  Barbara's home was a great treat. In a very private building, her unit had everything we could possibly want for a vacation. The area was incredibly spectactular and we had plenty of room and a wonderful time! We hope to visit again soon. We brought our family of 5 and had a great time. It would a beautiful place to go as a couple as well. The views are awesome! I would really recommend a trip to Belaggio while you arestaying there. Many fine cafe's close by and an easy day trip to Switzerland.

  My family and I spent two glorious weeks at Vista Lago this past September. We rented the two bedroom as well as the studio next door, and both accommodations were well suited to our needs. The decor in both units was lovely and comfortable with all the amenities at our disposal. The views were spectacular from every vantage point, and we spent many hours taking in the majesty of it all. There is lots to explore around the lake and although the ferry provides good service, I would highly recommend renting a car. In all, it was a spectacular vacation and our family looks forward to future stays at Vista Lago.

  I came to Vista Lago with my husband, two small children and mother-in-law. We were very comfortable in the apartment. The place was beautiful as were the views. The restaurant next door was great, and we could walk to a small grocery store that met our needs. It was peaceful to be there and a great vacation! I can highly recommend the apartment and the area.

  We had a wonderful stay at Vista Lago in May 2009. The views of Lake Como are quite breathtaking and the afternoon entertainment with the locals fishiong on the lake is worth sitting for a while. The restaurant next door makes great pizzas.

  We spent two weeks in Barbara's apartment. Her descriptions of the villa were true to her word. It was very clean and comfortable. The views were what she had promised. The care package she sends prior to arrival was helpful . We dined at most of the restaurants that she suggested and found them to be wonderful. Silvana was there to greet us and answer any initial questions. A cell phone is made available for your use. I would suggest asking for lots of time due to the fact the house phone has a block. I would also suggest a car rental. The ferries were really the way to travel but the stops in Urio were not as frequent.

  I rented the studio at Vista Lago in June 2009. The location, right on Lake Como, could not be better. Also, I had a car and the underground parking was great. Studio has a great view over the lake, clean and reasonably well supplied. There were a couple of items lacking which I mentioned to Barbara, and I am sure she go right on them. Her staff person, Silvana, was excellent. Overall, a splendid experience. I happily recommend the studio for people who like independent living. I got to shop locally, made breakfast in every day and then took off from this amazing location.

  My husband and I and two other couples spent two weeks in May at Vista Lago. Carate Urio is an enchanting little village and the apartment is wonderful. The views are incredible and the location is perfect for traveling around the Lake. We enjoyed the ferry rides to the quaint villages, and the beautiful mountain scenery along the way. We ate most of our meals at the restaurant next door but did venture to Albergo Fiorini and Orso Bruno, both a short walk from the apartment. Both are excellent restaurants with friendly proprietors. We highly recommend a visit to Villa D'Este and Villa Balbianello and as many of the small villages as possible. As we drove around the Lake from Vista Lago, heading back to the airport for departure, we all knew we would return.

  We just returned from an amazing week at Vista Lago! Silvana was great and could not have been nicer or more helpful! She was so professional and her tour of Villa Balbienello was one of the highlights of our week. We agree with the other guests about the apartment's location- it was perfect for our day trips. And, the views were absolutely incredible! Thanks again Barbara and Silvana for a memorable week and we hope to return someday soon!

  Last September we spent a week of our honeymoon at Vista Lago. It was ideally suited for us - the views were magnificent and the apartment was perfect !!! The location was ideal - not too close to Como and not so far away either. The restaurant next door was fab and we also visited quite a few super restaurants in the area, including Il Gatto Nero, Locanda d'ell Isola Comacina, etc. After spending time in the busy cities of Venice & Milan, the relaxing atmosphere & incredible scenery of the lake was just what we needed. The apartment was superb & furnished with everything we needed. We hope to return one day. Thank you!

  This was my first, but not last stay in Barbara's apartment. It is in such a lovely location with such beautiful views up and down the lake. I know the area well, as I am restoring an old boathouse close by and think it is one of the best spots on the lake. The apartment was extremely comfortable and made a perfect home away from home and work base for my site visits. I'm looking forward to my next stay.

