the cottage. The view is perfect, the leaves falling, and watching the lake was beautiful. Even though we only lived 25 minutes away we forgot that we were so close to home. We felt very much at home in this cozy cottage. We can't wait to come back and see what its like during other Michigan seasons.

We had a great time! This comfy cottage saw some close card games out on the screened porch (away from bugs!) and we caught some fish, too. It has a large shady side and rear lawn that helped us beat the 90+ degree days in early August. I enjoyed wading in the front, catching bass! Yes!

Why the Owner Chose Paw Paw:
This was my mother's home. She loved the beautiful setting.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love walking the quiet country roads nodding to the horses and seeing an occasional ground hog. The open farm fields and lush vegetation is a welcome view for us city dwellers. We can also see a wide variety of birds, muskrats, an occasional Blue Heron, and a family of swan as they glide past the deck where we sit relaxing. If we keep the bird bath full of water the birds keep us entertained with their bathing antics! That in itself is a stress reliever. This is a quiet residental lake and not a resort. It is truly a home away from home. Yes, on the week ends at times you will have the jet skis but as the evening comes the silence falls. Sitting out on the deck and looking up into the black sky filled with stars and the beautiful moon, I find tranquility and peace.
