Staying in this charming apartment helped make our trip extra special. The apartment is close to everything and the Le Marais arrondissement is just delightful and full of great shops, cafes, restaurants, and subway stops. We felt very safe and loved all the Parisian charm of the apartment and courtyard. Loved the violinist who practiced late in the afternoon - be sure to open the windows to hear the delightful sounds of Paris and the bells of St. Paul before you set off for your evening adventures. Literally right outside the entrance door is Le Bistrot Des Comperes a real must for amazing french dining. Outside food options just to tempting that we did not use the kitchen much but it was nicely appointed. Steven was very professional and made sure everything was ready for us. Just a few minor issues and a simple call to Rosa and everything was corrected right away. I look forward to when I can return. Merci!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Spacious, clean apartment in a wonderful location. The space was perfect for 4 adults and it was very nice to have an additional bathroom. Lots of extras that made the apartment feel very homey and comfortable - plenty of kitchen items, lots of extra towels, hangers, umbrellas, comfy couch, big dining table. Quiet building off a picturesque side street. Some noise in the morning from the courtyard below. The owner was very helpful and easy to work with. Close to two metro stops, on lines 1 and 7, making it very easy to get all around the city. This was our second time in Paris, and we loved staying in this area. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We were lucky enough to spend a week in the apartment and found it perfect for exploring the Marais and Paris. Very clean, light and modern, the apartment comfortably held two couples and our associated luggage comfortably. Having been on the road for a while, it was great to have a washer & dryer and we also enjoyed cooking in the neat, well equipped kitchen. We enjoyed the apartment's proximity to places such as the Bastille and Notre Dame, taking advantage of a week of wonderful weather to walk around the small, photogenic streets. As three of the four of us were return visitors to Paris, we were able to enjoy taking the time to explore the neighbourhood and markets rather than rushing from one museum to the next! Well located, the metro, grocery store and everything you might need can be found just around the corner at Place St-Paul, along with 'Aux Desirs de Manon', the amazing patisserie with a delicious raspberry & chocolate croissant! Steven and Cathy were both incredibly helpful, checking that we had all the information needed and arranging for Rosa their representative in Paris to meet us at the apartment. Knowing we had a friendly face in Paris who could help us if needed was very reassuring for us. We wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else if we're lucky enough to be in Paris again soon.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This apartment was ideal. We were there for 11 days and it felt like home. It is very well equipped. It is in walking distance of many of the major sights in Paris and around the corner from metro, taxis, bakeries, groceries and wine..not to mention all of the wonderful bistros and cafes. If we have the pleasure of being in Paris again we will definitely stay in this apartment.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay of 11 days in Paris was one of complete satisfaction. Our accomodation met all expectations, a very comfortable, clean and well maintained apartment. Travelling with a friend (two ladies) we felt very safe, the security was great. The area of The Marais was so central to all of our needs, the fresh food, good coffee, shopping and restaurants. The Metro train just around the corner was so convenient for us to get to all of the sights in Paris. The photos listed reflected exactly the apartment and surrounding areas, the owner was most helpful to any of our concerns, I would have no hesitation in recommending this property - just wonderful.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Such a fantastic location, close to everything and yet a quiet, cool, comfortable retreat from the bustle and activity of the city! Thank you so much for sharing this special spot with us. I have all ready recommended your apartment to some friends that are considering a trip to Paris in 2013. We loved the location of this apartment. It was perfectly located to public transit, and footsteps from stores, shops and the village. I would definitely recommend this apartment for other couples, families, and anyone wanting to experience something in Paris other than hotels! The restaurant downstairs was perfect the first night that we arrived. The kitchen is well equipped. We ate breakfast in every morning for the eight days that we stayed and also prepared dinner three nights. Thanks, StevenRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This apartment is in a perfect location in Saint Paul. It is close to metros and buses, but is in a quiet secure beautiful location. The Marais is one of the oldest and most beautiful Paris neighborhoods, an exciting and lively neighbourhood with fascinating public buildings and fabulous shops, and Saint Paul is the jewel of the Marais. Maison European de la Photographie, the Carnavalet Museum, the Pompidou, Hotel De Sully, Biblioteque Forney, and the Pavilion Arsenal are all in the immediate vicinity. The apartment itself is lovely. With every possible comfort, it is extremely spacious and peaceful. As three single women staying there we had all the room we needed for a wonderful stay. We were also able to entertain due to the large dining table and superbly equipped kitchen. Arrangements were done with ease and precision and everything worked to plan. Steve was charming, flexible and accommodating. We cannot recommend it highly enough.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just returned from an absolutely terrific stay in Paris with our three sons. The apartment, while small (as is the case in Paris for nearly all properties and hotel rooms), is very well-appointed and the space is well-designed. We had everything we needed for a comfortable week. But, the best aspect of this property is the location. The apartment is in the most lovely, true-Paris neighborhood. We were steps from bakeries, cheese shops, fruit markets, and more restaurants than we could count. Metro stations (3) were very close with one just about a 2 minute walk away. Thank you.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