  We had such a wonderful time in Lake Como and at the Villa. It was beautiful, clean and had wonderful views from every room. It was perfect, and we would recommend it to anyone staying in the Lake Como area. It was wonderful to be able to leave the windows open at night and get fresh air in.   Thanks for sharing your excellent apartment on Lake Como. We enjoyed the two weeks and were so impressed with the apartment. You included everything you might want or need, including all the travel books for the area. We had great directions from Malpensa and the gated parking worked out perfectly. The building was very quiet, peaceful and well cared for, the foyer and elevator are well maintained. And oh! the views from every window, night and day, it was a magical place. We had the best weather even though it was October, early November, while on the island of Martha's Vineyard, there was a cold spell and heavy winds, we enjoyed warm, sunny days looking at palm trees, flowers, green gardens and views everywhere. Villa Carlotta, Villa Melzi and Villa Balbianello were beautiful historic locations. Your page of information and directions was very helpful. We shopped at Bennets and the smaller neighborhood store. We enjoyed the local restaurant so nearby. We found easy parking in Cernobbio and liked the open area on the lake and a small trattoria. We took the local boat from Urio to Como and the autoferry from Bellagio to Cadenabbia, also one other trip from Menaggio to Varenna. There were so many fantastic daytrips which we enjoyed seeing; Lake Lugano, Lake Maggiore, Bergamo, Bellagio, Como and all the lake towns and villages . Our trip to Milan included the cathedral, the Galleria and seeing Leonardo Da Vinci's famous fresco of the Last Supper. We were able to get tickets to see it on the web before we left. We have told many friends and family about the apartment and compliment your vision to see the advantages of Vista Lago and the exceptional location. Thanks for all your efforts to make Vista Lago a memorable trip.

  i wanted to let you know that we fell in love with your place. it was so comfortable and clean and had everything that we needed. silvana was very helpful too. you are very lucky! we went to a couple of the restaurants that you recommended and everything was right on. we also went to villa d'este for my birthday dinner and it was superb. the food was excellent, the ambience was wonderful and the staff was extremely friendly and courteous. if we return to lake como, or decide to go to martha's vineyard, i will be contacting you again.

  We spent a week in the summer and we had a great time. The apartment has everything needed to spend a faboulous vacation, the views are amazing,we loved the lake, the breeze at night, our hydroplane ride, EVERYTHING was perfect. Pictures cannot do justice to Vista Lago. Plus Barbara is a great owner and gives you plenty of tips and local information. I would love to go back soon! For those with kids, this is a great place to go!

  Vita Lago was perfect, in everyway, excellent size quality and the views were breathtaking - so nice we had to book again for our next trip before we left ! I think that says it all. Well organised in every way, key collection service went like clockwork.

  If you have to turn 30 anywhere then this has to be the place! I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful place to spend my 30th birthday! The apartment was better than many 5 star hotels I have stayed in with the magnificent views of the lake to wake up to every morning. I could never get sick of that view! The location was marvellous and the only downside was not being able to spend longer. My freinds and I would ALL recommend both the apartment and the setting and hope to return very soon. Zarina

  Comment Text: Vista Lago proved to be in as beautiful a location as the internet photos indicated it was. The skies were not quite so blue during the week I visited, but the hazy days created a mysterious aura and magical sunsets nevertheless. I loved gazing across the lake at a lovely and isolated villa nestled amongnst the green hills between Faggeto Lario and Torno. I decided it was one of the most beautifully elegant buildings I had ever seen; then one day I happened to see that enchanting villa in a Lake Como book! As it turns out,the splendid Villa Pliniana is quite famous and has been owned or visited by numerous illustrious people since it was built in the 1500's. Some of those people include Napoleon, Shelley, Byron, Rossini, and Verdi. The site itself is famous for a fountain described by Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger in Roman times and by Leonardo da Vinci after a visit in 1493. Torrid love affairs have happened there,as well as poems and operas written while the authors and composers were gazing across the lake in the direction of Vista Lago's location! This,for me,was a fasinating concept to ponder. Equally as fasinating to me was the fact that Vista Lago was previously a hotel that catered to a largely English clientele around the turn of the century on the "Grand Tour" of Europe, and the fact that it is located on an old Roman road,the Via Regina, which originated in Rome and eventually crossed the Alps. That road still wends its way along the lake front and I am pretty sure after driving it, that the road has not been widened since Roman times! Delightful Lake Como commands my return again and again, but this was my first visit in a private apartment. It was a marvelous experience to feel more connected to a community and to the people of the area. The apartment itself was certainly well appointed, comfortable, and magnificently located.   Vista Lago is a wonderful apartment in a ideal location. It is just a five minute walk to George Clooney’s Villa Orleander (on the Lake side behind a large iron gate - to avoid arguing which house it is with your companion) The apartment is fully furnished with everything you will need to enjoy your stay. Several great restaurants within walking distance and the boats are just a 15 minute walk. I suggest taking both the boats and the bus. On the nice days, take the boat.Be sure to do the tour with Silvana of the private villa, the highlight of the trip.

