This is a new listing and our first rental season. The cottage is only minutes to world famous Magens Bay and Mahogany Run Golf course. It is centrally located between Charlotte Amalie and
Havensight for shopping/sightseeing and Red Hook and the East End for the ferry to St. John.
This charming French West Indian structure is a stand alone cottage fashioned after the architecture of the homes that are built on the Caribbean Island of St. Barths. Upon opening the gate, you are greeted with the view of the entire peninsula of Peterborg and Magens Bay. The entry to the cottage is flanked on both sides by magnificent boulders and lush vegetation. It is private and seculded, but the small friendly neighborhood also has homes nearby.
The elevation (600 feet above sea level) and the trade wind breezes make air conditioning unnecessary. In addition, there are ceiling fans in every room which provide further comfort.
When entering the cottage, you step into the large, open, living/dining room with screened windows stretching the entire length of the room. Once again, providing panaromic views.
The master bedroom has a queen size bed accommodating two people. The second bedroom has two single beds accommodating two additional people. The bathroom has a large walk in shower, a large window overlooking the garden, and is spacious and bright. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything needed to cook those special meals. Or maybe you would rather dine alfresco and grill outside on the deck.
Your vacation will truly be a memorable one should you choose to stay at Whispering Palms. The owners are close by and available to assist with your every need. Please contact us with any questions; we will be happy to speak with you.
We will meet you at the airport and help you get your rental car. We will then escort you to the cottage, give you the keys, and show you around. Should you wish, we can also stop along the way for groceries, or anything else that you may need.

Year Purchased: 2010
My husband, Ken, and I are now retired. We relocated from Massachusetts almost 25 years ago. Ken is a woodworker and meticulously returned the cottage to its original splendor, while I have been in charge of the furnishings and interior. It has ended up being a winning combination.
Why the Owner Chose Magens Bay
This cottage was built in 1974, and was within sight of our home while we were building. For many years we thought about what a special place it was. When it became available early last year, we decided to purchase it for a vacation rental.. We moved to the lovely Virgin Islands after vacationing for several years in 1984 and realized that this is exactly where we wanted to live and spend all of our time.
The Unique Benefits of this Cottage
The cottage has an old world charm not available in many of the contemporary rental villas. The cottage provides lots of outdoor living which is exactly what you want in the great weather which the Caribbean provides. The evenings are especially beautiful with the lights of the valley twinkling in the distance.

A quaint retreat!

We stayed at Whispering Palms from Dec.31st to Jan. 7th/12. Right from our first correspondence with Joanne, she was very informative and helpful. She graciously met us at the airport, waited in line at the car rental to hold our place and guided us through the winding hills to pick up groceries and show us to this quaint retreat. The cottage has a breathtaking view of Magen's Bay and it was fitted with everything needed...from the beach towels, beach chairs and bags, to an iron and blowdryer, etc. The property is well taken care of and any issue was quickly resolved. Joanne had specific directions printed out for us to get around the island and recommended places to shop (Imperial Jewellers on Main St.) and activities to do. Be prepared for driving on very steep roads and enjoying nature's sounds overnight and the roosters' wake up calls, as many of the windows have screens. It was a quaint retreat getaway from the cold winter in Toronto, Canada. We would definitely recommend Whispering Palms to others wishing to visit St. Thomas, V.I. Ana and Danny
