It offers a vacation in an area often called The Last Frontier, an area of peace, solitude and beauty along North Carolina's Outer Banks. This off road area requiring four wheel drive, is a strip of twelve miles beginning at the end of Highway 12 and ending at the Virginia state line along the pristine Atlantic Coast.
Sweet Retreat is a charming spacious cottage set amongst Loblolly Pines and visited often by wild horses. Awake each morning to the peaceful sound of the surf and gorgeous sunrises. Upper deck offers ocean views. Stroll along the wide beaches and search for treasured shells and sand dollars left behind by the changing tides. Take pictures of the wild mustangs of Carova who have roamed the beaches since the early 1500's when Spanish ships went aground and lost their equestrian cargo to the wondrous dunes of Carova (Carolina and Virginia equals CAROVA).
Visit the unique shops and restaurants of nearby Corolla and Duck. Plan a trip to the famous Corolla Light House or Whalehead Club. Spend many glorious hours on the beach watching the dolphins frolic in the surf, building sandcastles, and basking in the beauty of this unspoiled beach. End your day in the hot tub and the large screened in porch and relish the beauty of the star filled sky seen at its best on Carova nights.
