  We had a wonderful week-rainy but warm the first few days but bright sunny 85F the last three days. Two friends from S.C. joined us and our daughter from MA. We are from Northern NY (Massena) near the Canadian border. The house is beautiful, very clean! The pool & hot tub were terrific. We loved walking on the beach and hearing the surf at night and in the morning. Our daughter went on the horse safari and loved it! We will definitely be back again.

  This is our third year at Avalon and it just keeps getting better. All the new changes for this year were wonderful. We all enjoyed the pool & surround & hot tub & ll the new outdoor furniture. We had 7 glorious days and really don't want to go home. Hope we can make it 4 years next year.

  What a wonderful destination following our first road trip with our two young boys, Ben (3) and Matthew (7 months). We had so much fun teaching our boys to swim in the pool, playing in the waves on the beach, feasting on fresh seafood, walking along the boardwalk at sunset with drippy ice cream cones, enjoying decadent gourmet chocolate donuts at Duck Donuts. Best of all was enjoying precious time together as a family with my man, with the sound of the waves in the background. Thank you for a memorable week at the beach!

  We are two families from East Windsor, NJ. It was our first visit to OBX but I know it will not be our last! We are already looking forward to our next visit here to Avalon. The house is in a perfect location and we enjoyed everything it had to offer-the pool, the hot tub and most of all the quick access to the beach. We even enjoyed the wild life guests that would visit-the fox and the family of deer that greeted us on the path. We enjoyed the town of Duck and especially enjoyed riding our bikes into town. It was the perfect week of laughter, relaxation and special memories. Looking forward to making more...

  We're a family from NY & NJ. We had a great time in the Outer Banks, The house is beautiful. We really enjoyed having the beach in our own backyard! Overall it was a great vacation!

  We look forward to coming back to this house each year to celebrate July 4th with immediate and extended family (23 in all) in two houses. This is our 10th year-we love the house and the views. We appreciate the decor changes and porch furniture as well as new cushions on pool chairs/chaise lounges. We continued our traditions with card games, lobster/shrimp/clam feast and lots of relaxing at the beach and pool. Thank you for providing this idyllic home to create another year of amazing memories! We will be back next year-358 days!

  "It was our first trip to the Outer Banks and on the first day Tropical Storm Alberto was forecasted. We were all a little disappointed by the possibility of no beach weather at such a beautiful spot but thankfully the storm blew and we had a whole week of gorgeous weather. We love the pool and the beach and the house was spacious and lovely. We enjoyed morning walks into Duck an visited Duck Donuts. We loved the boardwalk and the bike paths. We laughed, played games and relaxed. It was the perfect way to celebrate the end of the college year for our kids and beginning of Summer. Thanks for the great memories.

  This place was absolutely fabulous. Our family got to go, including both sets of our parents. The pictures of this place do not do them justice. It is gorgeous. There's lots of room everywhere. The owner was so nice and great to work with, as well. I would recommend this place to anyone. We enjoyed being able to walk up to the outlets at Duck. And close to us was Hurricane Mo's which had delicious seafood :)

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with teenagers, age 55+.

  My family vacationed in this beautiful home early in the season, during March 2010. Along with myself and my husband, we had 6 young adults (from 16 to 22) and we all thoroughly enjoyed the house. The views are breathtaking (which was my idea of a vacation) and the beach was beautiful. It was cold but sunny most of the time. The only thing was I was not prepared for the kitchen not being totally stocked with cooking utensils/etc. Next time we will take some of our own kitchen stuff, lol, but we probably spend more time in the kitchen than most vacationers! The home is wonderfully decorated; not too fancy, very homey and comfortable. The master suite on the top floor is amazing and there is another master suite on the second floor equally as nice. Plenty of sleeping space and bathrooms. Hot tub was not working while we were there, but owner compensated us for that (which was totally unexpected and very considerate of him). I definitely want to return to the home next spring, but closer to warmer weather!

  Recommended for: Girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
