What a beautifully appointed home: gorgeous antiques and soooo comfortable. It was a pleasure to stay here. Go to 12 Petite Champlain which is the Marie Clarisse Restaurant. Have bouilliabaise (sp?). Thank you for sharing your home. Bruce A., Florida

Cindy & Paul We enjoyed your beautiful home and city for an entire week. The accommodations were deluxe! Highlights of our stay were a delicious gourmet meal prepared in la Maison Ursulines’ kitchen by Pierre-Paul and served by James, and a guided tour by Ed of the Island D'Orleans. A guided walking food tour was also a hit. Everything was so great this trip. We were so well located. Ed and Carol were very gracious and the catered in dinner by Pierre-Paul and James is highly recommended. Thanks so much for a wonderful vacation. Greg, Nancy, Tom and Pat

Cannot Say Enough Good Things About Our Stay

Guest: Richard Laws
Date of Stay: 06/05/11 Review Submitted: 06/15/11

Hi Paul, I cannot say enough good things about our stay at la Maison Ursalines last week, and have been trumpeting our good fortune for having discovered la Maison to all of our friends since returning. To start with - your home is incredibly welcoming and comfortable. We felt very much "at home", as compared to the sterile, anonymity of a hotel room. The furnishings were very comforatble and the antiques and artwork, etc. contributed to the overall elegance. Location, as with most real estate, is certainly the key. To be able to leave the apartment and be right in the middle of everything that old Quebec has to offer was wonderful. But, on the same hand, their was none of the "hustle, bustle" of typical big cities - the neighborhood was quiet and serene. It was our first trip to Quebec and our party enjoyed the beauty and history of the city. The weather even cooperated. Also, managers were delightful hosts - gave us lots of good ideas about restaurants, etc. - and were very helpful and accomodating. All in all, it was a wonderful vacation. I would not hesitate to come again (possibly in a different season) and would recommend la Maison without hesitation. I found the la Maison through Home Away, and will be expressing my comments to them as well.

5 STAR STAY IN QUEBEC CITY

Guest: Sue and Rick (Beverly, MA, USA)
Date of Stay: 06/05/11 Review Submitted: 06/14/11

Our group of six adults have recently spent a memorable week at la Maison Ursaline in Quebec City. We thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful, comfortable home. It combined modern comfort and amenities with "just the right" amount of elegance in antiques, artwork and the antiquity of the building. I felt like I was in a "special" place for a week, and I was. The incredibly convenient location in Old Quebec-puts all of the sites, shops, museums, and many great restaurants right outside your doorstep. This being our first visit, we loved Quebec City, the history, beauty, and "old world" ambiance. Enjoyed the tour of the Citadelle very much. Even the weather cooperated during our visit (early June), I would recommend this lovely home, without hesitation, for people who enjoy comfort and convenience. Carol & Ed Sweeney, who greeted us upon arrival, could not have been more accomodating and helpful.

Owner response:Sue & Rick Thank you for choosing to stay at la Maison Ursulines, at the heart of The Quebec UNESCO World Heritage Site ...and for your kind remarks. Our little team works hard every day to make sure our guests' stays are very special and memorable; from the detailed trip planning information that's sent prior to each guest's arrival to welcoming our guests at the residence; it's all planned to provide the best experience possible in "la Belle Ville de Quebec". The "Old City" is a true "gem" of a destination; thank you for noting the residence's location and the many surrounding amenities. Again, thank you for your remarks and please don't hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance in any way. Best, Cindy & Paul Tetreault

Our stay was super!! Quebec and Maison Ursuline were so wonderful that the down pours didn't matter. You said to make ourselves at home and we did. The house is so inviting, and could not have been in a better location. We hope to return.

What a Great House and what a Great Spot!

Guest: Margaret (Hingham, MA, USA)
Date of Stay: 05/03/11 Review Submitted: 05/09/11

Paul and Cindy, Just wanted to follow up with you and let you know what a wonderful time we had in Quebec City at Maison Ursulines. What a great house and what a great spot! We enjoyed all of the lovely spaces in the home. Dining room was our favorite hangout! Quebec City was just as beautiful as I remembered it even if it did rain every minute that we were there. Didn't hinder us at all. Carol and Ed were lovely and very helpful. The only down side to our trip is that one of our traveling companions ended up in the hospital ( complications from a recent surgery she had) the night before we were heading to Quebec and was not able to make the trip with us. She was very disappointed! We hope to make it back to Quebec someday and will certainly keep Maison Ursulines in mind. Margaret

Owner response:Margaret, Thank you for the kind words and for choosing to stay at la Maison Ursulines. When you visit again, we'll make the weather cooperate in a more positive way ...somehow. We work hard each and every day to make each guest's experience a truely exceptional one. It's a labor of love with la Belle Ville de Quebec; an incredible back-drop to la Maison Ursulines. Best wishes, Paul

Date of Stay: 06/26/10 Review Submitted: 06/04/11

How terrific was our stay at Maison Ursulines? Well, in spite of some fairly strong rain every day except our last, we (including Karlye's 88 year old mother) just loved the house; and we absolutely adored Quebec. Old Quebec seemed to have more helpful residents and business people per city block than any other place we're been. Perhaps, it's from living and working in such a thoroughly beautiful place. The location of the house simply couldn't be more convenient to the tourist center; however, it was completely quiet, not at all noisy during our stay. We found the neighborhood loaded with so many good places to eat (hard to choose with only a few nights' stay), and even had the convenience of a small grocery just a few doors away. We were in awe of the amount of work it must have taken to modernize the house; and yet, the house retains so much charm. Indeed, we do hope to return, perhaps during another season. At that time, we hope you two will still let others share in the experience of staying at Maison Ursulines.