  The experince was absolutely wonderful! We discovered how fantastic it was to be a family in a relaxed and comfortable home and enjoy everything the local area had to offer - from the restaurant next door - great pasta and pizza to the 'dining pleasure'of eating with the locals at the Laglio Festiva. Can't wait to return.

  Hi Barbara, Spending one week at Vista Lago with my two daughters and daughter-in-law was the high-light of our 18 day trip to Europe. The apartment was beautiful, comfortable and so completely equipped. We didn't have a car and were able to use the boats and bus easily to get back and forth. The swimming pool was very nice!! I hope to go to Europe again some day and would like to spend all of it at Vista Lago in Curate Urio. Thank you again for wonderful accomodations.   Lake Como was everything we could have dreamed it would be. At Vista Largo you are right across the street (very narrow street)from the lake and EVERY window provides you a beautiful view!! The indoor swimming pool was a big hit with the kids and the adults appreciated the exercise room. Make sure you walk up behind the bldg, as there are many hidden wonders in the homes behind you on the hills. Follow any path leading up from the street. Your on site hostess was wonderful, warm, friendly, provided excellent tips on traveling in the area, spoke english and was only a phone call away. I would definately go back to Vista Largo and Lake Como. The Swiss border was only 10 minutes away and a beautiful drive. Vista Loargo was a 10 in our opinion!! Thanks so much for your assistance and the links to all the valuable information you provided. P.S. Wasn't impressed with Milan, too busy. Stay in Lake Como and explore the lake, it is worth it!

  Hello Barbara:Our long awaited trip to Como is sadly over. It did not disappoint. The two apartments were comfortable and well equipped even beyond our expectations. After a few days, we cancelled our car and got around fine on the boats and buses. We took the wrong bus from Como the first time and had to walk down the high road to the Strada Vecchia, but it wasn't a bad walk and the old buildings were something to see. We also took the bus from in front of the apartment to Villa Carlotta which was an interesting ride thru the old villages. I would recommend going the boat one way and the bus the other. Two different perspectives. We visited Bellagio twice - the first on a week day the second on a Sunday. It was very crowded on Sunday. A good day to avoid if you don't like crowds. Re: Eating, which is one of our favorite pasttimes, S. Bernardo and Fioroni were our dinner spots. Both were excellent. One of the things we have wanted to do since first coming to Como was eat at the Isola Comacina. We did it this time and it was a memorable experience. The fixed price is now 59 Euros, but we all felt the setting, food and total experience were well worth the cost. We didn't see your neighbor Mr. Clooney, but we broke even - he didn't see us either. Silvana and her husband provided excellent service and information and we haven't tired of Como and will keep it in our future travel plans. Thank you for all your efforts and the bottle of Prosecco. It is one of our favorites and was enjoyed by all. Again, many thanks. WISH WE WERE THERE. Rich & Lee

  Vista Lago is a joy--we loved starting and ending each day in the light-filled comfort of your incredibly well-appointed apartment. None of us every slept so well! The Lake....we spent much time exploring the wonderful small cities along this incredibly beautiful Lake. Don't miss Bellagio, Varena (wonderful jewelry store)--each with it's own personality. We took a day trip by train to Lugano, Switzerland--it was beautiful but couldn't hold a candle to Lake Como. Easy day trip. Lugano has some wonderful outdoor sculpture. Transportation by bus or boat is easy and inexpensive. One of the best things about Carate Urio is the people...the lovely, wonderful Italian people. Very gracious and kind and low-key. Carate Urio is not a tourist locale--wonderful! Not to miss--in either direction from the condo are wonderful walks for gelati!! (the melone was one of our favorites) Thank you Barbara, thank you Lake Como, thank you Italy!

  Barbara - we loved your apartment! It was even better than we hoped & we were so happy to have chosen it over a hotel in Como. Facilities, location, VIEW, restaurants, gelati, boating - everything was wonderful. As you know we are hoping to be back for longer in 2005 as 1-week just wasn't enough. We are torn between telling everyone we know to go and keeping it our own 'secret' holiday spot! I guess we have to get in line behind many of your other guests who have offered to buy it from you - if ever you would sell it!

