This is the perfect getaway cabin for someone looking to escape the city life, sitting on a very private one acre parcel with direct access and views of the Upper Delaware River in Narrowsburg, NY.
This 1950's home has been completely renovated and furnished in an Adirondack theme. The house is about 750 square feet indoors. In the main room of the house is a king size four post log bed with high end mattress and bedding. The entire space has been remodeled to offer a roomy floorplan with everything a couple could want for the perfect vacation from a city environment. In the main area, there is a dining table comfortable for 4. There is a sitting area in front of a 30" tv with a sleeper sofa and chair and ottoman. There is music,games and a library filled with books for your use. There is a small but fully equipped kitchen with everything needed for cooking in or just doing "take-in". There is full service for 6 and you will find everything in the kitchen you would expect in a much larger home. There is a gas barbeque on the deck for keeping the cooking outdoors.
We have recently installed a gas Old Vermont Castings Cast Iron stove fireplace that operates by remote.
There is a newly created bonus room over the garage with 2 twin beds and a sitting area with its own view of the river. There are ceiling fans, A/C and heat for the winter months. This area shares the bathroom with the main area which is only steps away.
Off the back of the house is a large open deck with a commanding view of the river. There is a table with an umbrella for outdoor dining as well as some lounges for enjoying sun bathing or spending time outside watching the river flow by. A large backyard and a beach area sit below the deck. The views from this house look out to the Pennsylvania shoreline and an unspoiled view of rocks and mountains with a few waterfalls to complete the picture. There is no development on the other shoreline, therefore the only people you will see as you look out are the occasional rafter or fisherman floating by during the day. You are more likely to see ducks, geese, herons ad bald eagles as well as deer and other river animals making their way along the shoreline. Although there are neighbors, this property sits on an acre on the river and sits on a bit of a turn in the river so there is a very private feel to the property. There is also a covered porch with a table and chairs off the kitchen, with view of the river as well that can be enjoyed even when it is raining. Next to the house an outdoor fireplace with another seating area, which can be used for a charcoal barbeque (if preferred) or for a firepit if you like.
The house is located in a quiet tree lined residential neighborhood filled with modest but charming homes owned by both locals and New York City second home owners. Very often, even during the summer, the weekdays are VERY VERY quiet!
The Delaware River is renowned for fishing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing as well as bird watching. There are several nesting bald eagles located less than a block from the house. Canoe livery services are available in Narrowsburg as well as up and down the river for over 30 miles.
The house is located 5 blocks from the downtown of Narrowsburg, a beautiful river town filled with shops and restaurants. You can find everything in Narrowsburg from a grocery store to fine antiques and art galleries. Dining in Narrowsburg is excellent fro a small town. There are a few upscale restaurants as well as a few diner/tavern styled eateries. You ca also find a pizzeria and chinese take out. There is a coffee bar and bakery in town.
Within a 15 minute drive, you can either be in Honesdale,PA a large town with major box stores and a large downtown for shopping and eating or you can reach a number of other River communities with shopping and fine dining
Narrowsburg is also 15 minutes from the New Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts.
There is a great deal of culture and activities in the Catskills,many of which are Summertime only, but many others like the Monticello Gaming and Raceway, that are year round. You can choose from a variety of local theater, jazz, opera as well as Cabaret performances throughout the summer. There are at least 15 public Golf courses within a short drive.