This place is brilliant. It is located in the best position in the old city. The presentation of the condo is beautiful. Dont waste your money on a hotel, this is too good too miss. Right from the beginning we had great communication, and were greeted on arrival (at night) by a lovely couple. We have to children 9 & 11 and they also had a great time. This is without a lie one of the best private condo's I have ever stayed at. Thanks Paul & Cindy.

Owner response:Aussies13, Thank you for the note and kind words. We're certainly glad that you enjoyed la Belle Ville de quebec and la Maison Ursulines. Thank you again for taking the time to submit this note; you're remarks bolster us to continue our tradition of striving for perfection for our guests. Best, Paul

September 8, 2009 Paul, We had a wonderful time in Quebec City, and the best part was staying in your lovely home. We found the house very comfortable and convenient to many places. The people there were very friendly and enjoyed just listening to French conversations everywhere we went. We wished that we could speak the language ourselves. Thanks again, Jeff

Guest: GeorgeP2 (Newport, RI, USA)
Date of Stay: 12/10/08 Review Submitted: 12/28/08

What a great home and location, right in the middle of the old city but on a quiet side street. Church bells pealing and horse hoofs clopping; it's just like the Ile d'Cite in Paris ...but actually nicer. The Old City is more like a large village than an over-whelming city. Great for strolling around and soaking-in the wonderful ambiance. The deli two doors away is perfect for the morning pastry, a quick lunch snack or a great bottle of wine or beer. At least six or seven great restaurants within a one minute walk …no kidding. What a great accommodation. Great layout allows for 2 or 3 couples while allowing for privacy for everyone. Both full bathrooms and off of hallways so there's no need to disturb anyone. The library/office is great and the dining room table easily seats 10 or 12. This would be a great spot for a party or a family gathering. We are already planning our return. George

Right in the heart of Upper Town and the UNESCO World Heritage Site, just as advertised. This is a very spacious home, great for us since we were 2 couples ...lots of "private space" available. Library/ Office was a treat, was able to connect and relax! Property is maintained in a spotless condition. Antiques and great art work every where. Great deli just doors away ...Le Conti at the end of the street, Le Chateau just around the corner. Church bells pealing, flowers every where, great food, museums right next door, we'll be back to la Maison Ursulines, our new "home" in la Belle Ville de Quebec

Owner response:Thank you for your response and kind words. Our team works very hard, every day to make sure each guest's stay is special and well thought-out. Thank you again for your kind remarks. Best, la Maison Ursulines, Quebec

My husband and I wanted to write to thank you for sharing your beautiful condominium with us. We had a most delightful week in Quebec City! The location was perfect--close to everything the "Haute-Ville" has to offer. This was a much happier experiece than a stay in any luxury hotel. The condo is so spacious, yet warm and inviting, and so tastefully decorated! We will book early for next year, as this has become our new home away from home. Many thanks again for an unforgettable holiday

I'm sitting in the dining room right now. We've been here for three days and its fantastic. The location is really unbeatable - very quiet street but closer to the main sites and great shops/restaurants than 99% of the other hotels we've seen around. We will definitely be back. The deli/small grocery store really is two doors away and has most of the basics you'll need to stock the kitchen for odds and ends between the fabulous meals you'll have in the city.

Great house! Excellent location! Old Quebec is a beautiful city and especially nice to walk everywhere and not bother with the car. We dined at some fabulous restaurants: Café de la Paix (44 rue desJardins), Pain Beni (our favorite) at 34 rue Ste Anne, Aux Anciens Canadiens (34 rue Ste Louis). This has been a good time of year to visit …no crowds, good cool weather. Thank you for sharing your home.

“Good girls go to heaven …bad girls go to Quebec!” Thus begins the saga of the fabulous Houns girls and their saga! What a glorious way to celebrate my 78th birthday with my two daughters. From the beginning to the end, we had a wonderful time and a delightfully fun time.We took in ALL the sights, the wonderful cuisine, got “hit on” by the suave Frenchmen we encountered and this was a major thrill at my lofty age.We highly recommend the high tea at the Chateau Frontnac (one of our few refined moments, but so much fun!)The apartment is spectacular, so beautiful and with every convenience, as well as very accessible. With my heritage of my grandparents being natives of Quebec, I felt a great sense of deja-vux as well as a sense of “belonging” here. It was a moving experience for all of us.Ed was most helpful in every way and we greatly appreciated his help in making this a special trip for us.We will tell our friends about this beautiful apartment and hope to return in the ear future. Merce beaucoup,

