This cabin was just as described and just what we needed for a much needed break from the pressures of civilization. It is tucked away in a neighborhood on a hill outside of town that doesn't have lots of residents, so it was completely quiet and the views of town at night were nice to see. The cabin was nicely decorated and very well stocked with all of the necessities in the kitchen from pots and pans to food items, spices and seasonings. We spent most of our days out enjoying the area, so really only enjoyed the place in the evenings, which were cozy. We took a four wheel drive trail up to Rainbow lake for lunch one day, drove over a pass south of Westcliff that dropped us into the Great Sand Dunes National park and our final day we attempted to climb Mt. Humboldt. The area is very beautiful and we will definitely be back. It is also just an hour from Salida, which we drove to one afternoon to watch football and enjoy some dinner. When we were at the cabin, we enjoyed watching the hummingbirds feed and our dog enjoyed chasing chipmunks around the wood piles. A very nice getaway weekend! Thank you for sharing your piece of tranquility with us.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

This beautiful, serene setting and immaculate, well cared for cabin, was a perfect combination for our vacation in Colorado. You are right in the mountains at 9000 feet and there are more hiking trails than one could do in our week stay, although we tried. We especially enjoyed the beautiful sunrises from the front porch. The owners have provided all the amenities you would need. Definitely would recommend this for a vacation spot in the mountains.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+.

This vacation rental was all that we hoped for: location, amenities, dog friendly. I felt as though the owners made their home available to us. I loved to see the 2 deer that grazed in the yard and the hummingbirds dancing on the front porch. After a short climb, we were on the Rainbow Trail to experience the trove of treasures that those hills offered. I will recommend the Pines Mountain Home to mountain lovers. Thanks, VRBO!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

What a wonderful place to celebrate our 30th anniversary! The cabin was very spacious, clean and had everything that we could possibly need. The kitchen was awesome as we prepared all of our meals. We felt right at home. We loved the feeling of being isolated in the mountains in our cozy cabin - very relaxing, Sitting out on the deck and watching the wildlife and just enjoying the amazing view of the valley and the mountains was priceless. And seeing the lights of Westcliffe and Silvercliffe at night was incredible. We have vacationed in this area for the last 15-20 years and were thrilled at experiencing it in this wonderful cabin. We enjoyed hiking around the property and surrounding forest - it was so quiet and peaceful . . Just the therapy we needed away from our busy lives! We hope to return sometime soon . . It just doesn't get any better than this!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Every morning we sat on the porch in the cool air and sipped coffee while watching the sun rise over the Wet Mountain Valley. The hummingbirds hovered around, deer grazed in the yard and baby bunnies nibbled the grass while the breeze tickled the leaves of the Aspen trees. We could hike through the back yard and right into the Sangre de Cristo national forest. The nearby town of Westcliffe/Silvercliff had nice restaurants, parades, a rodeo and friendly people. The owners were delightful to work with and very attentive. We can't recommend this cabin highly enough. The sky really is bluer in Colorado. Amazing!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We love sharing our home with people who appreciate the beauty of the Wet Mountain Valley. Thank you to the Gibbs family for their kind comments and for taking such good care of the house during their stay.

We experienced a completely relaxing 3 days at this property The solitude was fun for a change and a joy to sit on the front porch and view deer, squirrels and birds chatterinng and doing their thing. Very quiet and comfortable with all the amenities of home but also private and away from others. Clean, practical and plenty of room to be ourselves. We are thinking of another weekend getaway soon or of a future potential family get together for a longer time period at this property. We recommend this property highly. Thank you to the owners.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: It's always good to hear what our guests value about their stay so we can do our best to make sure we continue to provide what you want during your time away.

This is a beautiful house that is remotely located about 40 minutes outside of a tourist town of Canon City. We were able to spend quality time, explore the outdoors along the infamous "Rainbow Trail" (located just on the boundary of the property), rich in Western Ranch History, and outdoor wildlife visible from the porch. We spent hours sitting on the cozy porch watch numerous humming birds and multiple mule deer. The accommodations were much more than we could have ever imagined or expected - extremely well cared for, updated, and clean. The kitchen area is so large that many of our conversations, game playing, and daily brain storming for activities occurred around the table. There is a reference book for the guests that give you insight into the history that surrounds you, gives you options for adventures - which we highly recommend white water rafting/4-wheeler riding and touring the Great Sand Dunes National Park. There is much too see and do, but at the same time you could opt to do nothing and enjoy the quietness of the house/landscape. The owners were quickly attentive to our questions both prior to arrival and during our stay as needs arose. We would love to return to this place of adventure/wonder and pure enjoyment. One of our most memorible vacations with friends/children. Thank you so much for sharing your house with us!!!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Our family has been at the house for a little over a week now. This afternoon we had 8 wild turkeys walk past the front porch. As Kate mentioned, deer are plentiful in the area as well. We want all of our guests to enjoy their time in the Wet Mountain Valley. It is truly a wonderful place.
