Good instead of EXCELLENT because it RAINED the whole 3 days... :( Def. not Carolyn's fault! We felt lucky to have found this property in a neighbourhood so close to downtown. Carolyn was courteous, prompt and professional - even though she was on vacation herself! We walked to the Pearl District & the farmer's Market; decided to skip the 45 minute line up for donuts (???). We rode our bikes around Irvington and then downtown - in the rain- and the neighbours seemed like they weren't there. We arrived a little early and she was great about allowing us to unpack and settle in. We loved the character of this old home and the sun porch gave it that extra something. We ate late (2300 hrs) just around the corner the first night & found PARK on the second night . It was a must that we include our blue heeler in our vacation plans to Sonoma and the return Oregon Coastal route to Vancouver, BC. What a pleasure to find a well cared for property that was pet friendly!

Owner response:Pleasure was mine finding such gracious guests; very fun to visit with and a responsible pet owner too. Please come again!

Experienced a wonderful Springtime in Portland.

I stayed for three nights with my dog, Sophia. I actually looked forward to taking her for walks through the beautiful tree lined streets of this Irvington neighborhood. The apartment is walking distance to restaurants and shopping. There is street parking right outside. It's a convenient location for friends and family to meet. The apartment was true to it's pictures and very comfortable. I would stay again and recommend it.

Owner response:Thanks for staying at the Tillamook Apartment and leaving it in such good condition. Please come again. Carolyn

Perfect location and apartment

We have stayed in rental units in other cities, but this was tops. It is spacious, clean, and very well stocked with kitchen equipment as well as bath and kitchen supplies. The fireplace is a real plus in the winter. It is the first place where we didn't have to bring anything. And if you don't plan any side trips, there is no need for a car, as there are stores, restaurants, a mall, and free transit into the city center a short distance away and access to outer zones for a modest fee. Highly recommended.

Owner response:Thank you for your positive review; I try to make the apartment the kind of place that I would want to stay in when I travel. It is close to everything and the neighborhood is fun and safe. Carolyn

This was the perfect home base for our Portland stay. We loved the location, a quiet neighborhood with large trees, lovely victorian homes and within walking distance to shopping, restaurants, movie theaters, grocery store, post office and MAX light rail. This place is spacious and immaculate, lots of windows to let in the light. Carolyn was wonderful to deal with, very nice and helpful. We can't imagine staying anywhere else when we visit Portland.

Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I appreciate you comments; you were a great guest and I look forward to seeing you in Portland again, Carolyn

This apartment was exactly what I was looking for as a place to stay while visiting my daughter and her family. It was clean, comfortable, and the cozy fireplace was a bonus during the chilly December weeks I was there. I loved the location which was a short distance to Lloyd Center, Safeway, and Whole Foods, but in a neighborhood that was safe and quiet with easy parking in front. The owner was flexible and accommodating with my last minute reservation. She brought me logs for the fireplace and was easily available by phone to answer questions. I would definitely recommend this apartment as an alternative to a hotel stay for visitors to Portland!

My husband and I and our small dog loved staying here in late September. There is so much character to the homes in this neighbourhood and the apartment is no exception. We agreed it felt like staying in Paris for its period charm and access to everything. The decor is beautiful and the layout very expansive. I hope to be able to stay again on our next visit to Portland.

Thanks to Carolyn for accommodating us. The apartment was a nice change from Hotels that usually aren't as welcoming and upcharge you for everything. The amenities at Tillamook made everything so convenient. We really felt like we were staying in a friends home. The attractions in Oregon are beautiful and the food is amazing. It was a trip that we will not forget.

Owner response:Thank you.

Enjoyed the location very much. Could not have been any better. Whole Foods was not far, we walked there in about 15 minutes and Safeway was a five minute walk and the mall just next to that! Lots of great little restaurants and shops all in walking distance. Spacious, light, clean. Kitchen had everything we needed when we cooked. VERY comfortable bed and nice linens. (in fact, my wife looked for a tag to try and find the brand of the coverlet!) Wireless internet was fast and never any problem. No problem with street parking at all and Carolyn was very nice to deal with and most helpful. Would stay here again.

We had an absolutely fantastic time in Portland and this was aided largely by the brilliant apartment. Spacious, clean, comfortable. The apartment had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked (not that we used it that much). The bedroom and living area were both very comfortable. Location is great, just a short walk to the MAXX, Safeway and some great restaurants - there's brilliant breakfast place not too far away that we both fell in love with! Carolyn was very helpful, even shuttling us to and from the airport. Highly recommended!

Owner response:Thank you for the review! You were great guests and I look forward to meeting you again in Portland.