Our family of four stayed in this lovely apartment for 10 days in mid-June. I can't say enough about our experience there. I should begin by saying that booking and payment were handled easily and professionally. All of our questions were answered quickly and thoroughly. Upon our return, our security deposit was refunded promptly. The apartment is warm and welcoming. The pictures and description on this website are absolutely accurate. There are many small "luxuries" that really improved the experience, including the truly comfortable beds (no backaches in the morning!), the extra half bath, the efficient appliances, the completely enclosed shower, the wifi, the many guidebooks and maps about Paris for guests' use, and the fantastically comprehensive "welcome book" provided by the owners that explains everything you need to know about the apartment. From the moment we walked in, we felt at home. The neighborhood is also terrific--excellent stores (including two grocery stores, a delicious boulangerie, a fromagerie, a charcuterie, two wine stores, pretty much all you need) are right around the corner. Tons of excellent restaurants abound in the neighborhood. We ate deliciously every night and no restaurant was more than an 8 minute walk from the apartment. We also walked to many major sights--really, the location could not have been better. For locations further afield, the St. Paul metro is literally less than 3 mins from the apartment. Despite being beautifully located the apartment is very quiet. All the large windows give on a quiet courtyard. Nice breezes, and very peaceful. Really, our only complaint about this apartment is that we couldn't stay longer. We would happily stay here again when in Paris and recommend it without hesitation.Did you find this review helpful? Where do I begin? The experience of living in this wonderful area of Paris was amazing. Even before we arrived the experience of dealing with Steven was incredible. We were never worried about any aspect of our arrangements because Steven was always so prompt with replies and kept us informed of all the processes at all times. The bond was not excessive and we did not have to supply copies of our passports as some companies were asking for. That's what got me onto VRBO in the first place. It's such a great concept and I used it for several apartments around Europe and will continue to use it in the future. When we arrived at the apartment we already had the keys as he posted them to us in Australia and all we had to do was punch in the code he had given us--and we were in! What we particularly liked about this apartment was the character of the area, the Marais, and the actual courtyard which this apartment is in. For being so close to the River Seine and several large boulevards there is literally no traffic noise at all--and we sleep with the windows open. The proximity of the bakeries is deadly to those on diets---don't even bother thinking about dieting while in Paris!! The boulangerie which Steven shows in his photos is so close and the array of goods is stunning. The Metro station St. Paul is also close and we used it every time we ventured out--so easy to get around Paris. Notre Dame is in walking distance though--no need for a train. The apartment itself has everything you need and having 2 toilets when you have 2 couples is ideal. The washing machine and dryer were a godsend after spending the previous 2 weeks on board a cruise ship.We actually didn't use the kitchen much, only for breakfast, as we ate out every lunch and dinner. Why would you want to cook---you're in Paris!!! We found the prices of meals comparable to those in a good restaurant in Australia so were pleasantly surprised. I would not hesitate to recommend this apartment--it is perfect and Steven is a delight to deal with. We would all return in a heartbeat if it didn't take over 24 hours flying to get there!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We recently enjoyed a stay in Steven's apartment in Paris and were very pleased with all aspects of our lodging. The apartment is centrally located in a very safe neighborhood close to MANY famous landmarks, bistros, and shops. The Seine is practically a stone's throw away and the walk to Notre Dame is short and pleasing. Just up the way is the Lourve. Head in another direction and your are near the Bastille in the outdoor farmers' market on a pleasant Thursday or Sunday afternoon. We recommend this property without reservation; the perfect base for your Paris adventure.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