  "Sweet vision! Do not fade away. Linger until my heart can take into itself the summer day." Longfellow said it best... I didn't think it was possible for Vista Lago to be as beautiful as the pictures but it was--if not more! I can't imagine a more perfect place to spend a week. The apartment was complete with all the conveniences of home but every time you walked in and saw the stunning views you knew you were far far away! Don't pass up the opportunity to visit Vista Lago--it is unforgettable!

  We have wonderful holidays in Barbara's appart. The view is incredible, it's very quiet and we enjoy the nice swimming-pool and the gym.   Vista Lago in Carate Urio is the PERFECT place to stay if you want to experience Lake Como and its surrounding area. The apartment is filled with beautiful light and has breathtaking views. The air is filled with jasmine and the lake sparkles like diamonds. We drove to Venice one day-( with our three children!) and it was a wonderful adventure. The location is outstanding and you wont be disappointed. It as an ideal set up for 3 couples or a small family.

  Hi Barbara, Just wanted to send you a quick thank you email following our stay at your beautiful apartment on Lake Como. it was an absolute dream location and fabulous apartment, it suited the four of us perfectly. To wake up in the morning and see those views was breathtaking, where ever you looked it was magnificent. We were out exploring everyday, we drove to Lagano, then around the Lakes and upto St Moritz for the day, which was again breathtaking. We spent a whole day in Milan, shopping, eating & sightseeing, but it was always great to come back to your apartment. And a trip on the hydrofoil to Bellaggio, and sat in the sun looking over the lake. And the treat was seeing George Clooneys villa, with post sticking out of his letterbox addressed to George Clooney, great photo opportunity. Thanks once again, we would love to book again.   Our family truly enjoyed every minute of our stay at Vista Lago. The villa is so incredibly appointed, and Barbara has gone over board making sure her guests feel "right at home". We have rented many houses and apartments in our travels, and none compare to all the "extras" that she provides. We loved the village of Carate Urio, and felt so fortunate to be out of the "touristy" section of Lake Como, but close enough to drive there as needed. One of our favorite days was when we rented a boat from the fisherman down the street and spent the day on the beautiful Lake.

  Our stay at Vista Lago was amazing! The apartment is fabulous, the view and location outstanding, and we keep 'clicking our heels' hoping to return! We especially appreciated all of the pre-rental assistance and recommendations....Silvana's cordiality and assistance...and the suggestion that we dine at Il Sette Porte (a delicious and truly fun experience!). Thank you, Barbara, for sharing this bit of paradise....on a scale of 1 to 10, this is an 11! Sandie, Jack, Lindsay, and Dana Hollywood, Florida/Albany, New York/Florence, Italy/Chicago, Illinois...whew!

  We had a wonderful time in Lake Como. Vista Lago had gorgeous views and was very well equipped. It really did feel like we were home. There were fab restaurants within walking distance. It was wonderful to live amongst locals rather than being surrounded by tourists. The location was great because we were in the middle of everything. The underground garage was a great bonus when the weather did not cooperate and we had to go to dinner. Silivana, the greeter/meeter was very helpful and professional.

  We enjoyed our stay at Vista Lago. The views were beautiful and fab restaurants were within walking distance. It was wonderful to live amongst locals rather than being surrounded by tourists.   We had a fantastic time Barbara, loved the apartment it was all we could have hoped for and more silvana was very helpful and we loved como will hope to return next year and would reccomend to anyone

  Como was wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Silvana, your assistant, was very professional and helpful. We enjoyed meeting her. Everything was lovely and either as great as we expected or better. Overall, Barbara we had an incedible time. We spent a full month in Italy and nothing compares to our stay in Como. We hope to be able to return someday. Thank you so much.

  Dear Barbara Just a note to compliment you on your wonderful apartment at Carate Urio. We all enjoyed our stay immensely.... What wonderful views and what a fantastic apartment. It is even more wonderful than the photos!. And thank you for all the extra touches which make all the difference.   Barbara's home in Lake Como is exceptional. The views will astound you!! My family and I had a wonderful vacation all due to the great customer service and attention to detail that Barbara places on each of her customers.

  Barbara's place on Lake Como is superb!! The 5 balconies provide views to the most scenic area I have ever seen. Lots of work has been done to make this place both comfortable and elegant!! Our group will never forget the memories Barbara's place has put in our minds and hearts.

  Barbara's pictures don't do the apartment justice . It is beautifully equipped with tasteful decor and comes with stunning views . If you like fishing bring your tackle or buy some from the shop just along the road and catch some trout right outside your front door.
