CLIPPED COMMENTS--- If I was to design a dream vacation home, I would copy the Maile Tree House down to the smallest detail // Unforgettable stay // WOW! Absoulutely spectacular // Couldn't have picked a more Magical place to stay.. decor remarkably creative, the bedding & furniture very cozy, and the garden was beautiful with hidden suprises through-out. // Words can't express it // The pictures will never do it justice // After your place the other one we rented on the beach in Oahu couldn't compete!.. truly don't know how you can rent it to strangers // The house is just perfect, down to every last detail // Warm wood tones, cushy furniture, modern ammenities.. with whimsical touches..a place to truly relax // My husband asked what the best part of our trip was, I said the tree house, he said, 'That's exactly what I was going to say!'..quite a statement for him.. a.) MAILE TREE HOUSE, a LUXURIOUS & ROMANTIC COTTAGE on the Big Island. The ideal Volcano Vacation Rental in Hawaii. Custom built to bring the Rainforest in with it's abundance of large windows. A view from every room and in all directions- HAND CRAFTED wood interior & custom everything! The Built-in FIREPLACE is two sided with a rotating flatscreen above so that you can VIEW BOTH THE TV AND FIREPLACE from the Living Room, Bedroom, and JACUZZI tub. The LAVA ROCK surrounded tub is set in a bay window just steps away from the SELECT COMFORT BED, with reading lights over the Jacuzzi to soak up a good book. Tall ceilings, rich Brazilian Cherry floors, built in bookcases and cabinetry, skylights all combine to make a warm and memorable experience with Touches added here and there-- intended to delight.

b.) THE GARDEN SUITE downstairs is a separate 1BD/1BA (King or Twins) with it's own entrance and lanai. Bright, charming, and cozy with high ceilings, crown moulding, wainscotting, gas wall heater, heated mattress pads, mini fridge, coffee/tea, books, games, dvd/cd, flat screen, robes...

  • This is truly an enchanted treehouse and the creative attention to detail gave rise to new, fun discoveries throught our stay.  This is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting, but I really think it is all the little things that show this home was decorated with their heart,soul and spirit- that shared the magic!   • What a beautiful home! Of the 2 weeks we spent in the islands, our 3 day stay here was a highlight. The rainforest is beautiful and the natural privacy it provides is magical. The treehouse is designed and built beautifully. Leslie and Michael have invested much time and thought into making it a true haven and have provided all the necessities plus lots of special extras. It was clean, tidy, and well organized. The surprises kept us entertained throughout our stay and the personal touches made it more than mere "accommodations." I would highly recommend staying here. You won't regret it.

  • I can't say enough about this beautiful home! It was everything I had hoped for and more. We needed to get away from all of life's chaos, if only for two days and celebrate a birthday. All the little touches from the card and wine to the mints on the side of the bed, were so very thoughtful. I had to wonder if they lived in the home at one time because their attention to detail was phenomenal! The restaurant suggestions were also extremely helpful. I so hope to one day return and stay a little longer. All the reviews I read convinced me that this is where we needed to stay and I am so glad that I chose the Maile Treehouse for our PERFECT GETAWAY!! My only regret was not being able to stay longer..

  • Mahalo to Leslie Hess for the warm Aloha we received at the Maile Tree House. We have never stayed anywhere that compares to this lovely, peaceful, beautiful, wonderfully decorated piece of heaven. Words cannot express our thanks for letting us experience this place in the rain forest. Our plans were to get up early and hike, but instead we drank cup after cup of coffee and enjoyed the backyard. If we had to do it over, we would stay here much longer. We will be back!

The mood is charming and we spent leisurely mornings on the lanai listening to the birds and watching the clouds roll by.   • We love the Maile Tree House, a paradise within paradise! The kitchen was awesome, with every tool we needed to make everything we wanted. The beds were comfortable, the fireplace was cozy, the jacuzzi tub was relaxing and the environment...beautiful and peaceful. Every day was an opportunity to find something new to appreciate around the house. A lot of thought went into this place, down to providing rain jackets and flashlights. There was even a pair of scissors and a push light by the entry so you can see where to put your key in at night! You definitely need to stay here to realize the awesomeness of this special place.
