Why the Owner Chose Atlantic Beach
For years we looked at beach property up and down the Carolina coasts. We chose Atlantic Beach for its unbeatable combination of natural beauty, history, and authentic character. Atlantic Beach is a uniquely North Carolina beach, with area history dating back to the 1700's. Nearby Morehead City and Beaufort offer fine dining, boutiques, art galleries, and a boater's paradise. The beaches are wide, full of shells, and never too crowded. Our neighborhood is just that- a neighborhood, with families enjoying the North Carolina coast the way they have for generations.
We find this area to be the perfect destination for a beach trip- for families, for reunions, for gatherings of friends.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We are located 2 miles down the island from Ft. Macon State Park...a beautiful and historic 400-acre park right on the tip of the island, with gorgeous views of the ocean and sound from every angle. Our home is also just a 5-7 minute ride from the newest North Carolina Aquarium, in Pine Knoll Shores. The sharks that swim with the sunken German submarine are our favorite, but the sea turtles are a close second!
Though these national-calibre attractions are very close, the house is so comfortable, you'll have a fabulous vacation even if you never venture out. The beautiful beach is only 200 footsteps away from our back door, through a sandy trail in the natural dune area that gives our house it's privacy. The views from our home of the ocean and sound are gorgeous. There are swings and rocking chairs on the 2nd and 3rd floor oceanfront decks (2 of 7 decks/porches for you to enjoy).
The beach house is 3,700 square feet- stocked with games, movies, books and toys. We keep the house updated and very comfortable so you'll feel you are visiting a friend's home, not staying in a bland rental house or hotel.
The second-most visited state park in North Carolina, Ft. Macon dates back to the 1750's and offers visitors unique history and scenic beauty.
Amazing aquarium with nature trails through the sound-side marsh. See sharks, sea turtles, alligators, jellyfish, sea horses, and many, many more coastal creatures. Educational and entertaining for all ages.
Visit the waterfront shops, watch the boats come in with the day's catch, and enjoy some fresh seafood as you stroll the historic Morehead City waterfront.
Fabulous shopping, dining, and sight-seeing. Museums, historic homes, even a ghost walk at night! See the historic British cemetery, and stroll along the path to the legendary home of Blackbeard. Catch a ferry to Shackleford Island to spend a day sunning, shelling and looking for wild ponies.
Catch one of the many water ferries that run all day from Morehead and Beaufort waterfronts to the Shackleford Banks, Sand Dollar Island, or Carrot Island. See the dolphins, wild ponies, and other co

This house is amazing. We had my husband's surprise retirement party in September with plenty of room for all! The house is beautifully decorated with all the amenities. The owner was easy to reach for any questions and very accommodating. Our family and friends felt comfortable and at home in this lovely beach house. Hope we get the chance to rent again.

We had an excellent stay at your beautiful home! It was absolutely perfect for hosting our family reunion. The open kitchen/dining/living space on the 3rd floor is ideal for gathering and hanging out, but you could still get away to a quiet place when you needed. Our favorite porch is the one overlooking the back of the house and out to the ocean - great for an early morning cup of coffee while the rest of the crew slept in. My kids (11 and 9) were thrilled with the 4th floor game/bedroom and bunk. Lots of kid-friendly games and toys. We also found a great supply of beach supplies in the garage! The beach was beautiful - nice sand, no crowds, shells...You thought of everything, and we talked often about making regular trips/reunions to this wonderful house. There was SO much to do in the area - we ran out of days long before we ran out of ideas!

Our time here felt more like a visit at the well-kept home of a close friend than a normal beach rental. We just enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day weekend here with several of our friends. The house exceeded our expectations in every way - the decor, furnishings and location were fantastic, and there was plenty of room for everyone. The owner was extremely helpful in helping us finalize the details of our stay, which made things much easier upon arrival. The location is ideal for days on the beach and walks to dinner at Amos Mosquitos. We highly recommend it!

This house was perfect for our group and really made the weekend. We had a close friends wedding down in Atlantic Beach and so we rented this home with 5 other couples. The house was exactly what we were looking for, very spacious and close to the beach, The house was in very good condition, plenty of bathrooms and a nice kitchen to cook in. If we ever go back to Atlantic Beach we will definitely be staying at this home. Enjoy!

The Dugg Inn was the perfect for my family consisting of three families plus me. Seven little ones and 1 teen. Everything we needed was there. The home is decorated beautifully, but very livable. It was a treat to have a space where 3-3yr. old boys could be comfortable and have fun. There was also space for each family to have its own alone space. We had a marvelous time.

Our third year staying at the Dug-inn was on par with the first two! The beach is beautiful, and then we retreat to our beautiful home away from home! The house is always impecably clean, and just a wonderfully relaxing getaway! We loved our day trip to Shackelford from the ferry in Beaufort, a great idea!! Our 25th anniversary dinner at the Blue Moon Bistro in Beaufort was spectacular, as well. We always look forward to next year in Atlantic Beach. We have truly found our vacation spot!
