After months of house searching, we knew immediately upon seeing CLR we'd found the perfect vacation home. Our home is located in Hickory Nut Gorge right between the charming upscale tourist towns of Lake Lure/Chimney Rock Village - world renowned for breathtaking views, multiple outdoor activities, & comfortable year round tenperatures. This new 3 story immaculate mountain home, located only 5 minutes from downtown Lake Lure and Chimney Rock Village, is accessible by an easy mountain road. It is nestled in a hemlock forest on a ridge in the heart of the Gorge w/ a close up view of Chimney Rock. (A stroll down the road provides close up views of Rumbling Bald Mountain, & you might chance to see mountain climbers in action.)
Start your day off on a large covered deck watching the sun rise on Chimney Rock. As you spend your day at Chimney Rock experiencing some of the most beautiful hiking trails & waterfall in NC, look across the Gorge to see your home away from home. Return to your secluded & peaceful home in the evening and use the telescope in the loft to watch, up close, the lowering of the flag at Chimney Rock.
We’re not the only ones to realize the value of this natural land. The state of NC recently purchased Chimney Rock Park, along w/ beautiful forested mountains, with hiking trails, w/in walking distance of our home, soon to be known as Hickory Nut Gorge State Park. HGTV chose to build their 2006 Home of the Year in Lake Lure.
We’ve received nothing but “4 Star Ratings” from those who have rented our cabin for honeymoons, ladies retreats, large family reunions, artist/writer/musician inspirational havens, & of course, family vacations. Children & adults have enjoyed all the new tasteful furnishings & decorating by Maple Center Furniture & Timber Creek Furniture, as well as local artists.
A circular drive provides plenty of parking; there’s an easy ramp access to the main floor. It’s hard to choose which floor to “call your own”. The private bedroom in the loft has a queen size hand crafted log bed w/ private bathroom, book library, & large separate sitting area w/ sofa, chair, telescope & radio/CD player.
The bedroom on the main floor has a comfortable 4 poster king size bed w/ an attached bath. With beautiful hardwood floors throughout, the main level has a family room w/ vaulted ceilings, a gas fireplace, Direct TV w/ DVD/VCR, fully equipped kitchen w/ indoor & outdoor dining tables, outdoor gas grill, & washer/dryer. The private bedroom on the bottom floor w/ its luxurious queen size bed shares its bathroom w/ a large game room, complete w/ ping pong/pool table, TV/DVD, Play Station, Karaoke machine, card table, board games, trundle bed, queen sleeper sofa, & wet bar.
From the many windows in this new 2,000 square foot home, (AC/heat & ceiling fans throughout), or from 1 of the 3 covered decks, you have stunning year round views of Chimney Rock, the surrounding mountain peaks, a variety of birds (including hummingbirds & turkey) & deer walking through a hemlock forest. With all the comfy sitting areas & bedrooms, each individual can find their own space for solitude & reflection, indoors, or out (large grassy backyard), then come together in one of many large gathering rooms for fun and fellowship!
There are endless short day trips for all ages. Some of our favorites are swimming/ boating/canoeing/ kayaking on beautiful Lake Lure, hiking/rock climbing/picnicking at Chimney Rock Park & neighborhood trails, horseback riding, tubing/swimming/”rock walking” on the Broad River, shopping /antiquing in Chimney Rock Village/Black Mountain/Historic Hendersonville/cultural Ashville, golfing, fishing, pampering ourselves at the Lake Lure Inn & Spa, & dining at a variety of restaurants. |
