Spent a long weekend with just me and the dog - very relaxing, peaceful and quiet. Great sunrises and views. The cabin was clean, well equipped, and was what I expected from the pictures and descriptions. Very easy to work with Harold on agreements, payments etc. Enjoyed hiking on the Superior National trails, lots of wildlife! Would highly recommend.
Owner response:As the new owners continue to make upgrades to the cabin and property, we are very aware of the satisfaction of our guests stay. Judging by the guestbook comments,we are confident their experience was very positive. Thank you Steve for leaving the place so neat and clean, When we went to change the cabin we could hardly tell anyone had been there. Harold and Rae, Mgrs

This was our first time bringing our 5 yr old daughter to the north shore. The cabin was a great central location to split rock, Tettegouche and Gooseberry state parks. It really was just exactly what we needed. This is a true log cabin and it is quite nice. The place was clean and well kept. Kitchen was well stocked for cooking and the grill is right outside the door. The beds were great ! The owners were very easy to work with .The dog and our daughter loved it. We plan on staying here again. Most important the Easter Bunny found us there.

My husband I had a wonderful long weekend here. The property was very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed hiking and sight seeing at near by Split Rock and Gooseberry Falls. Great food was had at Cove Point Crossings Bar & Grill and Camp 61 in Beaver Bay. We also took a road trip further north to Lutsen and enjoyed the scenic route. We would definitely return.
Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your trip/stay at Palisade Cabin. With new owners we are making every effort to improve the cabin and furnishings. Harold and Rae, managers

Our family of four adults spent three nights over the Christmas holiday and very much enjoyed a special time celebrating in the quiet of this place. The view is spectacular and exceeded our expectations. The care takers even placed a small lighted tree for us to enjoy. This cabin is ideal for those who are wishing for a tranquil time away and can appreciate the craftsmanship of the hand hewn log construction and the rustic feel of the interior. We found the Palisade Log Cabin to be clean and offering most all we needed to make our holiday stay one we will remember for many years to come. Do note there is not a DVD player, just a VCR. That was our only regret as we had hoped to watch a few of our favorite holiday DVD movies.
Owner response:As of Feb 2nd a new TV and DVD player have been added.

The log cabin itself is beautiful and the lake views are great. However there are some updates that need to be done. Broken window and holes in the screens. The towels were frayed and scratchy. Bedding pilled and torn. The cabin could use a deep cleaning. The refrigerator and bathroom were dirty upon our arrival. Plastic deck furniture broken. This is an uniquie property that could be awesome with some attention.
Owner response:These issues have been noted and taken care of. New windows (a Grouse flew into them) and other items have added to upgrade the cabin.

This small rustic cabin is comfortable and very private. We spent 4 nights here and enjoyed the quiet woods that surround the cabin. The trees were constantly filled with a variety of birds The rugged rocky cliffs provide a spectacular view!! Sunrise peeking thru the fog is a sight you will long remember.

Indeed a beautiful cabin! My husband and I stayed there for part of our honeymoon and were treated to gorgeous views, a few deer sightings and absolute peace. It was a ways off the frontage road, but provided an ample buffer between us and the freeway. We were close enough in to Two Harbors to feel like we weren't in the wilderness, so to speak, but not exactly staying in the downtown of a bustling tourist town, either. Another plus was that it wasn't a colossal place on the lake - so many of the properties up along the shore are these behemoth 5 bedroom/3 bathroom places; this cabin had the master bedroom and the bedroom with the bunks, along with a largish common room that had the kitchen, a dining area and the living room. The place was overall a bit more rustic than either of us had anticipated, but it was an easy adjustment to make. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a simple, quiet time up on the lake. Plan on reading all afternoon and treating yourself to a nice fire in the evening.

The cabin and the experience was absolutely wonderful. The view of Lake Superior is beautiful, especially in the early morning with the sunrise. My greatest moment was when I got engaged on the back deck of the cabin. It was beautiful!!!!!!

My girl friend and I stayed at this cabin during the annual Duluth Bayfront Blues Fest. It is truely a once in a lifetime experience. The sunrises over Lake Superior are spectacular. The rugged beauty of the Superior shoreline just below this cabin make it a real treat to hike around and get the rustic woodland experience. We saw many deers and wildlife while sitting around the fire pit and the evening stars where awesome. We will definitely be back. Thanks, Mac and Merrily Twin Cities

What an idyllic time my children and I had at this cabin. Hiking at Tettegouche, Gooseberry Falls and Palisade Head; grilling steaks at the cabin, Lake Superior sunrises on the deck. Cabin was immaculate, everything worked and was even prettier than the Internet pics. We'll be back.
Owner response:Thank You so much for your comment! You hit in on the head, Palisade Head ofcourse, and now we have NEW PHOTOS, to get the true feel the Cabin inside and out! Thanks again!

What a perfect place for our ladies' Autumn retreat -- a rare combination of restful seclusion surrounded by nature (the autumn colors were spectacular!), yet with easy access to the Gitchi-Gami bike trail, Tettegouche Park (breathtakingly beautiful waterfalls!), and nearby quaint Lemon Wolf Cafe (great lunches!). We were pleased to find the cabin and it's furnishings even better than expected, combining quality, comfort and special "up north" touches throughout. It truly made returning there after a full day of activities feel like we were coming home. We will long remember toasting our friendship with a glass of wine in front of the cozy woodstove fire. Thank you so much for sharing your special spot with us. We'll be back!
Owner response:Thank you Stephanie, and ladies! We appreciated your comments, and hope to hear from you again! I guess we are still awaiting NEW and UPDATED Cabin furnishing photos, but hope to have them on line soon!

If you are looking for serenity in the midst of awesome natural beauty, you'll find it in this lovely decorated Palisade Log Cabin Home. Whether in the morning as the sun rises over the fog shrouded lake, in afternoon when the sun glitters like diamonds on the lake's surface, be witness to a full moon rising through birch and pine trees lighting The Palisade Head Cliffs like a beacon, or be fortunate to watch a bald eagle soaring overhead, peace prevails upon you. It's a place where you can relax and rejuvenate your soul. Guests: Karen and Larry Woods 08-02-04-2007

The log cabin was just great! Beautiful cabin, breathtaking views, very comfortable & a great North Shore location. During our Sunday morning coffee and prayers looking out over the Lake Superior vista, a bald eagle even landed in one of the birch trees and perched for a long time, about 20 feet from where we were sitting!! It simply doesn't get much better than that.