The apartment as described is completely accurate and the unit is well-maintained. The owners provide a great supply of amenities (Wi-fi, fully equipped kitchen). It was perfect for us and staying here was a terrific way to feel more a part of the Marais neighborhood. We opted to eat most breakfasts and dinners in, buying bread, pastries, wine and groceries at the local markets. We did take dinner out a few times (local wood-fired pizza and italian fare -- Pizza Momo -- among one or two other places), and always had lunch out while taking in the sites and neighborhoods. The apartment is easily convenient to the metro, as well as easy walking to the Seine, Islands, the Bastille market, and Left Bank. I would recommend this accommodation without hesitation and would be happy to stay here again myself.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The apartment was easy to find and was true to the website pictures. It was comfortable and well-appointed including books, DVD's and magazines to give it a homey feel. We were three adults and never felt cramped or crowded. The bedrooms had more than adequate storage and the main bathroom had plenty of room to hold toiletries and such for the three of us. Having the extra half bath was very convenient too. The washer/dryer was easy to use. The shower was large. The kitchen had everything we could want and more – plenty of dishes, glassware, cookware and utensils. All the equipment was easy to use and worked well. The location was perfect for us. We love the Marais and enjoyed being close to both the St. Paul and the Pont Marie metro stations. The Monoprix was close by for groceries and the market street was just around the corner. Yet, being on a courtyard, the apartment was relatively quiet. The rental process was easy. Steven readily responded to all questions about the apartment. The deposit and payment process was simple and efficient. We thought it was appropriately priced. WiFi worked perfectly. English-language TV stations were appreciated. We did not use either phone in the apartment. The user notebook contained all the info a renter would need and was easy to understand. All in All, we heartily recommend this lovely apartment. It was a great place to come home to after a long enjoyable day in beautiful Paris.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We had a great time at our selected Marais apartment. Four of us managed to see much of Paris from this central location. It was easy to catch the bus or the Metro all over Paris. There was plenty of room for two couples to enjoy time together. The apartment was clean, comfortable and well-equipped for a pleasant stay. We enjoyed opening the windows which overlooked a quiet courtyard. Great location & quiet courtyard. Very comfortable beds . Wifi dropped a few times during our 10 days' stay. On the down side, we were excepting a higher level of cleanliness (dust throughout , mold in shower). Owner was very helpful in answering our questions .Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We thank Adeline for her positive comments. With regard to the cleanliness, Adeline's specific comments were referred on arrival to our Paris Representative. We have in response to this, improved our system by supporting our cleaning staff with a laundry service so that in the cases of quick changeovers or excessive linen usage, they can still maintain our high levels of expectations with cleaning and preparation of the apartment.

Steven, I want to thank you for the use of your very lovely apartment . The 3 1/2 weeks that I rented your apartment went so quickly that I wished that I could have stayed longer. The location was so fabulous, being in one of my favorite areas, the Marais, I was able to walk to almost every place that I wanted to see, and if not the buses and metro were so close. The food shopping was close and very good making it very easy to prepare some meals at home. Of course the fabulous bakeries with croissants and pain chocolate were so close and great, The restaurant in the ground floor of the building was a favorite and we ate many delightful meals there. Your apartment was exactly as pictured on your website. Very clean with everything that I needed to make it a enjoyable stay, I appreciated your very prompt replies to all emails that I sent and your very quick return of my deposit, Again many thanks for being such a great landlord. Hopefully I will be able to retrurn next yearRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Having stayed in Steven's apartment 2 years ago, when we decided to go back to Paris in December 2010 it was an easy decision as to where to stay. In 2 years little had changed, the apartment was still very comfortable for a family of 4 and its great location and surrounding facilities were as we remembered them. The location alone is fantatsic and within easy walking distance of many Parisian highlights. A 2 minute walk finds all the shops you will require for food and refreshments. Having stayed in a number of apartments while travelling, I would compare this apartment very favourably to others and when (not "if") we come back to Paris we will have no hesitation in staying there again. The description of the apartment and the photos are accurate and reliable. Well done Steven and thanks for your help while we were there.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This apartment could not be more perfectly situated in Paris. I have just enjoyed a 2 week holiday here without once needing to use the metro as everything is in walking distance. Located in the beautiful Marais with the best designer boutiques, great cafe culture and surrounded by history and architecture that is so typically Paris. Only minutes from so many Ponts that cross the water to so much more, I talk my morning exercise walk to Notre Dame and back most days. Discovered Village Saint Paul and all the antique stores at the end of rue Charlemagne which was such a treat. For the tourist in you a beautiful boat ride that leaves close to the apartment will stop at all the main sites and you can get on and off at your leisure. Enjoy Paris, I loved it and this apartment.