Cradled at the foot of Taos mountain between Taos and Ski Valley on the Valdez Rim Road, MyHouse is quiet, private, and a truly special experience. This authentic restored 1000 square foot adobe is a local landmark, with a spectacular 360 degree view over the mesa and back towards ski valley. A beautiful 15-minute drive up to the ski lift, 5 minutes to the charming town of Arroyo Seco with great restaurants and shops, and a beautiful 20-minute drive back to town!
This artist's home is very colorful with lots of original art. It features an old kiva fireplace as well as a woodstove (if you know how to use it) and we also have radiant heat, skylights, saltillo tile floors, a sensational bathroom and a high old viga beam ceiling in the living room. Sit on the large portal (porch) in the front to enjoy the cool breezes, or on the charming patio off the kitchen with it's firepit and special view out over the Valdez Valley.
The living room has a banco (a large window seat) with a wonderful view to the West and the sunset over the mesa. A handmade mullioned window adds special interest -- really comfortable furniture, lots of good books, a satellite TV with over 100 channels and wireless internet.
You'll sleep peacefully in the intimate, romantic, charming bedroom -- it still has an old hand-painted paned window typical of original Taos houses, little nicho with a special light, an old dental cabinet for some of your things, a large closet and a really comfortable queen-sized bed.
As you can see, our bathroom is very special too. We think you'll love it!
Our check-in time is 3:00 and check-out is 11:00 -- we know you'll hate to leave!
Pets: The house has a private entrance and huge, separate fenced yard -- we welcome one or two good dogs. Sorry, no cats though.
TO MAKE A RESERVATION: We have a 3-night minimum. Please email us to make a reservation (see below,'CLICK TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS PROPERTY'). We are not often home to answer the phone! Thanks.

We stayed 4 nights at MyHouse at the end of April. It was clean, well appointed, and very interesting. We have had good luck with VRBO rentals; haven't had a bad experience yet after about 15 or so, and this was no exception. Ann was also very helpful with advice on places to go and eat and drink. MyHouse was equipped better than average with all the utensils, glasses, plates, bowls, etc. we needed, and I even found an unopened can of peanuts to satisfy my late night cravings. The decorating was whimsical and artsy; we kept finding new little things we hadn't seen yet the entire time we were there. We really liked the open patio (portal?) in the front and the very private and sheltered back yard patio. We didn't use any of the fireplaces because it was so nice when were there, but surely would have appreciated them had it been chillier. The view of Arroyo Hondo was spectacular (although you have to walk across the street to really see down into it), and we much prefer staying in a place like this to being in town. This was a great base for the places we wanted to see, which included the trail up to Wheeler Peak from the ski area, Red River and surrounding areas, and the Wild Rivers recreation area on the Rio Grande. We didn't hike up towards Wheeler Peak because there was still too much snow, but took a very nice hike down into the Rio Grande gorge at Wild Rivers.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I just returned home from beautiful Taos and had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful property for six nights. This home is warm and inviting (ex. great wood-burning stove) and my golden made good use of the enormous yard. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, cookware, etc. and if you forgot something the owner likely has it stocked there for you (spices, soap, etc.). The location is great - about ten minutes south to town or ten minutes east to the base of the ski valley.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful 2 week stay at your adobe home! It was perfect for our needs... quintessential New Mexico. You have created such warmth in your decor, it made us feel at home. Diverse library collection , great for those snowy days. The yard was absolutely perfect for our dog, she had free roam in a protected environment. Location was great...paved roads a plus and very easy access to TSV and town. We will be looking forward to our next stay in your adobe!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners.

Just got home to Oklahoma after staying 4 nights, my husband Max and I and our two little schnauzers Sam and Lloyd, felt right at home when we arrived, this place has a cool feel the minute u walk in, all the pics r exactly what u get, Ann was sooo easy to work with, always answered any questions we had within 5 min via email. We loved the privacy, beautiful views of the canyon, and such an easy drive to Taos and the ski valley. Can't wait to go back this summer and hang in the front garden area. Have already recommended the property to several friends. Also you must eat at Orlando's New Mexican food! Ann was great about recommendations, and this is one not to be missed, thanks Ann for a great stay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway.

"I can't wait to visit... Although I have not yet been there, I have been so impressed with your communication and willingness to work with me. Customer service usually reflects quality of product, and you are right up there at the top! :)" From owner: she's reserved for May, but the vrbo calendar wouldn't let me select that date!Did you find this review helpful? "Ann, We had a blast this past week and the house was excellent. Mike and I travel so much and stay in VRBO or Home Away properties all the time and this was definitely one of our best picks. The yard for the dogs was so easy, and we met our neighbors and spent time with them which was nice. We hiked everyday and enjoyed the trip so much we are thinking of coming back this summer to hike Wheeler Peak. Again, thank you so much the place was just amazing!"Did you find this review helpful? One of the high-lights in staying in Taos,NM is being able to stay for a long week-end in this casita (small house). It's just far enough outside of Taos to have the views and serenity, but close enough to have access to the wonderful restaurants and galleries that Taos offers. Her artistic eye is evident throughout the casita. The old adobe walls lend a beautiful back-drop to her art and furnishings. Her attention to detail and style left nothing un-done. Our Great Dane, "The Sheriff" had a grand time galloping around her fenced property, while we lazily sipped our wine underneath the portal (porch). Truly a gem. Looking so forward for our next stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.

What a wonderful treat! Ann's place is absolutely the colorful and comfortable home base that is shown in the pictures - better, in fact. First off, it's HUGE! The amount of space is just wonderful, and in the summer, it doubles with the ability to use the garden area and the area on the portal (porch) outside. Secondly, it is beautiful, with all the wonderful art (including Ann's own), a huge selection of books, and the fantastic, quirky pieces that let you know you're in Taos. It was quite cold in Taos while I was there, and it became a ritual in the morning to get up, get the coffee going and then work on the fire. Even without the fire going, the casita was warm and inviting - with the fire, it was wonderfully toasty. This chance to incorporate a simpler routine into my morning honestly helped me get a bit re-grounded, exactly what I needed. The casita is a little bit outside Taos, which means really clear skies at night and a 10 minute drive into town. Taos itself is, of course, a wonderful, art-filled place and a delight to visit. I can't wait to get back!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1999
About the owner: Do you like my self-portrait? I'm a sometime artist who drove up the canyon road past the hairpin turn, over the top to the view, and into the rest of my life.
Why the Owner Chose Taos:
The old adobes of Taos are very special. Handmade, each one unique, with soft welcomng curves. History, romance, an old neighborhood, and astoundiing views.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I fell in love with this place because I walked into the living room, saw the window my parents had in their house in 1929, and was home again! You'll feel at home as well.
