Quaint and Quiet!

Guest: Wade (Spencerport, NY )
Date of Stay: 03/11/12 Review Submitted: 04/01/12

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Savannah's Cabana! Beautiful beach, easy access, perfect for early morning walks when you're still on Eastern Standard Time. Terri and David were delightful, as well as helpful with directions, excursion tips, and restaurant recommendations. Cabana was very clean, convenient, and private. Would recommend to those wanting an experience that gets them away from hotels and highways... Mahalo Terri and David!

Our 2-week stay included relaxing tropical breezes, bird song, short walks to beautiful Kailua beach, peaceful nights and comfortable, clean accommodations. If you are looking for wild nightlife, you won't find it here. Dave and Terri made us feel completely at home, and we are sorry we had to leave.

Lovely slice of paradise

Date of Stay: 01/20/12 Review Submitted: 03/21/12

My husband and I really enjoyed our week in Savannah's Cabana at the end of January. Our trip to Hawaii provided a nice respite from the cold, gray, Oregon drizzle. It was a cozy, clean cottage in a quiet neighborhood where we could relax and just immerse ourselves in the tropical setting. I loved the lush garden and my husband enjoyed the comfortable king-sized bed. We spent much of our time just hanging out on beautiful Kailua Beach, reading or dozing or people watching. It is literally a 5-minute walk to the ocean and we left the car behind in our secure spot right outside the cottage. We would recommend this location to anyone and hope to return ourselves someday soon. Dave and Terri were very gracious and hospitable and we appreciate them sharing their slice of paradise with us. Thank you!

Perfect Stay

Guest: John and Dana (Creston, BC Canada)
Date of Stay: 11/09/11 Review Submitted: 12/02/11

This was our second trip to Kailua and after finding Savannah's it will not be our last. Dave and Terri were wonderful hosts - they truly seemed to be happy to have us there. The cabana is exquisitely decorated and has the most amazing shower we have ever seen. It is exactly as it appears in the photos with a lovely tropical garden to sit and relax with a good book and a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Kula, the wonder dog, greated us every morning with a little gift for us - one day it was a sock. The beach is about a 5 minute walk - be sure and catch the sunrise and go to the Kalapawai Market for a coffee and a breakfast burrito.

Owner response:Thanks so much John and Dana - and all the other guests below who submitted reviews . We will continue to do our best in giving you a quality experience with Aloha . David and Terri

A touch of old Hawaii

Guest: kat (oregon)
Date of Stay: 10/12/11 Review Submitted: 10/29/11

Savannah’s cabana reflects the love of its builder-owners for old Hawaii. A historic banyan tree shades one corner of the tropical plantation-like setting of this residence just a block away from the beach. The cottage furnishings are elegant, comfortable and well-kept, and Terri readily provided us with whatever we needed including extra refrigerator space and linens. Ask Dave about surfing and paddleboarding. We enjoyed our stay so much we've already booked our return. If you’re eager to try some local eats, try the Willow Tree Korean restaurant and L&L plate lunch in the shopping center at the intersection of Mokapu and Kalaheo, visit the He’eia pier just past Kaneohe town for breakfast with the fishermen, or listen to some live music (earplugs handy) and sample the island pupus at the Big Country Dinner in Waimanalo.

Cute Comfy Cottage

Date of Stay: 09/13/11 Review Submitted: 10/02/11

My husband and I enjoyed our stay in this nice cottage. We felt very safe in the neighborhood with private and secure parking. My husband had planned a dive one day, so I was able to walk to the beach with one of Terri's backpacking chairs and have a great day just hanging out at the lovely beach. Terri was kind enough to loan us an additional fan which helped cool the room at nights, as well as allowing me to use her washer and dryer before we left for the Big Island. This is a cute and comfy cottage and is exactly as it appears in the photos. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Best Trip Ever

Guest: Donna (Alameda, Ca (San Fran Bay area))
Date of Stay: 08/03/11 Review Submitted: 08/13/11