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The apartment location was fabulous. Easy walking disctance to much of Paris, and a number of Metro lines allowing easy access across the whole city. The apartment was comfortable and enough space for a family of 4, with a lift to make it easy to bring luggage in. Great shopping nearby and plently of local cafes and restaurants. Being off the street within a courtyard made it quiet and secure. Stephen was very easy to deal with and clearly explains all amenities within the well equipped and clean apartment. The Rue Charlemagne apartment worked out great for us. The location was excellent, and the nearby shops, restaurants, metro line, etc. made staying there very easy. We felt right at home right away. I shopped at the Bastille and Baudoyer markets a couple times, and we had fantastic breakfasts in the apartment every day. We even had dinner in a couple of nights. For many days while we were there we experienced a heat wave--weather in the 90's. The nights in the apartment were comfortable even on the hottest nights as we left all the windows open and there was a great cross breeze. We are a family of 5 and found the apartment perfect. I highly recommend this apartment.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have recently returned from a wonderful week in Paris staying at this apartment. What made the stay so wonderful was the accommodation. It was really comfortable - 2 good sized bedrooms, large lounge, fantastic bathroom with laundary facilities and well equipped kitchen as well as very clean - all we needed to make our stay really great. Best of all was the location of the apartment - in a quiet location but very close to 2 metro stations, markets, partisseries, shops and restaurants and comfortable walking distance to many points of interest. We celebrated a significant birthday whilst there and it could not have been better. We recommend Chez Julien restaurant in particular. We will be returning to stay in this apartment and recommending it to our family and friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The apartment was lovely (the photos are very accurate), clean, and quiet (except for the lovely piano music floating through the courtyard). Everything about the place was great. The one problem is that the wireless internet did not work (it only worked when plugged in which made it impossible for more than 1 of us to be online at the same time). I loved the neighborhood and the apt.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: The Wi Fi from the "Orange" Live Box has provided a few challenges for some renters. To connect to this popular French wireless internet it is important to push the REG button at the back of the Live Box so that the antenna light blinks on the front of the Live Box and it is in "Association mode". Once the light is blinking, simply enter the code provided in our "Welcome Book" and the computer will have a wireless connection. All these instructions are provided in our comprehensive "Welcome Book". An ADSL cable is provided if you have any problems and is guaranteed to work. The owner can be contacted 24/7 on the phone provided should you have any technical difficulties.

Knowing we wanted to be near Place des Vosges in the Marais, we found this apartment on line and were delighted that it was available for our dates. We had no idea what a wonderful concierge the owners would be. By the time we arrived, we already had almost all of our dinner reservations made. Arriving unexpectedly late the first night was also accomodated in a very efficient manner by the local caretaker. The apartment is very comfortable and homey. It had everything we anticipated and would have wanted, and was great to come home to after a day of museums, sightseeing or just roaming the streets of Paris. The local markets and the ease of the St Paul metro stop are a major plus to this location. We hope to return soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6

I agree with the other positive comments shown here, and will add that Steven and Cathryn were attentive hosts (from afar via email) who responded promptly and answered every question we had during our one week Paris vacation in August 2009. We also appreciated the ability to get cross ventilation to keep the apartment comfortable during hot weather. The location is outstanding, especially the proximity to the village of St. Paul and the Marais, a quiet and pleasant community with lots to do and easy access to public transportation and the Seine river. The extra WC made it very easy for my wife and I to share the apartment with our two adult sons for the week.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We had a lovely week in this apartment; great location with lots of restaurants and streetlife nearby. The apartment was very comfortable for us (2 couples + 1 little girl) and quiet; everything worked and was in good condition. Steven was a pleasure to deal with.Did you find this review helpful? Our family of 4 (two boys 12 and 9) really enjoyed this apartment for 9 nights in May. It was really quiet and calm as well as comfortable and cozy. It's close to everything we needed. The location is perfect. We wish we were still there. We'd definitely return and would also recommend to friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

