Welcome to Grand Haven.
It has been our choice for beach vacations since 1986. The sand and surf, the ice cream, the fountain, the ice cream, the people watching, the ice cream and the restaurants (and the ice cream -- can you tell that we have two kids?) all come together to make it a great time.
Staying right in town at a house makes it all the better. We bought The Yellow House in July 2004 from a private owner and enjoy using it ourselves as well as sharing it with rental guests. And it is guest-ready, from bedding to kitchen gear.
There is an enclosed porch beyond our purple door that enters into the living room at the front of house. The living room is five sided, the front corner being "clipped" -- it's very charming. The huge dining room is in the middle of the first floor, with a bedroom adjacent. The kitchen is also very large, with stove, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, a stocked appliance "garage" and a nook. The full bathroom is adjacent to the kitchen. There is a back hallway off of the kitchen with plenty of storage space and steps leading to the back door and the basement.
The stairway up is on the right hand side of the house as you're looking at it. There are two bedrooms upstairs -- a large "master" and another with bunk beds. There is a half bathroom upstairs, with a large storage closet.
The yard, accessible from the back hall and gates on each side of the house is fully fenced in. There is a good-sized, kid safe, low deck in back, with a picnic table and a charcoal grill. We also have a large pear tree next to the deck for shade.

Great House, Great Week! Pleasantly surprised by the roominess! The house offered plenty of room for 2 families to comfortably live together and not feel like we were invading each others space. The pictures did not do it any justice! Also, the older house offers the wonderful lath and plaster sound proofing, so we could barely hear the kids on the 2nd floor let alone any outside noise. It was a hot week we stayed at the house, so the airconditioning was a blessing and much needed. The property was well taken care of and had enough "upgrades" mixed with the "cottage" feel to make something like TV not feel missed. Also, we had 2 small kids under the age of 2, so the fenced in backyard was a bonus and helped make us feel secure that they were free to roam the yard. With being so close to town, we didn't hardly drive all week. I would recommend bringing a smaller car, since the house is in one of the older parts of town and the driveway is very narrow. Other than that everything was fantastic. We rode our bikes all over town and all the main restaurants and shopping were within walking distance no matter which way we went. Thanks for a great vacation spot!

Wow, we love the Yellow House! We had a great time, and enjoyed walking down to farmers market and stores during the day, and the Musical Fountain at night. Danger, though ... we discovered the most awesome bead store just a few blocks from the Yellow House ... it's addictive! Thanks for sharing your home, and we look forward to coming back next year.