My stay started with a warm greeting my Terri and wonderdog Kula. Terri showed me around the place and gave me directions to the local markets and back to the airport (had to pick up hubby on a separate flight later that evening). The cabana is a very short walk to Kailua Beach and the boogie boards were a blast with the winds we had for the few first days. We used the snorkel equipment, chairs and cooler repeatedly at both Kailua and Lanikai Beach. Took a drive up to north shore to Waimea Valley and Falls and stopped for lunch at Fumi's Shrimp Shack on Kamehameha Hwy. Scuba diving was great with Aarons Dive Shop in Kailua-Jeff was awesome during Eddie's intro dive. Teddy's bigger burgers, Maui Taco's, Boston Bob Pizza, Island Snow, and Cinnamons had awesome eats. Try the blueberry pancakes at Cinnamons-killer! We did the 4 hour kayak trip out to the Moks with Kailua Kayak-highly recommended but be ready for a workout. We also snorkeled Huanama Bay-go early, lines get long but great snorkel and take the hike up to the lighthouse on the way back. Beautiful view from the top. The cabana is warm, inviting and comfortable and looks exactly like the photos. Terri and Dave were great with directions and advice on local spots and being in a neighborhood setting was so much nicer than a big resort hotel-we felt like locals. Our trip could not have been better and we are already making plans to return so that Eddie can get scuba certified! Thank you Cordells for your hospitality-Love, love, love the cabana. Give Kula a big hug for us :-) Go A's

Special place in our hearts...

Guest: Connie (Breese, Illinois)
Date of Stay: 05/28/11 Review Submitted: 12/18/11

I have been meaning to write this review for awhile now but time moves so much faster on the mainland than on Oahu and in Kailua. My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Dave and Terri's place. It was clean, close to the beach and peaceful. We loved how it was tucked away from the street and out of site. We woke up to rain one morning and with the trees, it sounded like we were in a rainforest...just sooo relaxing. This is a great place for siteseeing (you can easily drive short distances for wonderful views) and then come back to relax. Dave and Terry had nice tips about things to do and local places to eat, they were great. Their dog Koola (I think) was so friendly and sweet. He made me miss my dog less while I was away. He liked to sit by my feet while I read a book on the lanai. We can't wait to go back someday...(so many places, so little time). Fond memories and happy thoughts, from Kent and Connie in Breese, Illinois.

Relaxing and private place to stay

“Our stay at Savannah’s Cabana was tremendously relaxing. We enjoyed the neighborhood atmosphere, and certainly the short walk to one of Oahu’s best beaches in Kailua! The comfortable king-sized bed, complete with a large flatscreen TV enabled us to really wind down after a busy day on the island. We enjoyed being close to a major grocery store, and also being right down the street from Buzz’s Steakhouse, where we could enjoy cocktail hour on the beach before dinner. We’ll definitely be staying with Terri and Dave again.”

Great stay

Date of Stay: 04/10/11 Review Submitted: 04/16/11

After booking a place on the north shore and not being very happy with our accommodations, my husband and I decided to leave early and spent a few nights in Kailua. Savannah's cabana just happened to be available for the dates we needed so we decided to go for it. Terri was very quick in responding to our request and was extremely easy to deal with. When we arrived Dave made sure that everything was to our liking and let us know that they were there if we needed anything. The pictures of the place did not do it justice, it was much nicer in person! Everything was very clean and well taken care of. There was even a new flat screen TV that I don't believe was in the pictures. The location was great, a five minute walk to Kaliua beach and a short drive to Lanikia Beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and wish we could have stayed longer!

