We had a very wonderful experience at this cottage!!! Even tho it rained,it didn't dampen our spirit and great time. It was awesome spending the day on "the strip" and then coming "home" to Elijah's Cottage. All tho we didn't get to visit with Rick and Bev,we felt like they were there because of all the personal touches that they supplied us with.They are,indeed,the IDEAL property owners. The listing was somewhat accurate,the cottage appeared to be clean ( but i didn't think to look under couch and chair cushions, inside microwave or inside the freezer) One would not think to take pictures of everything upon arrival, i guess this was my mistake. What is not covered in the listing is there is a limit of 3 daytime visitors, no one after 10 pm.The backyard was very nice with firepit and chairs,but i don't think they were meant to be used. If you are looking for privacy, this is not the place to be . The rear deck is 20 ft from the owners front door,your back yard is the owners front yard, and the neighbor lives at the window, you feel like your 5 years old and being watched, or in jail. The internet was not working, took three day's to figure out the internet only worked on rear deck. Hard to use laptop in the rain , rear deck was not covered and the only place internet worked. Would not recommend. Maybe it's the low ecconomy or another way to make an extra 150.00 on rental ,Whatever reason is ok, maybe they need that 150.00 more than i do.

Owner response:We strive to provide excellence for our guests and our testimonials from our cottage’s guest book is evidence of that. This review is untruthful and misleading; ie we have no such 10pm rule for visitors & the internet works just fine, I had to assist renter in reprograming their notebook to receive the connection. This is simply retaliation for our retaining a security deposit due to damage by the renter and it merits no other response. It is unfortunate that this forum is used in that manner.

Dear Rick & Bev, Your place is like home away from home. We have been coming up to Geneva on the Lake for over 20 years and I never thought there was a place like this available. I always thought Geneva had to be the gross cottage experience. Not any more! We walked into your cottage and my husband and I looked at each other in disbelief. Even our kids couldn't believe how nice it was. It was gorgeous, very nicely decorated and incredibly clean. Every amenity we could think of, we had. I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was. We almost stopped coming up to Geneva because their just weren't any reasonably priced, nice places to stay. Thank you for saving a tradition!

Dear Bev and Rick, Elijah's Cottage was wonderful. Everything that we needed or wanted was here. This is a beautiful place and very cozy, just like home. You have wonderful decorating taste. The backyard is also beautiful and the kids absolutely loved making their smores around the fire at night. This has been a great place for our first family vacation. We had a fun time visiting all the shops in town, going to the beach to swim and trying all the different places to eat but we also enjoyed the beautiful kitchen in the cottage for our breakfasts and family dinners. I’ve been coming to Geneva-on-the-Lake since I was 5 yrs old. My family and I always stayed at “The Ranch”. When the Ranch stopped being a rental place we stopped coming. While I’ve always come back for the day, now that we have our daughter Colette, we wanted to give her a family vacation. Elijah’s Cottage is better then we imagined. It doesn’t look anything like the cottages I had in my youth. I can’t believe how many people have stayed here because when you’re here, it feels like it was made just for us. That is a real tribute to Rick and Bev. Our time here was all that we hoped for. We got doughnuts at Madsen, played putt-putt at the oldest working one. We swam and fished and played in the sand. What a beautiful cottage that far exceeded our expectations! There were so many extra things that made your cottage better than others we've stayed at. As parents of thee young boys we struggle to find extra time in our days. That's why I appreciated the paper plates & although it may seem strange I was thankful for the washer & dryer. Doing a few loads of laundry here will certainly lighten my load when I get home. Thanks to you both for your assistance with travel questions & for starting the fire for our evening of smores.