My Mom and I had a wonderful stay here in May. This house is in the middle of a beautiful heritage area. We were walking distance from the local mall. We had a car, so a 5-10 min. drive brought us into downtown. I'm so glad we didn't stay over there. This was our oasis away from the city @ night. Carolyn was very nice to deal with. We would definitely stay here again.

An excellent holiday at Tillamook. The location allowed us free travel into the city via the MAXX and a convenient link direct to the airport at the end of our stay. Close to everything and plenty to see and do in Portland or just relax in the neighbourhood. We went for a walk every evening after dinner - summer was a treat in Portlnd, and the Tillamook apartment had evrything we needed. Perfect for a couple and a daughter visiting friends in Portland. Thanks Carolyn.

We stayed in this apartment for about two weeks in September 2008. It is in a lovely, historic neighborhood(yes, it's quiet -and on a bicycle route) in a truly fabulous city. We actually extended our stay we were enjoying our visit so much. The apartment is advertised very accurately(it was very welcoming and comfortable with everything we needed) and Carolyn was an extremely gracious and helpful host. We can't wait to return to Portland!

Good location, poorly appointed

Date of Stay: 09/08/08 Review Submitted: 09/23/08

The apartment is in a nice neighborhood, although there was aan inactive construction site across the street and an active one next door. The apt. is lacking a dishwasher and garbage disposal. If you want to do any laundry, you have to go into the basement of this old building to do so. The windows don't close properly and have no screens. Since there isn't any air-conditioning, this is a problem when it's hot. We found several spiders and bugs in the apartment. Dust was apparent on the mini-blinds and the bathroom cabinet. The fixtures are old and the shower curtain is plastic. We didn't sleep in the bedroom the entire visit because it was too warm and too close during our stay. The living space is nice with a sofa and flat screen, but overall, sleeping on a futon for 6 evenings left us with achey backs and certain we wouldn't return to this property. I shared this information with the owner the first evening we arrived, but she was immediately on the defensive telling me how no one else had ever complained, and didn't offer any solutions. I had asked her, almost a month in advance, if we could stay a few evenings instead of the entire week, but she declined. It's apparent the renter is trying to get a return on a minimum investment, otherwise, she should have offered a refund until her new windows arrive. At least refund the cleaning fee since the apartment was not properly prepared for us!

My family came to visit us from Sweden (two adults and two teenagers), and they were very comfortable in this apartment. They enjoyed walking each morning to see the heritage trees in the surrounding neighborhood, getting coffee and treats in the local shops, shopping at Lloyd Center, and the quick walk to the light rail and our house in Grant Park. They will definitely try to stay here when they visit again.

The owner was very responsive and helpful with info about how to get into the apt at 1am..when we arrived. Her description was accurate but didnt even include all the great stuff provided! The apt was immaculate, spacious and really beautifully furnished; she even provided toiletries, cookware, high quality linens, gourmet treats, internet access, wide screen TV, dvd player...on and on. I would definitely rent from this owner again. The side patio and furniture provided an added spot for outdoor private relaxation. It was right near a great gym I joined for one week (Loyds), a Safeway supermarket open till 1am,and a mall!!! It was a short ride to the center of Portland and to all of the other local neighborhoods. The street was safe and beautiful with plenty of parking for my rental car. My husband and I had a great stay and are very grateful for this; it was soo much better than a hotel!

Needing to have a medical procedure, I attempted to find a hotel accommodation in the area, but there were none available on such short notice. When I found the Irvington Apartment, I decided to take a chance. Wow! How fortunate! What a lovely place to stay; so conveniently located, clean, comfortable, spacious, well-appointed, airy and bright. Easy on street parking, in a lovely neighborhood, within walking distance to the mall. This was a fantastic solution for my husband and myself. Thank you!

My family was here from Chicago and had the absolute pleasure staying at the Irvington apt. Everything was very tastefully done, from the beautiful hardwood floors, wonderful comfortable bed and all the kitchen conviences and wireless acess too. Mother lives right down the street and the Lloyd center was right there to walk to. Great place!

We really enjoyed staying in the apartment. The nicely decorated apartment is serene and the kitchen is well-equipped. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet, and the location is fantastic if you want convenience for going into Portland – very possible to enjoy Portland without a car from this apartment. Can walk to the MAX and stores within 10 minutes, yet be in a beautiful, historic, quiet neighborhood. Carolyn was so welcoming in many ways. Highly recommend!

This apartment was LOVELY! When we arrived Carolyn promptly showed up to give us a little tour of the apartment, which was immaculate and very nicely decorated. It was nicer than many of the higher end hotels in Portland. It was the ideal place to stay, a nice peaceful location but within walking distance to downtown. We had a wonderful week!
