Stylish and hip, this new chalet is nestled in “The Kettle” of Massanutten Resort, surrounded by mountains offering privacy and serenity. Treat yourself to an escape from urban crowds and pressures, and come unwind in Virginia's Beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

Our cozy home features a main level great room with floor to ceiling windows, gourmet kitchen, spacious dining area, TV nook, and deck overlooking woods with babbling creek. The three bedrooms (linens and bath towels incl) offer the following configuration: main-level, king-bedded master and two upstairs bedrooms (1D and 2T).

A huge outdoor hot tub completes your visit. With views of the slopes, it's a perfect way to end a day of skiing and tubing!! Comfortably seats 7 adults.

Our home is very warm and inviting, with comfortable furnishings offering a classic retro mid-century modern decor. We have had a great time traveling to estate sales for authentic and whimsical pieces that continue to delight our guests. But we have not forgotten modern conveniences...free internet, cable flat screen TV, dishwasher, washer/dryer, air conditioning, DVD player, CD player, etc.

The kitchen boasts anything a chef could need. And we make it easy: house includes all the “under the kitchen sink” necessities*. Just pack your clothes and food, bring a book, and you are all set. Don't forget your bathing suit for the hot tub!

Ideally located in the resort, at the top of the mountain, less than 5 minutes from on-site resort amenities: skiing, tubing, spa, indoor waterpark (biggest on the East Coast!), terrific hiking, golf courses, horseback riding, skateboard park, fishing, mini golf, go cart track, playgrounds, Tuesday night concerts, summer festivals, etc.

*We recognize that part of a weekend getaway involves easy packing. Therefore, unlike most weekend rentals, we keep stocked for our guests: dish soap, scrubbies/sponges, brillo pads, dishwasher detergent, dish towels, paper towels, napkins, trash bags, cleaning spray, coffee filters, tin foil, saran wrap, ziplocs, canola oil, cooking spray, salt/pepper, toilet paper, disinfectant wipes, bath soap, laundry detergent, bounce sheets, and bug spray. This is in addition to linens, pillows, bath towels, and extra blankets. Your enjoyment and comfort is our number one goal!

  • Our stay at The Nut was fantastic. We had a great time hiking, biking, hanging out on the deck, and relaxing in the hot tub... all with beautiful weather! It was difficult to leave. Jo - thank you for making everything so easy and accommodating.

  • Oh my! what a beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about it. We stayed for the weekend of JMU graduation and the week following. It was not too far to travel back and forth from downtown. The highlight of the stay was coming home one night to be greeted by three deer on the front porch, munching away on the bushes. The hot tub was DIVINE! Have made reservations to go back for a couple of days next month...LOVED IT!!

  • Comment Text: We had a lovely time in your home. It provided a much needed break for my husband and I during Easter break. My daughter's in-laws joined us and it was our first trip together. It was also special in that we are going to be first-time grandparents in October. In addition, I went horseback riding for the first time as well as a golf lesson. So a very nice short but good getaway! Your home was very comfortable, quiet and we appreciated on the special notes and instructions on various things from how to operate something to the best place to eat. However, I have to say we preferred relaxing at your home and using the hot tub. The hot tub was fantastic!

  • We stayed March 11-13, 2009, with two of our grandchildren - boys ages 9 and 7. We were only 4 minutes from the ski lodge. We loved the house - and the boys especially loved the hot tub after a day at ski school. Beds were very comfortable and the house was spotless.

  • We had a wonderful visit in your lovely home! It was perfect for our two families - close to the ski lodge, snow tubing, and waterpark (all of which we enjoyed!). We went hiking in the woods behind the house down to the ski lodge, where there's a magnificent view of the ski slopes - it was really pretty. The kids loved rolling down the "hills" on the green, and when it snowed one day we found a great hill to sled down. Jo was very flexible and helpful with us - we all appreciated it greatly. We hope to come back someday for another relaxing visit!

  • This is a great cabin in a wonderful resort. Loved the windows looking out at the woods and stream. We saw deer running through the snow on Sunday morning. Very close to the ski area. All supplies in the kitchen, bath and bedrooms that we had forgotten. Fun decor. Fun place. Easy dealing with the owner.

  • The house was very clean with comfortable beds and nice furniture. The house also has a beautiful little stream that the kids loved playing by. There are two nice living areas - one for conversation and one with a tv.
