Kicking Horse Lodge/Granby Ranch is nestled in the secluded Fraser Valley at the heart of Grand County. The sparkling Fraser River meanders through it, the majestic peaks of Rocky Mountain National Park and Indian Peaks Wilderness encircle it, and one of the largest Elk Preserves in the Colorado inhabits it. The Ute and Arapahoe Indians were known to favor this area, and it’s easy to see why, with its rolling grasslands, forested peaks, and trout-filled waters.
Located seventy miles northwest of Denver, Colorado, via Interstate 70 west to exit 232 (Hwy 40). Located two miles from Granby, 15 miles north of Winter Park, less than 25 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park, and only 15 miles down the road from Grand Lake (Colorado’s largest natural body of water boasting 150 miles of shoreline)!
GOLFING: The Headwaters Golf Course at Granby Ranch was crafted by Michael Asmundson and boasts one of the largest practice facilities in Colorado with a double-ended driving range. The course weaves gracefully along the Fraser River and has been skillfully designed to showcase breathtaking mountain views. At an elevation of 8,100 feet, the course is a par 72 at 7,250 yards. Other golf courses in the area include Grand Elk, Grand Lake and Pole Creek courses.
SKIING: Sol Vista Basin ski area appeals to all skier levels, with 33 downhill trails and 25km of snowshoe and Nordic ski trails. A separate learn-to-ski park offers lessons for all ages and the day lodge welcomes you at the end of each sunny day. Additionally, Winter Park Resort is Colorado's longest continually operated ski resort featuring over 3,000 acres of award-winning terrain including groomers, terrain parks, bumps, steeps, trees, and most definitely deeps. Last season, Winter Park Resort received 365 inches of snow much in part to its ideal location amidst the Rocky Mountains. Free shuttle service available. |