Owner response:Thank you so much for the positive response to your stay . We feel that all of our guests are special and have tried hard over the years to show that the Aloha spirit is alive and well here . Thank you: David and Terri

All the Comforts of Home (only with better neighbors)

Date of Stay: 03/30/11 Review Submitted: 05/04/11

We really enjoyed our stay. Dave and Terri are terrific hosts and are very informative about the island. The cottage is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood and had everything we needed for a quiet comfortable stay and was centrally located to downtown Kailua. Having access to the chair and picnic table was also a plus. We were so close the beach that we could walk over any time we wanted and never had to worry about parking. It was also nice to be in Kailua, as you are so close to other hot spots on the island, like Honolulu, North Beach, Diamond Head. Would love to make a return trip.

Owner response:Jennifer ;Thank you so much for your kind review! Aloha Terri and David

Ahh ... blissful peace and beauty

This property is amazing, especially if you desire peace and tranquility in a lovly island setting. I was greeted by the owners with the spirit of aloha. The beach toys were wonderful, but since it rained quite a bit I didn't use them much. Hearing the rain on the roof and the doves in the morning was truly Kailua One of the best features for me was the honor of meeting Kula, the most mellow black lab I have ever seen. She embodied the spirit of the entire experience as she greeted me with a toy each day and then went back to snoozing. This is a delightful place to stay for even a short visit and I hope to be back soon.

11 NIghts at Savannah's Cabana

Date of Stay: 01/24/11 Review Submitted: 02/14/11

My husband and I stayed at Savannah's Cabana for a total of eleven nights. We wanted to stay in Kailua and walking distance to the beach was important thus we were really happy with our choice to stay here. We arrived after dark and could hear the waves from the cottage! The back yard is quite secluded from the street and listening to the birds makes it magical. We used the bbq most nights and Terri even brought us a lantern and candles to use while we ate outside. We really felt at home here. The bonus is the gentle black Lab called Kula. The owners Dave and Terri really make their guests feel comfortable. They are long time residents of Kailua so their local advice is always helpful whether it be dining recommendations or information on hiking trails. The king size bed is comfortable. Beach towels and beach gear (flippers and snorkels, boogie board and cooler) are provided as well. We drove into Honolulu and Waikiki for shopping and sightseeing but always enjoyed coming back to the Kailua. We will definitely return.

It was my first time visiting Hawaii I went to visit my Marine. Me and him both had a wonderful time! Terri and Dave were wonderful and welcoming!! The house was cute, very clean and we had our privacy. I enjoyed the short walk to the beach and it was convieniently close to base. I felt so incredibly safe there and knew if I needed anything I could just ask them! I will always remember my trip and staying at Savannah Cabana, I plan on staying there again in the near future!

Delightful Cabana

Date of Stay: 08/20/10 Review Submitted: 09/05/10

We stayed at Savannah's Cabana for a week and enjoyed every second. It was clean, comfortable, attractively decorated and had all we needed to prepare meals. The beach access is at the end of the block and the beach is FANTASTIC! Beautiful sand, clear water, no seaweed. You can see the fish in the water! Our hosts were wonderful and helpful when needed. Big City Diner has great breakfasts and late night treats. This is a great location for a week or more and Khalia is an ideal spot for enjoying the water and beach, as well as the rest of Oahu. It's about 30 minutes to Honolulu if you want "city time". The museums were fascinating and well worth the trip. We would definately recommend staying here rather than in the city of Honolulu. You can get to everything, right from Savannah's Cabana!

We stayed for a week in this charming cottage. It was extremely convenient to the rest of the island without all the traffic that you would encounter staying in Honolulu or Wakiki. The beach access is at the end of the block, which only took about a 5 minute walk. The beach chairs, snorkeling gear, and cooler were a nice addition which we used quite often. The accomodations were great! It was everything we needed for a nice relaxing vacation.

Owner response:Thanks Tiffany We really appreciate your review! Aloha

This was our first rental through VRBO, and we had a wonderful week long stay at Savannah's Cabana. We would recommend this place to anyone. The Cabana was more then comfortable, and the surrounding Kailua area is a safe and filled with beautiful beaches. We enjoyed the many amenities and the spacious yard area. The owners were great to work with and we are very happy we chose this rental for our Oahu vacation.