A perfect apartment for myself and 3 girlfriends. We loved the living room, so great for gathering to plan the day and discuss what we did over wine and snacks. Great kitchen, we made some meals and dined at the table, thank you for having all the utensils and appliances we could ask for. Quiet when we slept, but so close to shops and evening entertainment in the fabulous Marais. Loved walking the neighborhood, and it was so easy to choose Metro St. Paul or Pont Marie, we went everywhere so easily. Charming, I would gladly be back there right now!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Stayed here for a week with 3 children. The apartment was comfortable and had everything we needed. It is very well located in a great neighborhood- truly near everything! We lived like real Parisians.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Steven - From the moment that we stepped into 16 Rue Charlemagne till the time we left, we were truly at home in Paris. Not often have I rented a place, be it a hotel or otherwise, that I have felt to comfortable. The townhome is charming and warm - a great place to retire to after a full day enjoying Paris. Possibly the biggest surprise was, although in a very central and convenient location, the place was extremely quiet - something I also haven't enjoyed traveling. Did I also say the bed in the Master bedroom was amazingly comfortable!? The kitchen was appropriately stocked with utensils, assisting us in enjoying a home cooked meal. Steven, your care and love of this unit shows through. Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise in Paris. Fondly, Izzy SonenreichDid you find this review helpful? Steven, It was quite a co-incidence that we should happen upon an Aussie owning an apartment in Paris when we were looking for accommodation. Our family of 4 (including boys of 9 & 12) had the pleasure of staying in your apartment for 7 nights over Christmas 2008. We had a great time and the location and facilities were as stated. I loved the quitness yet the close proximity to the Marais life (that pastry shop around the corner was magnificant!). Have recommended apartment to friends travelling in December 2009. Would definately consider staying there again. (PS - a bottle of French bubbly would be more than welcome on arrival!) Best wishes to you and familyDid you find this review helpful? Our family of 2 adults and 2 children (11 & 13) enjoyed our stay in your apartment immensely!! It was comfortable and well appointed. The location was better than good (Marais is close to many of the major landmarks). Will definitely stay there again when we return to magnificent Paris.Did you find this review helpful? Thank you Steven for the use of your apartment. We 5 girlfriends had the most wonderful time in Paris and it was all enhanced by our comfort in the apartment, its proximity to the metro, shops, places of interest and Saint-Paul itself. You gave us a wonderful indication of what we could expect and we weren't disappointed on any front. My problem was I couldn't stay long enough! Don't be too surprised to hear from us in the not too distant future - your apartment in the Marais beckons!! Thank you so much.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

A most comfortable apartment overlooking a quiet courtyard. Every amenity is well addressed and well maintained. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend highly a stay at this apartment. The neighborhood is delightful with good stores (a super fruit and vegetable stand) and restaurants. Great for walking, including to and from the Bastille Opera.Did you find this review helpful? Steven, Your apartment was everything as advertised. For my wife and our children (3 boys aged 13, 12 and 9), the apartment worked out great. The location was perfect for getting to the metro AND experiencing life as a Parisian. The area was very safe and it was convenient for all types of stores and shops. The rooms worked out well for us. We used the roll-out bed next to the queen in the guest room and put all 3 boys there. The main bathroom has a full shower and double sink, which was helpful. The second bathroom was a must. I liked the fact that each room overlooked the courtyard. Every morning we started with fresh delicacies from the several local boulangeries. We had a great time. I would recommend this location and apartment to others.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

G'day Cath and Steve, thank you so much! It was no exaggeration when you said that this is the best location in town; it's right in the heart of everything I associated with Paris. I thought we'd use the metro to get around but it was so interesting just wandering, seeing the architecture and people and their zest for life that we preferred to walk. And stepping off rue St Paul into the absolute peace and tranquility of the courtyard was like stepping back in time. Even the neighbours were wonderful! The apartment is super spacious, had more than we needed and meticulously clean and well appointed. I can't wait for my next trip. Thanks again, SteveDid you find this review helpful? The apartment was fantastic ! The location is excellent. The Marais district is a busy place, full of people, little shops, cafes, bistros,Falafel restaurants, Jewish History, etc... It's less than a 5 minute walk to the Seine and Ile St. Louis, also with restaurants, shops, etc... You can walk many sites and areas: 1. to the Latin Quartier, down boul.St.Michel right to Luxembourg gardens, 2. walk on rue Rivoli to the Louvre, then Place de la Concorde. 3. walk to Ile de la Cite to St. Chapelle and Notre Dame Cathedrale 4. Walk to Chatelet/Les Halles district with many main streets to visit including the market street of rue Montorgueil. 5. Sunday market day at Place de la Bastille, ave Richard Lenoir. Other areas are very easily accessible by taking the metro at the St.Paul station which is a one minute walk from the apartment on Rue St. Antoine. In front of the metro station is a supermarket and boulangerie. As for the apartment, it is on a quiet street. The amenities are excellent, a modern bathroom with washer/dryer, shower etc... The kitchen is well equipped. The sitting area is spacious with a large window. The 2 bedrooms also have large windows. All windows face the courtyard. There is another bathroom with a toilet and sink. We were 4 people and felt very comfortable. I have rented houses in France many times, using sites like this, where feedback is welcomed. Since I rely on other people's feedback, I feel it is important to always give back to these sites. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.Did you find this review helpful?