(Guest Comments) I came here with my boyfriend Vinnie. I was hesitant because Vinnie can be harsh. One day we had a fight and I stormed out and met a nice hansome man from Quebec City. It was amazing, we became instant lovers. I stayed at my new lover’s flat. We retuned to the condo to explain to Vinnie that we were finished. He went into a violent rage.Vinnie and my (new) lover struggled, then Vinnie fell down the stairs and hit his head on the hard floor. I knew it was bad when I saw a few drops of blood come from his right ear. We did not know what to do. We decided to put Vinnie’s body in a large trash bag. We drove to a city park and placed it near a hill and covered the body with leaves and dirt.I confess now, but please remember Vinnie was a very bad man with a criminal record. I doubt he will be missed other than for his hoodlum friends in New Jersey. The stress of the incident led to the fall-out between my lover and me. He was so nice and helpful in getting rid of Vinnie’s body.Other than the drama of all this, I had a wonderful time and found Quebec City charming. The architecture is stunning and the people charming. Thank you and I’m sorry that Vinnie’s ghost might haunt your place.Sincerely,Well, I can’t give my name

Who knows where they went every day, but they always returned happy.I love this place and spent way too much time lounging on the wonderful couch in the living room. I want one like that! Will definitely recommend this place and Ed Sweeney to friends visiting Quebec. Don’t wait until the last night to have a drink at the Chateau Frontnac.

When we told people we were going 7 hours north in the month of November for our honeymoon, they thought we were crazy, they were sure wrong. Quebec is a magical city… from the cobblestone streets, to the horse drawn carriages, to the stunning architecture, to the art galleries, antique shops and boutiques, to everyone ice skating at all hours of the days. It has felt like a winter wonderland and a beautiful, romantic European city all wrapped into one. Two days ago it snowed from noon to night. We literally pinched ourselves to make sure that all we were marveling at was real,.Leaving will be bittersweet for us both. Bitter because we will miss your condo and the city of Quebec. We will especially miss the food, every meal was delicious as is evidenced by our enhanced girths. We will also miss this cozy and comfortable retreat that we return to often. It will be sweet to go home, see our dog and share all our pictures and stories with friends and family. We can’t wait to return.

We love the spaciousness of this accommodation. The furnishings have helped us “get in the mood” to enjoy QC more. The home is quite quiet, much to our surprise. You have an interesting collection of books. The nearby grocer was a welcome addition to our vacation …we found another one only a few blocks away. Our Sherbrook friends came to visit and now, they wish to rent this property too.We will be back. What a perfect place to spend Christmas! We attended a beautiful Christmas Eve service at the Holy Trinity Church down the street, followed by Christmas Day (with a Christmas tree and presents) and a long walk on a beautiful snowy night.Ed has been an exceptional host. The condo is truly superior to other properties where we’ve stayed. We found the location to be ideal with a small store two doors down and great places to eat everywhere. We probably gained 10 lbs. Each. We also enjoyed eating Christmas dinner on the fine china in the condo.Thank you again for a very memorable time. We hope to return for a summer in Quebec.

Rather than mention the obvious vieux Quebec attractions, of which there are many and you will find fairly easily on your own. I suggest that you go to Rue St. Joseph to the bakery that starts with a B. It is excellent. Ed says this is the "seediest" part of town, but not to worry. Quebec is safe everywhere. Perhaps go to the Frontnac Hotel, take the elevator to the 17th floor and look out the window for a good view of the old city and beyond. Go to the 16th and check out the stair window on the way. Take your camera. Rue Jacques Cartier, Canyon De St Anne, September chutes and the walking trail through the park are worthwhile. Thanks Ed for providing our family the most enjoyable vacation that one can have with two teenage boys. Someday we will come back, word of mouth will be exemplary back where we are from.

We have fallen in love with Quebec and this lovely oasis. What a special combination. We definitely will be back, hopefully to this wonderful place on desJardins. Ed, you were right, once you figure out a few streets the Old City is easy to drive in. Aux Ancients Canadians, What a bargain, but make reservations! Loved the crepe place. Thanks for all of your tips, best to you and your family. Thanks you for a wonderful visit.

My Birthday!! What a great way to celebrate 40 years on this planet! The accommodation is excellent and Quebec is a magnificent city. I can recommend a pint of Guineness at the Irish Pub and some retail therapy and Simons Store. Best wishes to all who pass this way.

We had an amazing 5 night stay at this beautiful condo in Old Quebec City. This added to our overall experience and made us feel a part of the community. Being in the heart of the city we were within walking distance to all the local attractions. We would recommend this condo to anyone wanting to experience the best Old Quebec City has to offer. Thanks Ed and Family for making our first trip to Quebec awesome!! We hope to return sooner than later.

We couldn't have chosen a more lovely place to stay during our visit to Quebec City this past August. Your condo was truly unique and spacious not to mention so luxourious and comfortable. The location is spectacular! We never had to drive our car once for the entire 4 days we were there. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. Thank you for providing us with such a lovely place to come home to each night!

This place was such a find! The location is perfect. It was magical to be able to experience the beauty of our city of origin again, but this time not only from the outside but also from the inside. It was the perfect way to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary.
